Pinelands 22, Lakewood 15
Pinelands outscored Lakewood 10-2 to overcome a three point deficit in the non-divisional victory. Freshman Rory Krier led Pinelands in scoring for the second straight game with 7 points.
No. 3 St. Rose 61, No. 7 Ranney 45
St. Rose knocked down 11 3-pointers to win their opening game against No. 7 Ranney. Junior Jada Lynch made three 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 23 points and Cassidy Kruesi knocked down five 3-pointers to finish with 15 points. Senior Haley Poser scored a team-high 21 points for Ranney.
No. 4 Red Bank Regional 53, Brick Township 27
Red Bank jumped out to a 13-4 in the first quarter and did not look back. Senior Caroline Polloway posted a double-double with 18 points and 15 rebounds and Kristen Connors knocked down three 3-pointers to finish with 13 points for the Bucs.
No. 10 Neptune 56, Manchester 32
The seniors led the way for Neptune with Christa Ramos scoring 23 points and Bre Evans scoring 20 points to lead the Scarlet Fliers to an opening day win. Sophomore Madeline Nolan scored a team-high 13 points for Manchester.
Jackson Memorial 46, Matawan 13
Manalapan 41, Donovan Catholic 24
Manalapan outscored Donovan 12-3 in the 4th quarter to put the game out of reach and win their season opener. Ava Cialdella came off the bench to score a game-high 10 points and grab 9 rebounds for Manalapan. Senior Laila Hagan knocked down two 3-pointers and finished with 9 points and 9 rebounds for the Braves. Madison Koehler scored a team-high 6 points for Donovan and Sarah Franks added 5 points and 3 assists.
Southern 41, Ocean 13
Toms River East 49, Brick Memorial 37
The Raiders outscored Brick Memorial 17-8 in the 4th quarter to win their opening game of the season. Sophomore Libby Dickman scored a career-high 13 points to lead TRE and four players scored 8 points each in the win. Junior Liana Papena knocked five 3-pointers to equal a career-high 17 points.
Non-Conference
Keansburg 62, Academy Charter 14
Keansburg had three different players score double-digits and shut Academy Charter out in the first half to win the non-conference game. Princess Graves and Gabriella Flanzbaum both scored 14 points for Keansburg and Lindsay Rivera added 10 points in the victory.
Freehold Boro 66, New Brunswick 23
Freehold Boro held New Brunswick to six first half points to build a 32-6 lead at halftime. Senior Sayuri Penaranda led all scorers with 23 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for the Colonials. Christina Sikaras also posted a double-double with 16 points and 10 assists, plus she had 6 steals in the game.
