Monmouth County Tournament
Holmdel 10, Manasquan 6
Trailing 5-1 after the 3rd inning, Holmdel scored five runs in the top of the 4th and added two more in both the 5th and 6th innings to advance into the next round of the Monmouth County Tournament. Kasey Lau was the winning pitcher and and went 3-for-5 at the plate with two runs scored for Holmdel. Molly Debias had a RBI double and Kylee Lau went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored.
Delia Gilmore went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and Mia Law went 2-for-3 with a double and three runs scored for Manasquan.
Class A North
No. 7 Marlboro 6, No. 6 Colts Neck 4
Marlboro flipped the script against Colts Neck, scoring four runs in the top of the 7th to even the season series at one game apiece. Isabella Wuelfing went 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored and Adison Ditillo drove in two runs for the Mustangs. Emily Gaudio struck out four to earn the win and scored two runs.
Gabriella Bryce went 4-for-4 with a double, triple and two runs scored and Angelo Sasso went 2-for-4 with a double and RBI for Colts Neck.
No. 3 Red Bank Catholic 7, No. 4 Middletown North 0
RBC continues to roll in the Shore Conference, defeating their second top five team in two days to improve to 6-1. Nicole Knox hit her third home run of the season and drove in three runs for the Caseys. Torri Case also hit a solo home run for RBC and Grace Lombardi went 2-for-4 with a double and RBI. Lily Hagan struck out six batters in the shutout victory.
Adrianna Lisotto went 2-for-4 ad Madilynn Boyce struck out eight batters for Middletown North.
No. 1 St. John Vianney 7, Freehold Township 0
SJV scored four runs in the bottom of the 2nd to rebound from yesterday’s defeat and improve to 5-1 on the season. Madison McDougall struck out 9 batters over four innings in the victory. Brynn Utter went 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs and Elisabeth Figliolino drove in two runs for SJV.
Class A South
No. 2 Donovan Catholic 13, No. 9 Southern 1
Junior pitcher Dani Rodriguez struck out 3 batters and allowed just 3 hits and 1 earned run to lead Donovan Catholic past Southern. Senior Christina Ginex went 3 for 4 with 3 doubles and 3 RBI’s. Senior Gianna Apostolakos went 2 for 2 with a double and 2 RBI’s. Sophomore Isabella Cino was 3 for 4 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI’s in the win for the Griffins.
Class B North
Holmdel 7, Freehold Boro 1
Leading 3-1 in the sixth inning, Holmdel scored four runs to put the game out of reach and improve to 3-2 on the season. Julia Henderson struck out nine batters and only allowed three hits in the victory. Molly Debias went 1-for-1 with a triple and drew three walks and drove in two runs for Holmdel.
Raritan 9, Matawan, 2
Leading 2-0 after the first inning, Raritan opened the game up with six runs in the top of the 2nd to win their 5th game of the season. Katelyn Ruta struck out seven batters in the victory and drove in two runs at the plate. Julia DelMasto went 3-for-5 with a double and two runs scored and Janelle Clausi drove in three runs for Raritan.
No. 8 Middletown South 8, Monmouth 6
Class C North
Manalapan 14, Shore 10
As a team, Manalapan combined for 22 hits to outscore and defeat Shore. Senior outfielder Tonnilynn Gussett went 3 for 5 with a double and a team-high 5 RBI’s. Sophomore pitcher Sophia Miranda went 4 for 6 at the plate with a double and 2 RBI’s. Senior leadoff hitter Mary Kovaleski was 3 for 6 with 2 RBI’s. Junior Isabel Caputo finished 2 for 5 with a double and 2 RBI’s in the win for the Braves.
