Week 9 OIB Ortho Team of the Week: Middletown North Football

Middletown North Lions earned their first victory since 2016 over the crosstown rival Middletown South Eagles
The Week 9 recipient of the 2025 OIB Ortho Team of the Week is Middletown North, following the Lions’ hard-fought 28-19 victory over Middletown South.
On Tuesday, SSI visited practice to present Head Coach Steve Bush and the team with a commemorative game ball and the $500 Joe Leone’s gift card for a well-earned pasta party.
The Lions (4-4) left no doubt about who rules North/South rivery, rolling past the Eagles (3-6) to advance to the Central Jersey Group 4 semifinals.
The Lions (4-4) earned their first win since 2016 over crosstown rival Middletown South (3-6), with a thrilling 28-19 victory that sends them to the Central Jersey Group 4 semifinals.
Junior running back Matt Belenko sparked the offense with a 75-yard touchdown run in the first quarter and added another from 14 yards out in the second. Senior quarterback Owen Robson connected with Kade Little for a two-point conversion to make it 14-0.
Middletown South answered back with two touchdown passes from Luca Donofrio to Logan Burbank, but the Lions responded when Robson hit Daniel Sigler on a 25-yard TD pass late in the third. The game was sealed when Little returned an interception 45 yards for a touchdown, clinching the win and the OIB Ortho Team of the Week title.

Next Game Friday 11/7 – Middletown North will travel to Manalapan in the Central Jersey Group 4 semifinals.
