No. 2 Brick Memorial 16, No. 6 Toms River East 1 (5 Innings)
Lucas Melton crushed a solo home run in the top of the first inning, but junior Zach Pirnik bounced back by striking out 10 in five three-hit frames, while the Brick Memorial offense posted two big innings in an opening-day win over the Raiders.
Dan Golembiewski immediately gave Brick Memorial the lead with a two-run double to the right-centerfield fence to make it 2-1. The Mustangs added two more runs in the first, with senior Trevor Kish cashing in an RBI single and sophomore Jack Moriarty adding a sacrifice fly.
Pirnik worked around isolated hits in the second and fourth innings to get the game to the bottom of the fourth still 4-1, at which point Brick Memorial blew it wide open with a 12-run rally in which 17 batters came to the plate.

Senior catcher Frank Soos drove in three runs in the bottom of an eight-run fourth inning and battery-mate John Catanio finished off a six-inning one-hitter with no walks to secure the Crimson Knights a season-opening win over the Jaguars.
Catanio led off the fourth with a walk and Soos drove him in with an RBI double that opened the floodgates for Wall after the game remained scoreless for three-and-a-half innings. Sophomore Luke Dana blasted a two-run triple to make it 3-0, Catanio lined a two-out, two-run single to center for a 6-0 lead and Soos capped the rally with a two-run double.

Manasquan 5, Central 0
Senior left-hander Chase Kaplan fired a 15-strikeout no-hitter with three walks and senior Liam Opatosky belted two two-run homers to lead the Warriors to an opening-day win over the Golden Eagles.
Opatosky connected on two-run tanks in the third and seventh innings, both of which came after Kellan Quinn opened the scoring with an RBI single in the top of the first.
The RBI single also came before Kaplan took the mound and it was all the help he needed. The Lafayette commit also hit two batters, but allowed only six balls in play and set a new single-game career-high for strikeouts while finishing the first seven-inning complete game of his high school career. Kaplan pitched as deep as 6 2/3 innings last year and struck out 14 in five innings on 2025 opening day vs. St. Rose. His only other seven-inning outing was in May of 2024, which came in a no-decision for Kaplan in an extra-inning win over Hamilton West.
