May 11-May 20

 

Chiara Donahue, So., Trinity Hall

Donahue scored 12 goals and distributed 7 assists over the course of 4 games including a 4 goal and 2 assist performance in a win over Barnegat, a 5 goal and 4 assist performance in a victory over Holy Spirit, and a 3 goal and 1 assist performance in a heartbreaking loss to Southern in the Shore Conference Semifinals.

 

Delaney Falk, Sr., Southern

Falk exploded for 9 goals in a tune-up game against Seneca. She then followed that up with a memorable 5 goal and 2 assist performance in a 10-8 victory over Red Bank in the Shore Conference quarterfinals before scoring 3 goals and distributing an assist in an 8-7 thriller victory in the semifinals over the higher-seeded Trinity Hall. She added 2 more goals in the championship loss against Rumson-Fair Haven.

 

Addison Freyre, Fr., Freehold Township

Freyre has been one of the most consistent performers in the Coaches Cup. She netted a hat trick against Ranney in the 2nd round before scoring 4 goals and distributing an assist against Jackson Memorial in the quarterfinals. In an 8-6 semifinal victory over Marlboro, Freyre scored half the team’s goals with 4. The Patriots will play Toms River South in the Coaches Cup final on May 22.

 

Rachel James, Sr., Rumson-Fair Haven

James was instrumental in the Bulldogs’ run to their 3rd consecutive Shore Conference Tournament title. The senior netted a hat trick, won 4 draw controls, and forced 3 turnovers in a 17-3 win over Barnegat. She then scored a goal, tallied an assist, scooped 4 ground balls, and forced 2 turnovers in a 9-7 battle against Shore. In the championship against Southern, she sank 5 goals to lead the offensive effort in a 17-7 victory.

 

Maddie Kirchner, Jr., Ocean

Kirchner put together another of what has become a routine weekly scoring explosion. She poured in 11 goals and an assist in a regular season win against Brick. Next, she added 5 goals and an assist in the second round of the Coaches Cup against Donovan Catholic. Finally, she went out with 7 goals and 1 assist in an 11-10 quarterfinal loss against Marlboro.

 

Sofia Merten, Sr., Shore

Merten’s presence in the net nearly willed the Blue Devils into the Shore Conference Championship. She saved 11 shots in an 8-6 win over Middletown South in the quarterfinals followed by a 9 save performance in a 9-7 loss in the semifinals against Rumson-Fair Haven, one of the top teams in the state.

 

Brooke Picca, Sr., Toms River South

Picca has been one of the stars of the Coaches Cup. She scored 5 goals in a 2nd round victory over rival Toms River North. She then scored 6 goals in an epic quarterfinal win over New Egypt. The Indians will play Freehold Township in the Coaches Cup final on May 22.
