Class A North

Marlboro 56, Manalapan 51

Senior Dan Crasto led a trio of double-figure scorers with 18 points and the Mustangs (9-11, 4-6) bested the Braves (7-12, 1-8) on the road to significantly increase their chances at qualifying for the Shore Conference Tournament.

Sophomore Nolan Gong scored 15 points and senior Cole Newman chipped in 13 for Marlboro. Manalapan’s duo of senior Aiden Sosinov and junior Dean Aviles carried Manalapan with 49 of the Braves’ 51 points, with Sosinov scoring a game-high 25 and Aviles pouring in 24.

No. 3 CBA 74, Freehold Twp. 52

Seniors Kevin Pikiell and Justin Fuerbacher each scored 16 points and the Colts (16-3, 10-0) shook off a slow start on the road to race past the Patriots (8-10, 4-6) and complete a perfect Class A North divisional record for the season.

Junior Charlie Marcoullier added 11 points and junior Connor Andree threw in 10 for CBA, which outscored Freehold Township, 52-21, in the middle two quarters after falling behind, 13-4, through one quarter.

Sophomore Jake Schultzel scored six of his 12 points in the first quarter to lead Freehold Township, with both senior Jordan Dulnuan and sophomore Cole Gerigk adding nine points apiece in the loss.

Ranney 48, No. 8 Colts Neck 44

Senior MeSean Williams scored 17 points and junior Shaan Nayar went for 16 as the Panthers (10-8, 5-5) held on to beat the Cougars (10-7, 5-5) on the road.

Senior Bryce Belcher scored 11 points and junior Dillon Younger added nine for Colts Neck, which played the second half without senior and leading scorer Lukas Sloane after he exited due to injury.

 

Class A Coastal

No. 6 Rumson-Fair Haven 72, Middletown South 48

Junior Luke Cruz poured in 27 points and the Bulldogs (14-5, 7-3) bounced back from Tuesday’s loss at Rumson-Fair Haven by closing their division schedule with a win over the Eagles (8-12, 2-8) on the road.

Junior Matt Trimble led Middletown South with 14 points.

No. 5 Red Bank 76, No. 7 Holmdel 46

 

Class B North

Ocean 78, Asbury Park 58

Junior Aidan Saint Louis pumped in 24 points and the Spartans (7-14, 6-4) used big performances in the second and fourth quarters to a one-side win over the Blue Bishops (0-17, 0-9).

Freshman Brody Bell pitched in 19 points and Noah Nguyen netted 11 for Ocean, which outscored Asbury Park, 24-11, in the second quarter to open up a 15-point halftime lead.

Quamel Whitaker scored a game-high 32 points to lead Asbury Park and Ny’John Kirkpatrick chipped in 15 in the loss.

Freehold Boro 89, Shore 68

Senior Brian Tassey posted his fourth triple-double of the season and classmate Qua’Mir Everett scored a game-high 22 points to lead the Colonials (17-6, 9-0) to a win over the Blue Devils (15-5, 6-4).

Tassey finished with 12 points, 10 rebounds and 13 assists and fellow senior Aidan Hamlin-Woolfolk and junior Max Girandola each poured in 15, with Girandola burying five three-pointers.

Junior Andrew Barham scored 21 points and senior Bryce Crowe pitched in 18 to lead Shore. Junior Ryan Barham also netted 12 in the loss.

 

Class B Coastal

Henry Hudson 65, Keansburg 49

Senior Jack Fitzpatrick exploded for 35 points and the Admirals (15-6, 7-3) coasted to a win over the Titans (6-13, 0-10).

Senior Kevin Pharo added 11 points for Henry Hudson. Junior A’Son Young led Keansburg with 13 points, while Gary Friberg chipped in 11 and I’Shon Young added 10 in the loss.

Matawan 65, Keyport 61

Senior Amir Martinez led four Matawan players in double-figure scoring with 16 points and the Huskies (8-13, 4-6) outlasted the Red Raiders (15-5, 5-5).

Freshman Cayson Williams and Christian Baskerville each scored 13 points and junior Ben Morales poured in 10 for Matawan, which also got eight points from junior Colin Reitmann.

Senior Nico Dispenza scored a game-high 20 points to lead Keyport. Senior Andrei Matthews added 17 points and junior Kai Arrington threw in 14 in the loss.

Middletown North 46, Raritan 43

Junior Eddie Lopez hit three three-pointers, poured in 19 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and led the Lions (16-6, 9-1) to a road win over the Rockets (8-13, 5-5).

Senior Colin Byrne added 13 points and five assists and junior Brayden Marcotte chipped in nine points, five rebounds and five assists for Middletown North.

Senior Xavier Nunez and junior Ian Mullan each scored 10 points to lead Raritan, with Nunez also handing out four assists. Senior Alan Warren also contributed eight points and eight rebounds in the loss.

 

Non-Division

Howell 66, Pinelands 56

Sophomore Noah Musto led four Howell players in double-figure scoring with 16 points and the Rebels (10-10) topped the Wildcats (10-8) to keep their hopes of a Shore Conference Tournament bid alive.

Junior Cayden Parker added 14 points and sophomore Jay Parker threw in 12 for Howell, with senior Peter Barkauskas contributing 11 points in the win.

Senior Ty Kline scored 15 of his game-high 20 points in the first half to lead Pinelands and classmate Tyler McNally-Ferguson chipped in 14 in the loss.

Brick Memorial 58, Brick 41

Junior Jason Lajara scored 19 points to go with five steals and classmate Sean Collins posted a double-double to lead the Mustangs (9-13) over the Green Dragons (7-14) in the battle of Brick.

Collins finished with 11 points and 11 rebounds, while senior Joe Witter and junior Austin Braaten each chipped in 10 points for Brick, with Braaten also hauling in seven rebounds.

Sophomore Jamel Pitts led three Brick players in double-figure scoring with 13 points. Senior Sean Savannah added 11 points and classmate Ryan Tufaro pitched in 10 in the loss.

 

Non-Conference

St. Thomas Aquinas 72, Point Boro 55

Senior Drew Cardia scored 16 points and sophomore Hunter Hynes added 11 as the Panthers (10-10) dropped a road loss against the Trojans (12-7). Senior Hudson Griffin also contributed six points and 11 rebounds for Point Boro.

 

Metro Classic

At Franklin High School

St. Peter’s Prep 56, No. 1 St. Rose 53

Erik Porch scored 14 points and converted two key baskets in the final two minutes to help the Marauders (17-3) battle past the Purple Roses (15-6) in a clash between two of the top-ranked teams in the state.

Junior Jayden Hodge led St. Rose with 16 points and three assists and hit the game-tying free throw to make the score 47-47 with 1:49 left to play, but Porch answered with a three-point play that gave St. Peter’s Prep a 50-47 lead with 1:25 left. After a missed three-pointer on the other end, Porch hit a floater to extend the Marauder lead to 52-47.

Hodge hit a three-pointer off a baseline out-of-bounds pass from freshman Izayah Cooper with 32 seconds left to keep St. Rose alive and after Mason Santiago hit two free throws, senior Evan Romano pulled St. Rose within 54-53 on a three-pointer with 10 seconds left.

Caden Post then hit a pair of clutch free throws with nine seconds left and Hodge’s three-point heave as time expired hit off the glass, rattled around the rim and out to end the game.

Romano scored 11 points to go with five rebounds and two steals, while sophomore Avery Lynch and senior Bryan Ebeling each added eight points, with all of Lynch’s points coming in the second half.

Richie Rosa scored a game-high 18 points and handed out five assists to lead St. Peter’s, while Santiago collected 10 rebounds to go with 12 points in the win.
