SSI Girls Lacrosse Top 10 Rankings for April 28

 

1. Rumson-Fair Haven (7-3) Last Week: 1

The Bulldogs completed a 3-0 week with wins over Manasquan 14-5, Shawnee 10-8, and Middletown South 15-9.  They remain unbeaten within the American Division (5-0).  Rumson received big offensive performances from Rachel James (11 goals) and Daisan Iwan (6 goals).  Sophomore goalie Sydney Kiernan had 18 saves in the three games. Rumson has 3 games this week, 1 tough divisional matchup, one rivalry game, and one against an out-of-conference power.

Upcoming games: 4/29 vs No. 3 Shore; 5/1 at Red Bank Catholic; 5/3 vs Bridgewater-Raritan

 

2. Trinity Hall (5-4) Last Week: 3

The Monarchs split a pair of games last week, a divisional win vs Manasquan 11-5, and an out-of-conference loss to state power Shawnee 7-6.  Chiara Donohue led Trinity with 5 goals for the week, while Mary Catherine O’Connor and O’Malley Eldridge added 3 a piece.  Goalie Virginia Avery stopped 24 shots, including 18 against Shawnee. Trinity has a tough week ahead with two divisional games.

3. Shore (9-3) Last Week: 2

The Blue Devils had a tough week, losing both of their games, 17-6 against South Jersey powerhouse Allentown, and 11-10 against divisional rival Southern.  Gabby O’Brien led Shore in scoring (7 goals) while Ava Matthews added 3 goals for the week.  Goalie Sofia Merten made 14 saves in the 2 losses.  Shore has a very busy week head with 3 more games, 2 against tough divisional opponents and 1 big out-of-conference foe.

4. Middletown South (8-3) Last Week: 5

The Eagles split a pair of games last week, defeating out of conference opponent Monroe 18-6, and losing to Rumson 15-9.  Middletown South was led in scoring by junior Abigail Gallagher’s 8 goals.  Caroline Bedetti added 6 goals for the Eagles, while goalie Anna Weise stopped 17 shots for the week. The Eagles lone game this week is against a Manasquan team that is likely tougher than their record indicates due to the level of competition within the American Division.

5. Southern (5-3) Last Week: 6

The Rams went 2-0 on the week, defeating two divisional rivals, Red Bank Regional 8-3 and Shore 11-10.  Senior Delaney Falk led the offense with 7 goals.  Piper Murray added 4, and Mackenzie Siniski and Avery Smith each scored 3.  Goalie Adyson Griffin recorded 17 saves.  Southern has 2 games this week, one non-division contest and 1 non-conference tilt.

6. Red Bank (5-3) Last Week: 4

The Bucs split a pair of games last week, an out of division win against Ocean 17-6, and a division loss to Southern 8-3.  Kate Meulener led the Bucs in scoring for the week, tallying 5 goals, while teammate Carleigh Gilbert added 4 goals.  Goalie Nora Tavares stopped 14 shots.  Red Bank has a 3 game slate this week, with one division game and 2 non-division games.

7. Central (7-3) Last Week: 10

The Golden Eagles move up 3 spots this week, going 2-0 defeating Toms River East 13-9 and Wall 15-14.  The powerhouse duo of Senior Ryann Dunn (8 goals) and Freshman Addison Frulio (16 goals) continues to pace Central offensively, while goalie Morgan Schinder remains solid in net, stopping 12 shots.  Central has 2 games this week, including a Colonial Division game with Point Boro with a chance to clinch the division race.

8. Barnegat (8-2) Last Week: Unranked

The Bengals crack the Top 10 this week after going 3-0.  Barnegat had 2 huge divisional wins, 5-4 over Point Boro and 11-10 over Toms River East.  The Bengals also defeated SJV in a non-division clash 11-4.  Sophomores Ella Tortorici and Sadie Guiro led Barnegat in scoring with 6 goals each for the week, while Emilia Ercolino and Lizzie Medina added 5 goals a piece.  Allie Soden has been solid in goal, stopping 23 shots for the week.  Barnegat has a non-divisional game against Holmdel on tap this week.

9. Toms River East (5-3) Last Week: 8

The Raiders had a tough week, losing 2 divisional games, 13-9 to Central and 11-10 to Barnegat.  Junior Allison Momm scored 6 goals to the lead the Raiders, while Grace Crowley added 5. Goalies Angelina Murray and Gianna Addesso split time in net, with Murray recording 11 saves and Addesso recording 19.  TRE has 3 match-ups this week, one divisional and two non-divisional contests.

Upcoming games: 4/29 vs Wall; 5/1 at No. 5 Southern; 5/3 at Brick Twp

 

10. Point Boro (6-2) Last Week: 9

The Panthers split a pair of divisional games this week, losing 5-4 to Barnegat and defeating Toms River North 19-6.  Frankie Skowronski led the offensive charge with 6 goals, while Lucy Hauser and Kayden Cilento each chipped in 4.  Goalie Sloan Schwertheim stopped 18 shots for the week.  Boro has 3 games coming up this week,  including a big one in the Colonial Division.
