Week 2 Shore Sports Insider Girls Basketball Players of the Week

Each week, Shore Sports Insider will recognize the top girls basketball performers in each of the eight Shore Conference divisions and nominate those eight for the weekly SSI Player of the Week Award. Two wild cards will also be part of the contest, giving the basketball fans of the Jersey Shore 10 candidates to choose from every week. For not doing a poll for the first week of the season, this poll will have four wildcards.
Read about this weeks honorees and vote in the poll at the bottom of the post for the best as this week’s Player of the Week. Vote once per hour until the poll closes Sunday at 12 p.m.. The winner will receive a gift card to Broad Street Dough Co., with New Jersey locations in Oakhurst, Wall and Freehold.
Class A Central Player of the Week
Kiera McKown, Howell
McKown is averaging 15 points, 12 rebounds, 2.4 blocks, and 2.5 assists per game to start the season, including 17 points 22 rebounds vs Monroe and 13 points 15 rebounds vs Jackson Memorial. Her performance over the holiday break helped the Rebels win the Blue Devil Holiday Tournament for the second straight year.
Class A Coastal Player of the Week
Synai Blychanton, Red Bank
Blychanton is off a to a fantastic start, leading RBR to a 6-0 start. The junior guard is averaging 18.2 points, 5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 3.5 steals per game, including 32 points and 5 rebounds vs Freehold Twp and 17 points 10 rebounds vs RFH in the WOBM final. She was named MVP of the 40th WOBM Christmas Classic in the Ray Cervino Bracket.
Class A North Player of the Week
Kimi Sayson, Shore Regional
Sayson, a senior, has gotten off to a fast start for the 3-2 Blue Devils. Sayson is averaging 16 points 6 rebounds 4 assists and 5 steals per game, including 24 points vs Toms River East and 15 points 8 rebounds vs St Joseph Hill in overtime in the semifinal round of the Blue Devil Holiday Tournament.
Class A South Player of the Week
Grace Crowley, Toms River East
The senior leader has done a great job leading a young Toms River East squad to start the season. Crowley is averaging 10.2 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4.4 steals per game including 13 points and 10 rebounds against Brick Township. She scored 18 points and grabbed 9 rebounds in the WOBM Christmas Classic semifinal round against Toms River North on the way to leading the Raiders into the finals of the Kathy Snyder Bracket.
Class B Central Player of the Week
Erin Frauenheim- Pt Beach
The consistent senior continues to pace the Garnet Gulls early in the season. Frauenheim is averaging 18 points 10 rebounds and 3 steals per game, including 21 points 4 rebounds vs Lacey and 21 points 11 rebounds vs Brick Memorial.
Class B Coastal Player of the Week
Princess Graves, Keansburg
Graves, a junior, is doing a great job leading the Titans to a 4-0 start. Graves is averaging 16 points 12 rebounds and 2.5 steals per game, including 18 points 12 rebounds vs South River and 21 points 13 rebounds vs South Amboy. Graves averaged a double-double in the Middlesex/Shore Holiday tournament to help Keansburg win the championship.
Class B North Player of the Week
Leomary Diaz-Merino, Long Branch
Diaz-Merino is starting off her senior season as strongly as she ended her junior or season. Diaz-Merino is averaging a gaudy 27.5 points 6 rebounds 3.2 stand 4 steals per game for the 3-1 Green Wave. Diaz-Merino has a 30 point game vs Lacey and a 29 point 15 rebound game vs Shore.
Class B South Player of the Week
Emma Thornton, Barnegat
The Senior East Stroudsburg commit continues to be a double-double machine for the 4-0 Bengals. Thornton is averaging 18 points 15 rebounds and 3 assists per game, including 20 points 20 rebounds vs Brick Memorial and 22 points 15 rebounds vs St Dominic’s in the Boardwalk Classic.
Wild Cards
Kylee Beam, Howell
The sophomore big is off to a big start for the 4-0 Rebels. One half of the Twin Towers, Beam is averaging 15 points 10 rebounds 2.8 assists and 2.1 steals per game, including 21 points 18 rebounds vs Raritan. In the Blue Devil Holiday Tournament final, Beam scored 19 points and grabbed 12 rebounds against St Joseph Hill. Beam helped the Rebels win their second straight Blue Devil Holiday Tournament and was named MVP.
Stella Lockhart, St. John Vianney
Lockhart had a busy summer touring the country, playing against high level competition, and those hours are paying off. The Junior is averaging 14 points and 6.5 rebounds for the Lancers, including 19 points 8 rebounds vs Paul VI and 25 points 9 rebounds vs Bayonne.
Addy Nyemchek, RBC
The junior is off a rousing start for the nationally ranked Casey’s. Nyemchek is averaging 17.4 points 8.4 rebounds 2.6 assists and 2.3 steals per game, including 24 points 13 rebounds vs VA Academy and 19 points 14 rebounds vs South Shore.
Mackenzie Teevan, Holmdel
Teevan, a Holy Cross commit, is dominating the competition for the 3-1 Hornets. Teevan is averaging 18 points and 12 rebounds, including 16 points 13 rebounds vs Union City and 25 points and 14 rebounds vs Marlboro.
Grace Feeney, Trinity Hall
Feeney has had a fast start to the season averaging 16 points a games to lead the Monarchs in scoring. In the Score at the Shore tournament she averaged 19.7 points a game and helped Trinity Hall reach the finals where they fell in overtime.
