The Week 5 recipient of the 2025 OIB Ortho Football Team of the Week is Brick Memorial following the Mustangs’ hard-fought 55-41 victory over No. 2 Holmdel
On Tuesday, SSI visited practice to present head coach Walt Currie and the team with a commemorative game ball and the $500 Joe Leone’s gift card for a well-earned pasta party.
BRICK MEMORIAL MAKES A STATEMENT
The Mustangs reminded everyone in the Shore Conference exactly who they are after a 55–41 thriller over last week’s No. 2 Holmdel, powered by a school-record performance from senior quarterback Jason Lajara.
Lajara was electric — throwing for 411 yards, one of the highest single-game totals in Shore Conference history, and four touchdowns, while also running for three more. It was arguably the most dominant individual performance of the season anywhere in the Shore.
Brick Memorial has already notched Top 10 wins over Wall, Point Boro, and Holmdel. Their only setbacks came against Rumson (without Lajara) and a one-point loss to Donovan Catholic.
Next up: the Mustangs face their crosstown rival Brick Green Dragons, before a marquee Week 7 showdown with No. 2 Southern, where they’ll have another chance to prove they belong among the Shore’s elite.
Week-6 10/10/25 game: Friday vs. Brick (3-3).
