Sophomore pitcher Bella Byk struck out 7 batters and allowed 5 hits, 1 walk, and 1 hit batter as the Lions (11-10) shut out the higher-seeded Chargers (10-8) to advance to the sectional quarterfinals. The Lions scored their first run in the top of the 3rd inning on a ground ball RBI single by Samantha Kohout after senior RF Sam Jackson was hit by a pinch before advancing to 2nd on a fielder’s choice. They added their second run in the top of the 5th inning. Kohout walked to 1st before senior 1B Nicole Scheper hit a line drive RBI single to centerfield.
Kohout finished 1 for 2 with 2 walks, an RBI, and a run. Scheper finished 1 for 3 with 2 walks and an RBI.
Central Jersey Group 2
(4) Raritan 9, (13) Monmouth 6
The Rockets (20-4) jumped out to a 4-0 lead at the end of the 1st inning and led 9-1 at the end of 3 innings before the Falcons (9-11) mounted a comeback to cut the deficit to 9-6 heading into the final inning. Sophomore pitcher Payton Fleming struck out 2 batters and allowed just 1 hit in 1.2 innings of relief to preserve the win for Raritan. Freshman 3B Lila Houlihan went 1 for 3 with RBIs. Sophomore SS Holly Bellofatto was 2 for 3 with a walk, 2 RBIs, and a run. Senior Julia DelMasto went 3 for 4 with a double, an RBI and 3 runs. Sophomore 2B Janelle Clausi was 3 for 4 with 2 runs. Freshman pitcher Katelyn Ruta went 2 for 3 at the plate with an RBI and a run.
South Jersey Group 2
(4) Medford Tech 9, (13) Manchester 0
The Hawks (5-14) saw their season come to an end at the hands of the Jaguars (17-2) out of the Burlington County Scholastic League. Junior Gabriella Minneci went 1 for 2 with a walk at the plate in the loss. Sophomore Annabelle Gray also had a single.

The Caseys (19-4) fell to the Lady Lions (23-3) of the Super Essex Conference. Senior pitcher Lily Hagan struck out 10 batters and allowed 5 hits and 3 walks in the loss. Hagan went 2 for 3 with a solo home run and a double at the plate. Junior C Jayden Kane hit a sacrifice fly.
