Class A North

No. 1 CBA 79, No. 3 Rumson-Fair Haven 48

Senior Connor Andree led a balanced offensive attack with 14 points while also grabbing seven rebounds and three steals as the Colts (10-1, 3-0) shook off a cold start shooting the ball to run away with a road win over the Bulldogs (10-2, 2-1).

Andree led five CBA players with at least nine points and none of them were the Colts’ top two scorers on the season, junior Avery Lynch and sophomore Izayah Cooper. Junior David Buley, senior Charlie Messano and junior Will Grier each scored 10 points and senior Charlie Marcoullier knocked down three three-pointers for nine points. Grier also grabbed six rebounds and, along with Messano and Marcoullier, led a CBA bench that accounted for 42 points.

Cooper added seven points, four rebounds and six assists while Lynch finished with six points, six rebounds and three assists for CBA. The Colts started 1-for-9 from three-point range before hitting four of their last five attempts of the first half to take a 37-25 lead into the break. Grier hit two of his three attempts from beyond the arc in the first half and Buley and Messano hit back-to-back threes just before the half to turn a six-point lead into a 12-point advantage. CBA finished 13-for-30 (43 percent) from three-point range for the game.

Freshman Clint Martin led Rumson with 18 points and six rebounds while senior teammate Blake Ahmann chipped in 10 points and eight rebounds.

 

Class A South

Southern 58, Barnegat 40

Junior Noah Perna blew past the 1,000-point mark for his career during a 24-point performance and the Rams (5-5, 2-1) separated themselves in the second half to grab a win over the Bengals (5-5, 0-2). Perna also made an impact on defense with four steals and two blocked shots.

Junior center and Barnegat transfer Gavin Gerckens added eight points, 10 rebounds and four blocked shots, while fellow junior Chase Petrizzi also threw in eight points.

No. 10 Central 49, Donovan Catholic 47 (2OT)

Junior Derek Roth posted 17 points, 12 rebounds and five assists and the Golden Eagles (7-3, 3-0) outlasted the Griffins (4-4, 0-2) to pull out a double-overtime win on the road.

Junior Cijier Yates poured in 16 points and senior Elijah Reed contributed six points, 15 rebounds, four steals and five blocked shots for Central. Freshman Gerard Gallo scored a game-high 19 points and senior Pat Gallo pitched in eight to lead Donovan Catholic.

 

Class B South

Toms River South 55, Toms River North 52

Senior Karsin Migliori hit five three-pointers for a career-high 18 points and the Indians (7-5, 1-2) closed the game on a 10-2 run to upend the Mariners (4-7, 1-2) at RWJBarnabas Health Arena.

Senior Shane Gambarony pitched in 14 points, classmate Jacob Myers added 10 and junior Nate Johnson buried three three-pointers to give him nine points for Toms River South, which hit 10 three-pointers as a team.

Senior Jayden Thomas scored 14 points and sophomore Jake Greenberg netted 13 to lead Toms River North. Junior Jackson Sias also kicked in nine points in the loss.

No. 7 Point Beach 61, Toms River East 54

Senior Jacob Edgecomb scored 14 points, including the 1,000th of his career, and the Garnet Gulls (9-2, 3-0) started fast before out-dueling the Raiders (5-5, 1-2) for a road win.

Edgecomb scored nine of his points in the first half, while junior Ryan Mahoney also poured in 14 for Point Beach, which stormed out to a 14-3 lead through one quarter without allowing a field goal in the first eight minutes. Junior George Breckenridge chipped in 11 points for the Garnet Gulls.

Sophomore Brady Gillen scored a game-high 22 points while also contributing five rebounds and four assists to lead Toms River East. Fellow sophomore Tommy Intintola added 13 points and 10 rebounds in the loss.

Point Boro 52, Brick Memorial 50

Senior Jovin Steinmetz scored 17 points on the back of 11-for-11 shooting from the free-throw line to go with five rebounds and the Panthers (5-4, 2-1) held on to beat the Mustangs (5-6, 1-2) at home.

Junior Hunter Hynes added nine points, eight rebounds and four steals, while seniors Nick Carmino and Dean Cardia each pitched in eight points for Point Boro. Carmino also handed out four assists and swiped three steals, while Cardia handed out three assists. Junior Landon Hoyle contributed six points and nine rebounds as well for the Panthers.

Brick Memorial had a chance to tie the game with 0.5 seconds left, when senior Sean Collins was fouled on a three-point attempt with Point Boro leading, 52-49. Collins missed the first free throw, hit the second and missed the third on purpose to give his team a chance at the offensive rebound, but Brick Memorial was called for a lane violation. Point Boro inbounded the ball to run out the clock.

 

Class C South

Pinelands 56, Lakewood 39

Junior Cayden Lucas led a well-rounded attack with 16 points and the Wildcats (6-2, 2-0) coasted to a win over the Piners (1-8, 0-3). Junior Donny Johnston added 14 points and four steals, junior Chris Husni posted 11 points and six assists, and senior Josh Barongo contributed eight points and eight rebounds for Pinelands.

Sophomore Abel Martinez scored 14 points, sophomore Tyrese Jones chipped in 10 and freshman Cam Galarza threw in eight to lead Lakewood.

Manchester 62, Lacey 55

Sophomore Justin Roberts pumped in a game-high 29 points, including an 11-for-11 showing from the free-throw line in guiding the Hawks (3-8, 2-1) to a win over the Lions (2-9, 1-3).

Junior Orion Andrews added 16 points and senior James Ruocchio chipped in 12 points for Manchester. Junior Kenny Monica led Lacey with 27 points and 17 rebounds, while senior Ronny Cuevas put up 18 points, six rebounds, six assists and four steals for Lacey. Senior Teagan Gilliespie also poured in 17 points in the loss.
