Chiara Donahue, So., Trinity Hall

Donahue earns a second straight nomination as her hot-streak continues. The sophomore scored 5 goals, distributed 3 assists, won 11 draw controls, and forced 6 turnovers in a regular season win over Pascack Valley before scoring 5 more goals, tallying 2 assists, and forcing 5 turnovers in a second round state playoff victory over Camden Catholic.

 

Emilia Ercolino, Sr., Barnegat

Ercolino sank 5 shots and tallied an assist in the final regular season game against Brick before netting a hat trick in a first round playoff win over Delran. The senior scored her 100th career goal on her final goal of the game against Delran.

 

Sophia Evans, Sr., Manasquan

Evans has scored 5 goals in 2 consecutive games including a win over Howell and a state tournament victory over Oakcrest. She also added 2 assists and 3 forced turnovers in the Howell victory.

 

Ava Matthews, So., Shore

Matthews has leveled up her scoring prowess just in time for the state playoffs. She entered the Point Boro game having never scored more than 4 goals in a day, but finished with 6 goals against the Panthers. In a follow-up performance against Haddon Heights in the first round of the state playoffs she again scored 6 goals in addition to assisting on a goal and winning 6 draw controls.

 

Brianna Nelson, Jr., Central

Nelson’s 4 goal performance in the regular season finale win over Ocean set the stage for a record setting day in the state playoffs. She registered a career-high 5 points on 4 goals and 1 assist to lead the Golden Eagles past Hightstown in a playoff overtime thriller.

 

Kat O’Connor, Sr., Rumson-Fair Haven

O’Connor has been a steady offensive presence throughout the season, but has turned it up a notch in the state playoffs. She scored 2 goals, tallied 2 assists, and forced 3 turnovers in a first round victory over Collingswood before scoring a career-high 4 goals to go along with 2 assists in a sectional quarterfinals victory over Haddon Township. The senior is committed to play for Rider next season.

 

Maddie Pierson, Fr., Red Bank

The varsity game has slowed down significantly for Pierson who has really come on at the end of the season. She registered 5 goals and an assist in a win over Donovan Catholic before registering 4 goals and 2 assists in a first round state tournament victory over Princeton.

 

Zoey Smith, Sr., Lacey

The final act of Smith’s storied career has been one of her most impressive. She scored a “modest” 7 goals, tallied 3 assists, scooped 7 ground balls, and won 17 draw controls in a win over Donovan Catholic. Next, she scored 10 goals, tallied 1 assist, scooped 8 ground balls, and won 5 draw controls in a win over New Egypt. Finally, with the season on the line in a state playoff game against Sterling, she lifted the team up with a 12 goal, 1 assist, 8 ground ball, 14 draw control, and 2 forced turnover performance in the win. The Lions scored over 20 goals in all 3 wins primarily due to Smith who is committed to Johns Hopkins.
