Week 5 Shore Sports Insider Girls Basketball Players of the Week

Each week, Shore Sports Insider will recognize the top girls basketball performers in each of the eight Shore Conference divisions and nominate those eight for the weekly SSI Player of the Week Award. Four wild cards will also be part of the contest, giving the basketball fans of the Jersey Shore 12 candidates to choose from every week.

Read about this weeks honorees and vote in the poll at the bottom of the post for the best as this week’s Player of the Week. Vote once per hour until the poll closes Sunday at 10 p.m. The winner will receive a gift card to Broad Street Dough Co., with New Jersey locations in Oakhurst, Wall and Freehold.

 

Class A Central
Jordyn Hollawell, Manasquan
Hollawell, a junior point guard, averaged 14 points over three games, including a 14 point 7 rebound effort in an upset win over St Rose.  Hollowell also led the Warriors with 16 points in an out of conference loss to Gloucester Catholic.
Class A Coastal
Addy Nyemchek, Red Bank Catholic
Nyemchek scored 14 points, 12 in the second half, in a win over No. 1 St John Vianney.  Nyemchek also scored 24 points in a win over Franklin in the More Than A Highlight Showcase in Elizabeth.
Class A North
Haley Poser, Ranney
Poser, a Lafayette commit, had a solid week for the Panthers.  Poser averaged 20 points over three games, including a 17 point, 10 assist double-double against Shore, and a 26 point outburst in a non-conference win over Blair.
Class A South
Grace Crowley, Toms River East
Crowley has led TRE to a surprising 12-3 start to the season.  Crowley averaged 16 points over three games, including a 21 point effort in a divisional win over Donovan Catholic
Class B Central
Vanessa Haas, Point Pleasant Boro
Haas has become a familiar name on the Player of the Week list.  Haas averaged 17 points over three games, including a career-high 25 points vs Brick Memorial, and an 18 point 10 rebound double-double vs Wall
Class B Coastal
Laila Iasparro, Middletown North
Iasparro led Middletown North to a 3-0 week.  Iasparro averaged 13 points over three games, including a 14 point 4 assist effort against Raritan.  Iasparro also scored 12 against Toms River South in the Slam Dunk Autism Challenge.
Class B North
Brianna Libretti, Manalapan
Libretti had a fantastic week for the Braves.  Libretti averaged 23 points over three games, including a 25 point effort against Long Branch, and a career-high 27 points against Ocean.
Class B South
Reece Paget, Lacey
Paget, a Seton Hall soccer commit, continues to have a solid season for the Lions.  Paget averaged 16 points over three games, including a monster 18 point 21 rebounds double-double vs Donovan Catholic and a 17 point 12 rebound effort against Brick Township.
Wild Cards
Christa Ramos,  Neptune
Ramos had another solid week for the Scarlet Fliers.  Ramos averaged 20 points over three games, including a 25 point game in a tough loss to St Rose.
Mackenzie Teevan, Holmdel
Teevan, a Holy Cross commit, averaged 18 points over three games, including a gaudy 25 point and 18 rebound game vs Hightstown.
Cara Sarluca, Toms River North
Sarluca continues to have a solid season for the Mariners.  Sarluca averaged 17 points over two games, including a 20 point, 7 rebound effort vs Donovan Catholic
Leomary Diaz-Merino,  Long Branch
Diaz-Merino continues to have the hot hand for the Green Wave.  Diaz-Merino averaged 26 points over two games, including a 30 point outburst against Monmouth.  The 30 points versus Monmouth was Diaz-Merino’s third 30 point game of the season.
