Senior attackman Anthony Tufte registered five points with three goals and two assists and junior goalie Connor Doel made eight saves to backstop a gritty defensive performance as the Braves (11-10) rallied past the Falcons (6-10) to advance to the sectional quarterfinals for the third straight year.
Monroe led 3-1 after the first quarter and 4-1 early in the second quarter before Manalapan began its comeback. Senior Jack Schatz scored to make it 4-2 before junior attackman Nick Tufte sank an extra-man goal off a setup from junior Eli Greenberg at 4:01. Tufte tied the score 4-4 with 2:08 left in the half.
Tufte then scored twice in the first five minutes of the third quarter for a natural hat trick and a 6-4 Manalapan lead. The teams traded goals in the fourth with Anthony Tufte setting up senior midfielder Matt Avivi and Nick Tufte to preserve the Braves’ advantage and clinch the victory.
Senior defenseman Dennis Gabinelli and sophomore defenseman Nick Palmieri each recorded multiple caused turnovers, while senior short-stick defensive midfielder Scott Hill provided lockdown man-to-man coverage to lead Manalapan’s defense.
Manalapan will travel south to face top-seeded Kingsway in the quarterfinals, which is tentatively scheduled for Monday, June 2. Kingsway (19-0) is New Jersey’s lone unbeaten team and advanced to the quarterfinals with a 24-0 win over Millville on Thursday.
(6) Howell 12, (11) Lenape 2
A trio of hat tricks from seniors Jayden Devino, Vincent Meehan, and Nicholas Turturro propelled the Rebels (14-4) past the Indians (4-15). Devino and Meehan finished with an assist in addition to their 3 goals. Meehan surpassed the 100 point milestone finishing the game at 103 career points. Junior attacker Mike Kelly scored 2 goals. Junior attacker Travis Kimball scored a goal while junior attacker Mason Morgan added 1 goal. Senior goalie Adam Baker recorded 11 saves in the win.
Howell will travel to face No. 3 seed Eastern in the sectional quarterfinals.
(15) Rancocas Valley at (2) Southern 4:30 p.m. – postponed to Friday at 1 p.m.
North Jersey Group 3
(9) Red Bank 13, (8) Princeton 4
Junior attackman Gabe Pape scored six goals and sent out two assists to lead the charge as the Bucs used a 9-2 second-half run to break the game open and roll into the quarterfinals.
Red Bank led 4-2 at halftime before scoring five times in the third quarter and four times in the fourth. SophomoreJustin Valentino also had a big game with three goals and five assists and junior goalie Owen Montgomery made 13 saves. Freshman Ryder Kunkel recorded a goal and three assists to tie his career-best for points in a game. Junior Nate Pelensky and senior Lucas Fels scored once and freshman CJ Koster scored his first varsity goal. Freshman MJ Keating chipped in with two assists.
Red Bank will face top-seeded Summit, last season’s Group 2 state champion, in the quarterfinals.
South Jersey Group 3
(8) Brick Memorial 7, (9) Colts Neck 6
Dylan Terry scored the go-ahead goal midway through the third quarter and Justin Karlbon added an insurance goal that stood as the game-winner as the Mustangs (13-7) held off the Cougars (9-10) to reach the section quarterfinals.
Brick Memorial will play top-seeded Mooresetown in the quarterfinals.

Junior goalie Jack Tiller made five saves, senior FOGO Jack Powers won 8 of 12 face-offs, and the Hornets (8-9) played stifling defense to shut down the Pioneers (6-10) and advance to the sectional quarterfinals.
Freshman midfielder Anthony Serini netted a hat trick for the second time this season while junior attacker Finn Buchan scored two goals and tallied three assists. Senior attacker Brian Volpe added two goals and an assist. Sophomore attacker David Perrotti scored once while sophomore midfielder Joey Marino tallied an assist.
Holmdel will face No. 2 seed West Morris (9-9) in the quarterfinals.
South Jersey Group 2
(2) Wall 18, (15) Absegami 7
Junior attacker Wyatt Capro netted six goals and distributed two assists to match his career-high in points as the Crimson Knights (9-11) marched past the Braves (7-9) and into the sectional quarterfinals.
Junior midfielder Patrick Freud registered a hat trick and six assists for a game-high nine points, while. Senior midfielder Michael Hoarle scored three goals and dished out two assists and senior attackman Jackson Lemongelli added three goals and one assist. Senior midfielder Joe Vaccaro and sophomore attacker Thomas Dollive had a goal and an assist each. Junior midfielder Dylan Cohen scored a goal while freshman midfielder Garret Tidwell distributed an assist. Senior goalie Braeden Buckley recorded five saves in the win.
Wall will face No. 7 seed Seneca in the quarterfinals.

(4) Shore 15, (13) Lower Cape May 4
Junior attackman Reid Spallone recorded a career-best seven points for the second straight game to lead an offensive barrage that propelled the Blue Devils (12-5) past the Caper Tigers (7-11) and into the sectional quarterfinals.
Spallone scored five goals and added two assists as one of four Shore players with four points or more. Senior midfielder Lukas Villa scored three goals and assisted on three more, senior midfielder Tucker Malfa tallied three goals and two assists, and sophomore midfielder Brady McHugh posted two goals and two assists. Senior attackman Braden Miller and junior attackman Jack Madalone each scored once. Junior midfielder John Mazzacco and freshman LSM Justin Cregle distributed two assists each. Sophomore goalie Joey Longo turned aside 12 shots to deny Lower Cape May.
Shore will host 5th-seeded Glen Ridge in the quarterfinals.
