(5) Marlboro 61, (21) Toms River South 30

Junior Dylan McEwan scored 12 of his game-high 26 points in the second quarter and the Mustangs (17-4) rumbled to a win over the Indians (13-12) to earn a spot in the SCT quarterfinals for the first time in four years. Marlboro will face No. 4 Howell for the third time this season in the first game of the day at Middletown South, with tip-off set for 11 a.m. on Saturday.

Junior Nolan Gong added 12 points, five rebounds and three assists while senior Christian Elmasri chipped in 10 points, five rebounds and six assists for Marlboro. Senior center Drew Luback owned the glass with 15 rebounds to go with four points and five assists in the win.

Seniors Brady Gibson and Jake Myers each scored 10 points to lead Toms River South.

(2) Wall 57, (15) Ocean 42

Senior Dan Hennessy scored 14 of his 16 points in the second half to go with six rebounds and the Crimson Knights (18-1) rolled past the Spartans (15-9) and into the SCT quarterfinals for the first time in six years. Wall will take on No. 7 Manasquan in the third game of the Saturday slate at Middletown South, with tip-off scheduled for 2:30 p.m.

Wall opened the game with 12 straight points on the way to a 27-17 halftime lead, sparked by senior Brian McKenna scoring 11 of his 13 points in the first half. McKenna also pulled in six rebounds and handed out four assists.

Senior Jake DeBrito added 10 points and classmate Liam Killea pitched in eight points, six rebounds and three assists for Wall, which put the game out of reach with a 19-7 third quarter that stretched the lead to 46-24.

Senior Aidan Saint Louis scored 13 points and freshman Ahmad Ayyash added 12 to lead Ocean.

(8) Holmdel 60, (9) Rumson-Fair Haven 48

Senior Jack Vallillo scored a game-high 28 points, including a pair of three-pointers during a game-deciding, 21-6 run by the Hornets (13-6) to close out the Bulldogs (15-8) and earn them a spot in their third straight SCT quarterfinals. Holmdel will take on top-seeded CBA at 12:45 p.m. Saturday at Middletown South.

Vallillo hit a three-pointer from the right wing that pulled Holmdel even, 42-42, and kicked off a 15-2 run that flipped Holmdel’s three-point deficit into a 54-44 lead with under two minutes to play. Vallillo also hit a three that made it 50-44 after Rumson cut its deficit to three.

Sophomore Anthony Serini added 14 points and senior Connor Paul pitched in nine for Holmdel. Senior Blake Ahmann led Rumson with 16 points, while senior Luke Lydon netted 10 and freshman Clint Martin contributed eight for the Bulldogs, who played without senior Luke Cruz for the second straight game.

(1) CBA 78, (17) Point Boro 39

Sophomore Izayah Cooper scored a game-high 17 points and the Colts (20-3) caught fire to start the second quarter, when the pulled away to beat the Panthers (14-8), earning them a spot in the Shore Conference quarterfinals for a sixth straight year.

Senior Charlie Marcoulier led a balanced supporting cast with 12 points on four three-pointers, while senior Connor Andree contributed 10 points for CBA, which opened the second quarter with a 10-0 run that established a 23-8 lead. Senior Charlie Messano also threw in nine points and classmate Matt Veisz netted eight in the win.

Freshman Chase Scarponi scored 12 points and senior Jovin Steinmetz added 11 to lead Point Boro.

(4) Howell 53, (13) Middlet0wn South 52

Senior Cayden Parker drove for the go-ahead layup with 40 seconds left and Howell’s defense made the basket stand up as the game-winner as the Rebels (18-4) held on for a win over the Eagles (14-9) that sends them to the Shore Conference Tournament quarterfinals for the second time in three years. Howell — which also set a single-season program record with its 18th win of the year — will play No. 5 Marlboro Saturday at 11 a.m. at Middletown South.

