(3) Brick Memorial 48, (5) Middletown South 41
Senior Joe Witter scored 10 of his 20 points during a 15-0 fourth-quarter run by Brick Memorial that carried the Mustangs past the Eagles to win the second annual Shore Conference Tournament Coaches Cup championship.
Witter also pulled in 10 rebounds, while junior teammates Sean Collins and Jason Lajara each chipped in nine points in the win. Lajara also grabbed eight rebounds and handed out five assists. Junior Nyzier Matthews collected eight rebounds as well to go with his six points.
Middletown South stormed out to a 17-5 lead on Brick Memorial, but the Mustangs chipped away at the deficit and pulled even, 23-23, at halftime. Brick Memorial finally took its first lead in the midst of its 15-0 run, with Witter scoring on a drive to the basket to put the Mustangs in front, 36-35. Brick Memorial then scored nine more points without an answer from the Eagles, stretching its lead as high as 46-35.
Senior Brady Hahn led Middletown South with a game-high 25 points while also grabbing seven rebounds.
Non-Division
Manalapan 52, Toms River East 47
Senior Aiden Sosinov scored 17 points and the Braves battled past the Raiders on the road. Sophomore Greyson Ferraro added 12 points and classmate Cooper Levy chipped in 11 for Manalapan.
Freshman Brady Gillen led Toms River East with a game-high 21 points to go with seven rebounds. Junior Shamus O’Grady also pitched in seven points, eight rebounds and four assists in the loss.
Pinelands 53, Shore 45
Junior Josh Barongo scored 14 points while grabbing 10 rebounds to lead the Wildcats to a win over the Blue Devils. Senior Ty Kline added 13 points, five rebounds and five assists while sophomore Cayden Lucas chipped in 10 points for Pinelands.
Ranney 74, Southern 66
Junior Shaan Nayar topped four Ranney players in double-figure scoring with 23 points while also contributing six rebounds, six assists and two blocked shots as the Panthers outlasted the Rams.
Senior Justin Buck scored 16 points, sophomore Andrew Mardahaev poured in 13 and senior MeSean Williams pitched in 12 points, five assists and two blocks for Ranney.
Junior Jake Sliwinski scored a game-high 26 points and handed out seven assists to lead Southern. Sophomore Noah Perna added 14 points and 10 rebounds, while senior Rich Flores netted 10 points in the loss.
Non-Conference
Keyport 67, South Amboy 48
Senior Nico Dispenza scored a game-high 23 points and the Red Raiders used a 23-8 third-quarter outburst to pull away with a win over the Governors.
Senior Andrei Matthews added 17 points and junior Kai Arrington threw in 14 for Keyport.
Sayreville 63, No. 9 Colts Neck 57
Senior Lukas Sloan matched Sayreville’s Sam Jones with a game-high 19 points, but the Bombers pulled out the win over the Cougars in Colts Neck.
Junior Dillon Younger added 14 points and senior Bryce Belcher chipped in 11 to aid the Colts Neck cause.
Freehold Twp. 67, Dickinson 64
Sophomore Jake Schultzel led three Freehold Township players in double-figure scoring with 20 points and made it a double-double with 12 rebounds to lead the Patriots over the Rams.
Sophomore John O’Neill posted 18 points, eight rebounds and four assists, while senior Nick Cardone contributed 14 points, five rebounds and seven assists for Freehold Township.
