Quarterfinals

(1) Freehold Twp. 78, (8) Matawan 50

Sophomores Jake Schultzel and John O’Neill combined for 38 points and 19 rebounds to lead the Patriots over the Huskies and into the Coaches Cup semifinals on Thursday.

Shultzel led all scorers with 22 points while also grabbing 10 rebounds and dishing out three assists. O’Neill, meanwhile, posted 16 points, nine rebounds, five assists and three steals. Fellow sophomore Sam Hawksby added 10 points and classmate Cole Gerigk chipped in eight, giving the sophomore quartet 56 points. Senior Nick Cardone also contributed eight points, six rebounds and four assists in the win.

Senior Amir Martinez matched Schultzel with 22 points to lead Matawan and junior Ben Morales poured in 11 in the loss.

(3) Brick Memorial 55, (6) Donovan Catholic 47

Senior Joe Witter scored a game-high 20 points and ripped down 14 rebounds to spark the Mustangs to a win over the Griffins that sends Brick Memorial to the Coaches Cup semifinals Thursday at No. 2 Neptune.

Junior Sean Collins put up 15 points, six rebounds, three assists and four steals while classmate Jason Lajara chipped in 12 points, seven rebounds, three assists and three steals for Brick Memorial.

Junior Pat Gallo scored 19 points and sophomore Gabe Feliciano added 10 to lead Donovan Catholic, which played without senior guard Ryan Jacobs.

(2) Neptune 47, (7) Keyport 45

Senior JayVione Rogers scored 14 points and the Scarlet Fliers battled past the Red Raiders to advance to the Coaches Cup semifinals Thursday against No. 3 Brick Memorial.

Junior Jordan Pierre and senior Jayden Myrthil each added eight points for Neptune and senior Faniel Shakur gave the Scarlet Fliers a 46-43 lead on a three-pointer with 56 seconds left.

Senior Nico Dispenza scored 14 points and junior Kai Arrington added 11 to lead Keyport.

(5) Middletown South 72, (4) Point Boro 67 (OT)

Senior Brady Hahn scored the 1,000th point of his career in the fourth quarter and hit a go-ahead three-pointer to give Middletown South the lead for good in overtime as the Eagles knocked off the Panthers on the road to advance to Thursday’s Coaches Cup semifinals at top-seeded Freehold Township.

Hahn scored a game-high 27 points to lead Middletown South, with junior Matt Trimble adding 17 and junior Nick Cannizzaro chipping in 10 for the Eagles.

Sophomore Hunter Hynes scored 22 points and senior Drew Cardia added 14 to lead Point Boro, which sent the game to overtime with a game-tying putback by seniro Hudson Griffin with two seconds left in regulation.

Non-Division

No. 9 Colts Neck 61, Manchester 55

Senior Dan Buoncore hit five three-pointers on the way to a team-high 21 points as the Cougars took down the Hawks on the road.

Senior Lukas Sloane added 12 points, junior Dillon Younger chipped in 11 and senior Bryce Belcher netted eight to highlight the supporting effort for Colts Neck.

Senior Aidan Lunn scored a game-high 26 points and classmate M.J. Goins poured in 22 to lead Manchester.

Howell 65, Marlboro 48

Sophomore Noah Musto led four Howell players in double-figure scoring with 20 points and the Rebels outscored the Mustangs, 28-10, in the fourth quarter to pull out the victory.

Senior Peter Barkauskas added 15 points, sophomore Jayden Parker scored 12 and junior Cayden Parker chipped in 11 for Howell. Senior Zach Padilla led a defensive effort that held Marlboro sophomore Nolan Gong to 13 points, including one field goal in the second half. Junior Ajay Matthews also scored 10 points for Marlboro.

St. John Vianney 63, Shore 51

Sophomore Nicky Mejia scored a career-high 27 points and the Lancers stormed to a win over the Blue Devils. Sophomore Justin Togans added 16 points for St. John Vianney.

Senior Bryce Crowe and junior Andrew Barham each scored 13 points to lead Shore.

Toms River South 60, Monmouth 31

Junior Shane Gambarony scored 24 points and classmate Jacob Myers netted 12 as the Indians hammered the Falcons. Junior Michael Griffin and sophomore Logan Conrade each scored nine points to lead Monmouth.

Lacey 87, Jackson Liberty 79

Senior Frank Smith scored 24 points and senior Maris Mooney pitched in 22 points and eight assists to lead Lacey to a win over Jackson Liberty in a battle of the Lions.

Senior Jon Stabile also posted 12 points and eight rebounds in the win. Junior Aiden Brown scored 22 points and sophomore Aidan Kelly added 17 to lead Jackson Liberty.

Toms River East 40, Toms River North 31

Freshmen Brady Gillen and Tommy Intintola combined for 34 of Toms River East’s 40 points as the Raiders rode the freshman scoring and team defense to a second win over the Mariners this season. Gillen scored a game-high 21 points and Intintola poured in 13.

Senior Mekai Morse and freshman Jake Greenberg each scored six points to lead Toms River North.

Henry Hudson 61, Lakewood 51

Senior Jack Fitzpatrick scored 25 points and sophomore JoJo Newell kicked in 15 to carry the Admirals to a win over the Piners.

Junior Cris Rosario scored a game-high 27 points to lead Lakewood.

Keansburg 51, Perth Amboy Magnet 39

Junior A’Son Young scored 16 points and senior Ja’Zier Wynn added 12 to power the Titans to a win over Perth Amboy Magnet.
