
Shore Conference Softball Scoreboard Monday, March 31
Class A North
No. 3 Red Bank Catholic 6, No. 5 Middletown North 2
Leading 3-2 going into the bottom of the 5th inning, RBC was able to add three runs to seal the victory against one of the best pitchers in the state. UNC commit Nicole Knox went 2-for-3 with a home run and double and Jayden Kane went 1-for-2 with a home run and two RBIs to lead RBC. Senior Lily Hagan struck out 12 batters and only allowed two hits for the Caseys.
Seton Hall commit Madilynn Boyce struck out 15 hitters for Middletown North.
No. 1 St. John Vianney 8, Freehold Township 2
SJV jumped out to a 7-0 lead over the first three innings and Madison McDougall struck out 14 batters to give the Lancers their first win of the season. Senior Elisabeth Figliolino went 1-for 4 with a home run and two RBIS and Nicole Giglio went 2-for-4 with a homer and three RBIs to lead SJV at the plate.
No. 7 Colts Neck 6, No. 4 Marlboro 2 (8 Innings)
The score may not reflect the battle two of the Shore Conference’s best pitchers had, but they combined for 21 strikeouts and zero earned runs. Colts Neck was able to capitalize on the Mustangs errors to score four runs in the top of the 8th inning to win the first meeting between these top teams.
Angela Sasso struck out 8 batters for the Cougars and went 1-for-3 with a RBI at the plate. Senior Ellie Mager went 2-for-4 with a double and RBI for Colts Neck in the victory.
Junior Emily Gaudio struck out 13 batters over 8 innings for Marlboro. Sophomore Alyssa Abadiatokis went 1-for-3 with two RBIs to lead the Mustangs at the plate.
Class A South
No. 9 Southern 15, No. 8 Jackson Memorial 7
After Jackson Memorial scored four runs in the top of 6th inning to tie the game at 7, Southern responded with eight runs in the bottom of the 6th inning to win the Class A South match-up. Sophomore Abigail Krill went 3-for-5 with a home run and two RBIs and Emily Evans went 2-for-4 with two RBIs to lead Southern at the plate. Evans also was clutch on the mound, striking out four batters, but was able to get out of multiple jams throughout the game.
Victoria Marconi went 3-for-3 for the Jaguars and Alexandra Santos went 1-for-3 with a RBI and two runs scored.
Class B North
Raritan 3, Matawan 2 (8 Innings)
Holly Bellofatto went 2-for-3 with a double and scored two runs for Raritan, including the game winning run in extra innings on a passed ball. Freshman Katelyn Ruta struck out 8 batters in her first victory of her career. She also added a RBI double for the Rockets.
No. 10 Middletown South 2, Monmouth 0
Sophomore Riley Smith is starting the 2025 season just like she ended the 2024 season. Smith struck out 18 batters and gave up one hit to give the Eagles a 2-0 shutout victory. Nora Sarcone went 3-for-3 with a RBI double for Middletown South.
Class C North
Shore Regional 18, Ocean Township 8
Shore responded to Ocean’s 8-run 3rd inning by scoring 6 runs in the 4th and 5 runs in the 5th to earn their second win of the season. Sophomore Ayden Kampf went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs and Kelsey Orth went 4-for-5 with four RBIs for Shore Regional. Angela Christopher went 3-for-4 with a triple and four runs scored for the Blue Devils. She is one hit away from reaching the 100 hit milestone.
Jillian Scotto went 1-for-3 with a home run and four RBIs to lead Ocean Township.
Manalapan 22, Henry Hudson 6 (5 Innings)
Rumson-Fair Haven 13, Keansburg 1
Rumson’s bats came to life, scoring 11 runs in the first two innings to win their first game of the season. Lilee Martinelle went 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs and Caitlin Bush went 1-for-2 with three runs scored for the Bulldogs. Martinelle also struck out 11 batters and only allowed two hits to pick up the victory.
Coastal
Brick Township 26, Red Bank Regional 19
Tied 19-19 after 8 innings, Brick Township scored seven runs in the top of the 9th inning to win their first game of the season. Junior Sicilia Booker went 4-for-6 with a home run and Adriana Buonacore went 3-for-8 with a triple and four runs scored. AnnaClaire Staudt went 3-for-6 and scored a game-high five runs for Brick.
Red Bank Regional was trailing 19-15 going into the bottom of the 7th inning and was able to score four runs to send the game to extra innings. Lisbeth Vazquez-Denicis lead the Bucs with four hits and had three doubles.

Non-Divisional
Pinelands 3, Barnegat 2
Jackson Liberty 16, Lakewood 0
Jackson Liberty scored 10 runs in the bottom of the first inning on the way to their first win of the season. Sophomore Summer Hunter went 3-for-3 with two triples and four RBIs to lead the Lions. Junior Rebecca Galvin struck out 6 batters in the shutout victory.
