Monmouth County Tournament Black Bracket Semifinals
No. 3 St. John Vianney 10, No. 8 Middletown South 0 (6 innings)
Junior pitcher Madison McDougall nearly threw a 6-inning perfect game with 11 strikeouts as the Lancers (10-1) extended their winning streak to 6 in a win over the Eagles (10-3). The Lancers had 1 error which prevented the perfect game, but did not stop the no-hitter. McDougall also went 3 for 4 from the plate with 2 doubles and 3 RBIs. Senior Nicole Giglio went 1 for 2 with a home run, 2 RBIs, and a HBP. Senior Elisabeth Figliolino was 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI.
Monmouth County Tournament Gold Bracket Semifinals
Shore 16, Red Bank 3
Sophomore Kelsey Orth went 3 for 4 with a double and 3 RBIs as the Blue Devils (12-4) surged past the Bucs (7-8) into the finals of the Gold Bracket. Junior Olivia DeFonce went 2 for 3 with a double, a walk, and 3 RBIs. Senior Morgan Shaftel was 2 for 2 with 2 RBIs. Sophomore Mary Hennelly finished 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs. Sophomore Ayden Kampf earned the win on the mound after striking out 3 batters and allowing 5 hits, 2 walks, and 3 earned runs.
Class A South
No. 9 Southern 4, Central 2
Southern scored one run in each of the first three innings and added an insurance run in the top of the 7th to improve to 8-5 on the season. Emily Evans struck out six batters and went 2-for-4 at the plate with a double and two RBIs. Abigail Krill went 2-for with a double and run scored and Isabella DeSanto had a RBI single for Southern.
Jaelyn Witte went 2-for-3 with a RBI for Central.
Class C South
Brick Memorial 5, Barnegat 3
Brick Memorial beat Barnegat for the second time this season, but Barnegat will still win Class C South by one game with an 8-2 division record. The Mustangs took a 4-1 lead into the 6th inning and held Barnegat to just two runs to improve to 9-5 on the season. Giselle Lizardi went 1-for-3 with a double and two runs scored and Maggie Leach had a RBI double for the Mustangs. Avery Nalducci struck out 12 batters in the victory and had a RBI double at the plate.
Riley Schmidt went 1-for-2 and scored two runs and Brooke Rizzo went 2-for-3 with a double and RBI for Barnegat. Gianna Gomez struck out 12 batters on the mound and went 2-for-3 with a RBI.

No. 10 Raritan 11, Toms River East 5
Raritan continues to hit the ball well, scoring 11 runs on 16 hits to improve to 14-1. Lila Houlihan went 2-for-4 with a three RBIs and Holly Bellofatto went 4-for-4 with two doubles and three runs scored for the Rockets. Payton Fleming struck out three batters in five innings to earn the win and also hit a double. Madison Regiec tripled in two runs and Janelle Clausi scored three times for Raritan.
Freehold Boro 5, Manalapan 4
Sophomore Ashley Koppelman went 2 for 4 with a double, 2 RBIs and 2 runs to lead the Colonials (2-16) to an upset victory over the Braves (9-6). Sophomore Paige Sheridan went 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI. Senior Angelina Ciesnicki hit an RBI double.
No. 1 Donovan Catholic 4, No. 2 Red Bank Catholic 2
Senior Christina Ginex went 2 for 4 with an RBI and a run to lead the Griffins (15-0) past the Caseys (12-3) in a battle of heavyweight teams. The Griffins went ahead 1-0 at the end of the 1st inning after three throwing errors by the Caseys. The Caseys responded with a 2 run RBI from senior Lily Hagan in the bottom of the 1st. A double from junior Isabella Maria followed by more Caseys errors gave the Griffins a 3-2 lead after the 3rd inning. Ginex’s RBI brought in Maria for an insurance run who doubled again in the 7th inning. Maria finished 2 for 4 with 2 doubles and 2 runs.
No. 7 Colts Neck 15, Matawan 6
The bats were alive for the Cougars (6-7) as they had 18 hits in a win over the Huskies (8-6). Freshman Jillian Heyser went 4 for 6 as she crushed 2 home runs totaling 6 RBIs and 3 scored runs. Sophomore Katherine Rizzo went a perfect 4 for 4 with 2 doubles, a walk, and 3 RBIs. Junior Gabriella Bryce smashed a solo home run and walked twice.
Monmouth 14, Long Branch 0 (5 innings)
Junior Jordan Diefes and senior Kelly Dopazo combined to throw a no-hitter on the mound in the Falcons’ (7-7) 5-inning victory over the Green Wave (1-11). Diefes struck out 11 batters and walked 2 in 4 innings while Dopazo struck out 1 and walked 1 in an inning of action. Senior Amaya Harris went 3 for 4 with a double and 3 RBIs. Senior Marissa Herman went 3 for 4 with 3 RBIs. Freshman Ashlynne Fixsen hit a single and 3 RBIs. Diefes went 2 for 4 with a double, a walk, and 2 RBIs at the plate.
Lacey 11, Rumson-Fair Haven 0 (5 innings)
Sophomore pitcher Bella Byk struck out 11 batters and allowed just 1 hit and 1 hit batter to lead the Lions (7-7) in a win against the Bulldogs (5-8). Byk went 2 for 2 at the plate with a double, a walk, and an RBI. Senior Samantha Kohout went 2 for 4 with an RBI single. Senior Grace Laird and junior Chloe Emmons also had an RBI single in the win.
Nonconference
Highland Park 15, Keansburg 5
The Titans (2-10) fell to the Owls (10-3) despite having 10 hits. Senior Sarah Flynn went 2 for 4 with a home run, a double, and 3 RBIs in the loss.
Absegami 13, Toms River South 2
The Indians (7-10) fell behind 4-0 after the 1st inning then went down 9-0 after the top of the 2nd and never recovered in a loss to the Braves (10-2). Senior Sophia Colon crushed a solo home run in the loss.