Parker finished with 15 points, while junior brother Jayson Parker led Howell with 17. Senior Michael Fitzpatrick and freshman Ryan Gannon each scored 14 points to lead Middletown South.

(11) Ranney 67, (6) Jackson 50

Junior Alex Heyser poured in a game-high 20 points and the Panthers (13-8) shot their way into the lead, then clamped down on the Jaguars (15-5) in the fourth quarter to earn a spot in the SCT quarterfinals for the second time in four years. Ranney will take on No. 3 Red Bank Catholic Saturday in the final game of the day at Middletown South High School, which is scheduled for a 4:15 p.m. tip-off.

Senior Shaan Nayar backed up Heyser with 19 points, including eight during a third quarter, after which Ranney led, 46-40, heading to the fourth quarter. Ranney then held Jackson without a field goal for the first five minutes of the fourth quarter as they opened up a double-digit lead. Junior Ben Schaeffer netted 13 points and classmate Andrew Mardahaev chipped in eight in the win.

Senior George Boley matched Heyser witha game-high 20 points to lead Jackson. Classmates Jimmy Pappalardo and Yaseer Johnson each poured in 10 in the loss.

(3) Red Bank Catholic 60, (14) Point Beach 44

Junior Gavin Biasi scored 14 of his 21 points during a scoreboard-shifting third quarter that powered the Caseys (17-6) to a win over the Garnet Gulls (18-7) that sends them to the SCT quarterfinals for the first time in four years.

RBC will close out Saturday’s four-game slate at Middletown South by taking on Class B North division rival Ranney at 4:15 p.m. The two teams split their regular-season series, with Ranney winning the more recent meeting in overtime.

Point Beach led RBC, 24-23, at halftime before Biasi led a 19-9 run during the third quarter that send the Caseys to the fourth with a 42-33 lead. Junior Ryder Ciorciari added 13 points and senior James Hankowski scored all 10 of his points in the fourth quarter to help RBC close out the win.

Junior Tyler Preston scored 14 points and classmate Danny Cavanaugh threw in 11 to lead Point Beach.

(7) Manasquan 58, (10) Freehold Twp. 51

Senior Jack Lattimer nailed six three-pointers on the way to a career-high 21 points and the Warriors (12-8) battled past the Patriots (12-9) to reach the Shore Conference quarterfinal round for the 15th straight season. Manasquan will now prepare for a rematch Saturday with No. 2 Wall, which beat the Warriors, 40-20, in the Kevin Williams Classic semifinals in December.

Junior Logan Cleveland added 12 points and six rebounds for Manasquan, while sophomores Noah Matuch and Kennedy Larned each scored all of their seven points apiece in the second half. Matuch also grabbed five rebounds and Larned dished out three assists.

Freehold Township cut a nine-point fourth-quarter deficit to 52-50 with 54 seconds left, but could not get closer thanks to Manasquan’s 6-for-8 showing from the free-throw line to close the game, including 4-for-4 by sophomore Sean Bilodeau.

Juniors Jake Schultzel and John O’Neill combined for 39 points for Freehold Township after the duo combined for zero in a 54-41 loss to Manasquan on Jan. 10. Schultzel led the Patriots with 20 points and six rebounds before fouling out, while O’Neill went for 19 and 10 in the loss.

Junior JoJo Newell pumped in 28 points and the Admirals (16-7) coasted to a win over Great Oaks (2-12). Junior Masio Tucker added 16 points, junior Jack Carlstrom chipped in 12 and classmate Jaxsen Schmeidel netted nine for Henry Hudson.

Dayton 54, Keyport 47

Senior Kai Arrington erupted for 41 points, but the Red Raiders (10-13) scored just six other points in the entire game in a loss to the Bulldogs (10-11).

Central 47, Hamilton West 41

Junior Derek Roth posted 13 points and three assists and classmate Tyler Woermer added 12 points, 12 rebounds and four steals to lead the Golden Eagles (15-8) over the Hornets (7-16).
