NJSIAA Tournament

Sectional Semifinals

South Jersey Non-Public A

(3) St. Peter’s Prep 59, (2) CBA 46

Sophomore Izayah Cooper scored 18 of his 20 points in the second half and CBA’s shooting came around after a cold start, but it was not enough for the Colts (24-4) to catch up to the Marauders (27-3), who advanced to the sectional final Monday at Lenape High School against No. 4 St. Joseph of Metuchen.

CBA missed its first 16 three-point attempts before Cooper hit two in the final 1:13 of the third quarter to help CBA cut a 40-17 deficit to 41-25 heading to the fourth quarter. The Colts ended the game 6-for-28 from beyond the three-point line.

A three by Cooper followed by a jump hook by senior Connor Andree pulled CBA with 51-41 with 1:50 left, but St. Peter’s Prep went 6-for-8 from the free-throw line and also beat the press for a dunk by Nick Ferdinand during the final minute.

Andree finished with 10 points and five rebounds and fellow senior Charlie Marcoullier hit a pair of three-pointers in the fourth quarter to notch eight points off the bench in the final game of his CBA career.

St. Peter’s seized control of the game with a 13-0 run that spanned the last four minutes of the third quarter and the first 1:40 of the second, giving the Marauders a 17-6 lead. The visitors then closed the half with a 7-2 burst that pushed the lead to 28-12 at the break.

Ferdinand scored nine of his 20 points in the second quarter to go with 12 rebounds, Mason Santiago added 18 points and 14 boards, and Bishop Foster scored eight of his 11 in the fourth quarter to help St. Peter’s close out the win.
