Shore Conference Girls Basketball Scoreboard Thursday, Jan. 9

Class A North

Shore Regional 58, Ocean 24

Shore had three players score double-digits to win their first division game of the season. The Blue Devils held Ocean to just 5 points in the first half. Senior Reese Fiore scored a game-high 19 points and Kimi Sayson added 17 points for Shore Regional. Freshman Emma Burke continues her strong rookie season, scoring 15 points for Ocean.

No. 10 Ranney 51, No. 7 Trinity Hall 32

Ranney extended their win streak to four games and defeated their second ranked team of the week to improve to 2-0 in Class A North.  Sophomore Ashley Kreiger scored a game-high 18 points and grabbed 9 rebounds for Ranney. Senior Haley Poser went 11-for-15 from the free-throw line and finished with 13 points for Ranney. Senior Lilly Riggie scored a game-high 10 points for Trinity Hall.

Colts Neck 45, Marlboro 21

Colts Neck improved to 6-1 on the season after an impressive defense performance against Marlboro. Sophomore Mattilyn Caffiero led a balanced scoring effort with 10 points while Freshman Emily Donahue and Junior Julia Watkins each scored 9 points apiece for the Cougars in the win. Colts Neck connected on 11 3-pointers as a team. Freshman Mackenzie Klatsky scored a team-high 9 points all on made 3-pointers in the loss for the Mustangs.

 

Class A Coastal

No. 8 Rumson 61, Holmdel 43

Junior Erin Reid led Rumson-Fair Haven to an impressive win against Holmdel by scoring a game-high 23 points. Sophomores Brooke Jaenicke and Grace Smith scored 13 points apiece while Senior Sylvie Notine chipped in 10 points in the win for the Bulldogs. Freshman Casey Zammit scored a team-high 18 points in the loss for the Hornets including 4 made 3-pointers.

No. 2 Red Bank Catholic 73, Middletown South 16

The Caseys held Middletown South to 6 first half points on their way to their second division win. Junior Katie Liggio knocked down four 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 14 points and Addy Nyemchek added 12 points for RBC.

 

Class A Central

No. 2 St. Rose 50, No. 6 Howell 37

St. Rose outscored Howell 17-10 in the third quarter to win their fourth straight game and hand Howell their first loss of the season. Junior Jada Lynch scored a team-high 18 points and Cassidy Kruesi added 12 points to lead St. Rose. Sophomore Kylee Beam scored a game-high 19 points for Howell.

Class A South

Toms River East 30, Toms River North 28

Toms River East outscored Toms River North 13-8 in the 4th quarter after trailing 20-17 to defeat the crosstown rival for the second time this season. Sophomore Kacey Briles scored a team-high 9 points for the Raiders. Junior Cara Sarluca scored a game-high 12 points for the Mariners.

 

Class B North

Freehold Township 75, Manalapan 39

The Patriots jumped out to a 24-6 lead after the first quarter to win first game in Class B North. Senior Gaby Parker tied a career-high 27 points and had 6 steals and Sophie Tonino added 10 points for Freehold Township.

Long Branch 61,  Asbury Park 23

Lon Branch had three players score double-digits and improved to 5-1 and picked-up their first win in Class B North. Sophomore Layla Brand scored a career-high 23 points and Taniyah Brown posted a double-double , 16 points and 13 rebounds for Long Branch.

Freehold Boro 58, Monmouth 33

Freehold Boro won their sixth game of the season and win their first game in Class B North. Senior Sayuri Penaranda posted a double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds and Christina Sikaras scored 16 points and had 6 assists for the Colonials.

 

Class B Coastal

Middletown North 74, Keyport 19

Middletown North had four players score double-digits to start the season 2-0 in Class B Coastal. Daniella Gonzalez scored a game-high 13 points and both Kaelyn Gibson and Lacie Marcotte added 11 points for the Lions.

Matawan 31, Henry Hudson 16

Matawan played strong defense on their way to a win over Henry Hudson. Junior Emma Kriegstein scored a team-high 8 points while Senior Zaira Carballo added 7 points in the win for the Huskies. Freshman Leah Curry scored a team-high 8 points for the Admirals in the loss.

Keansburg 54, Raritan 49

Keansburg’s 17-2 third quarter run proved to be too much after Raritan mounted a comeback that came up short. Junior Princess Graves scored a game-high 18 points and Lindsay Rivera added 12 points for Keansburg. Raritan led 28-27 at halftime before Keansburg went on a third quarter run. The Rockets outscored the Titans 19-10 in the fourth quarter.

 

Class B South

Toms River South 50,  Pinelands 12

Toms River South exploded in the 3rd quarter to extend a 13-6 halftime lead to a 36-9 lead at the end of the 3rd quarter on their way to victory against Pinelands. Freshman Haley Johnson finished with a game-high 12 points to go along with 5 rebounds and 4 assists while Sophomore Linsey Cribbin added 8 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 steals in the win for the Indians.

 

Non-Divisional

Lacey 45, Lakewood 23

Lacey jumped out to a 24-8 halftime lead and held strong to defeat Lakewood. Junior Brooklynn Bell narrowly missed a triple-double finishing with 11 points, 9 rebounds, and 9 steals while Senior Reece Paget recorded a 10 point and 12 rebound double-double in the win for the Lions. Sophomore Dinasty Peace scored a game-high 19 points in the loss for the Piners.
