Shore Conference Softball Scoreboard Thursday, April 10

 

Class A North

No. 3 Red Bank Catholic 4, No. 6 Colts Neck 2

Freshman Mackenna Savage struck out 10 batters in her first career start to lead the Caseys to their fourth win of the season. Nicole Knox went 1-for-1 with a double and two runs scored and Savage collected two hits and two RBIs for RBC.

Angela Sasso struck out 10 batters for Colts Neck and had two singles. Ellie Mager hit a 2-run home run for the Cougars.

No. 4 Middletown North 5, Freehold Township 1

Senior Madilynn Boyce struck out 13 batters and did not allow an earn run to lead the Lions to their fourth straight win. Hailey Keiser went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and Abby Esposito hit a solo home run for Middletown North.

Alissa Chavez went 2-for-3 with a RBI for Freehold Township.

No. 1 St. John Vianney 10, No. 7 Marlboro 0

Madison McDougall pitched a 3-hit shutout and struck out 9 batters to help SJV improve to 4-0 on the season. Brynn Utter went 2-for-3 with a home run, double and four RBIs and Gabby Gonzalez went 3-for-4 with three doubles and two runs scored for the Lancers.

 

Class B North

Raritan 12, Monmouth 1

Tied 1-1 after the first inning, Raritan scored four runs in the bottom of the 2nd and five more in the bottom of the 3rd to improve to 3-0 on the season. Freshman Katelyn Ruta struck out seven batters in the victory and went 2-for-3 with two RBIs at the plate. Julia DelMasto and Janelle Clausi both went 2-for-4 with three RBIs for Raritan.

Matawan 11, Freehold Boro 1

After scoring one run in the bottom of the 2nd inning, Matawan scored six runs in the bottom of the 3rd and four more in the 6th to win their first game of the season. Hayley Maresca struck out 8 batters to lead Matawan to their first win of the season. Isabelle Wiemer hit a home run and drove in three runs and Kate Martelliti went 2-for-4 with two RBIs for Matawan.

No. 8 Middletown South at Holmdel, 4 p.m.

 

Class B South

Howell 15, Toms River North 1

Leading 6-1 after four innings, Howell scored 9 runs in the top of the 5th inning to win their third game of the season. Keira Murphy went 4-for-4 with four doubles, four runs and four RBIs and Emily Richards went 2-for-4 with three RBIs to lead the Rebels. Madisyn Zito struck out two batters in the victory and had two hits with two RBIs at the plate.

 

Class C North

Shore 17, Henry Hudson 1

Shore’s bats started the game off hot, scoring 9 runs in the bottom of the 1st and 6 in the bottom of the 2nd to improve to 5-0 on the season. Angela Christopher went 4-for-4, hitting for the cycle and driving three runs in. Peyton Waterman went 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs and Kelsey Orth went 3-for-4 with three RBIs for Shore.  Dylann Lawrence struck out two batters to earn the victory.

Ocean 17,  Rumson-Fair Haven 0

Ocean scored 11 runs in the top of the 4th inning to improve to 2-3 on the season. Freshman Colleen Zdan pitched a no-hitter and struck out 8 batters and hit a triple with two RBIs at the plate for Ocean. Nathalie Staten went 3-for-4 with four runs scored and four RBIs and Cassandra Foley went 2-for-4 with two RBIs for the Spartans.

 

Nondivisional

Jackson Memorial 13, Toms River South 1

Jackson Memorial’s bats came to life with 15 hits and scored 13 runs to improve to 4-3 on the season. Dominique Lopez went 3-for-4 with a double and six RBIs and Alexandra Santos went 2-for-3 with two RBIs for the Jaguars at the plate. Freshman Mia Ingenito only allowed two hits and struck out four batters in the win.

 

Nonconference
