Shore Conference Tournament 2nd Round

(3) Red Bank Catholic 8, (14) Holmdel 0

Senior pitcher Lily Hagan struck out 10 batters and allowed just 1 hit to earn a shutout as the Caseys (16-3) defeated the Hornets (11-6). Freshman pitcher Mackenna Savage struck out 5 batters and allowed no base runners in relief. Junior catcher Jayden Kane went 2 for 4 with a triple, a double, and 3 RBIs. Sophomore 2B Grace Lombardi was 3 for 4 with a double, 2 RBIs, and a run. Senior SS Nicole Knox finished 3 for 4 with an RBI and 3 runs. Sophomore 1B Luna McPolin hit an RBI double in her lone plate appearance.

(6) Southern 10, (11) Barnegat 9

The Rams (11-6) scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 7th inning on a clutch walk off by sophomore Abigail Krill to defeat the Bengals (17-5) and advance in the Shore Conference Tournament. Krill finished 2 for 4 with a home run, a walk, 2 RBIs, and 2 runs. Senior Emily Evans went 3 for 4 with 2 doubles, 3 RBIs, and a run. Junior Emily Zellman went 1 for 1 with a triple, 4 walks, and 3 runs. Senior Kayla Riley was 1 for 3 with a walk and a run.

(1) Donovan Catholic 8, (17) Wall 1

Sophomore Isabella Cino went 2 for 3 with a solo home run and an RBI single, and junior pitcher Dani Rodriguez struck out 7 batters and allowed just 2 hits and 1 run as the Griffins (20-0) knocked off the Crimson Knights (7-7). Senior pitcher Sophia Senger struck out 4 batters and allowed just 1 hit in relief. Senior Gia Gordon was 1 for 2 with a walk and 2 RBIs. Junior Isabella Maria finished 3 for 4 with an RBI.

(9) Marlboro 8, (8) Raritan 0

Junior pitcher Emily Gaudio struck out 6 batters and allowed just 3 hits as the Mustangs (9-9) stifled the Rockets (16-3). The Mustangs took a 2-0 lead in the 2nd inning before exploding for 6 runs in the 4th inning. Sophomore RF Lily FitzPatrick went 1 for 2 with a double and 2 RBIs. Sophomore catcher Reese Grinberg was 1 for 3 with 2 RBIs. Sophomore CF Isabella Wuelfing hit an RBI triple. Senior 3B Adison Ditillo hit an RBI double. Senior SS Aimee Notaro finished 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI.

(5) Colts Neck 5, (12) Jackson Memorial 2

Trailing 1-0 going into the bottom of the 3rd inning, Colts Neck scored all five of their runs and held on to advance into the SCT quarterfinals. Angela Sasso struck out 10 batters  and had a RBI double at the plate for the Cougars. Freshman Jillian Heyser went 1-for-3 with a double and run scored and Gabriella Saveriano had a RBI single. Colts Neck will meet the No. 4 seed Middletown North for the third time this season in the quarterfinal round. The series is tied 1-1.

Emily Hersch’s scoreless inning streak ended at 16 straight innings for Jackson Memorial. Alexandra Santos went 1-for-3 with a solo home run.

(4) Middletown North 7, (20) Central 0

Senior pitcher Madilynn Boyce struck out 11 batters and allowed 5 hits and a walk in a full 7-innings to lead the Lions (10-0) past the Golden Eagles (6-12). Junior 3B Brianna Soto went 2 for 3 with a double, an RBI, and a run. Sophomore Deana Coberg was 2 for 2 with an RBI. Senior CF Hailey Keiser hit an RBI single.

(7) Middletown South 5, (10) Pinelands 0

Sophomore pitcher Riley Smith struck out 11 batters and allowed just 2 hits as the Eagles (13-3) topped the Wildcats (13-3). Sophomore catcher Nora Sarcone went 3 for 3 with a double and 3 RBIs. Sophomore Ciara Sparandaro went 2 for 4 with an RBI and a run. Junior 2B Reilly Connolly hit a double and scored a run.

Monmouth County Tournament Gold Bracket Quarterfinals

St. Rose 11, Rumson-Fair Haven 3

Junior pitcher Emily Torresdal struck out 17 batters and allowed 5 hits, 1 walk, and 1 earned run to lead the Purple Roses (9-5) past the Bulldogs (5-11). Junior SS Gianna Decina went 2 for 4 with 3 RBIs and 2 runs. Freshman catcher Elena Scelfo was 2 for 4 with a double and 2 RBIs. Senior 2B Marian Moore hit a 2 RBI single.

 

Nondivisional

Ocean 16, Brick 0 (4 innings)

Freshman pitcher Colleen Zdan struck out 3 batters and allowed just 2 hits and 1 walk in a 4-inning shutout as the Spartans (10-8) racked up 11 hits in a lopsided win over the Dragons (6-9). Sophomore Ryleigh Cerco went 2 for 3 with a walk, 3 RBIs, 2 runs, and a stolen base.
