No. 4 CBA 80, Ranney 66
Junior Charlie Marcoullier poured in 23 points and the Colts (13-3, 7-0) rode a well-rounded scoring effort on the way to an 80-point game and a road win over the Panthers (7-7, 3-4).
Marcoullier was one of six CBA players to scored at least eight points and one of seven with at least six. Senior Kevin Pikiell scored 15 points and sophomore David Buley kicked in 10 to give CBA three players in double-figures. Senior Justin Fuerbacher and junior Gavin Marlin (three three-pointers) each added nine points and senior Charlie Messano contributed eight, with junior Connor Andree netting six to round out the scoring for the Colts.
Junior Shaan Nayar led Ranney with a game-high 24 points, while seniors MeSean Williams and Justin Buck each added 12 in the loss. Williams also handed out six assists.
No. 8 Colts Neck 51, Marlboro 38
Senior Lukas Sloan scored 11 of his game-high 21 points in the first quarter and the Cougars (8-5, 4-2) used a fast start to race past the Mustangs (6-10, 2-5), moving into position to secure the Class A North public division title while keeping their hopes of an outright title alive.
Senior Bryce Belcher chipped in eight points and senior Dan Buoncore and junior Dillon Younger each added seven for Colts Neck, which led 19-11 after one quarter.
Seniors Cole Newman, Dan Crasto and Jeevan Saini each scored eight points to lead Marlboro, which played without sophomore starter Nolan Gong (illness), according to Mustangs coach James Reuter.
Freehold Twp. 57, Manalapan 52
Sophomore Jake Schultzel led the way with 20 points and classmate John O’Neill posted a double-double as the Patriots (7-7, 3-4) held on to top the Braves (6-8, 1-5) and complete a season-sweep of the Class A North rivalry series.
O’Neill finished with 12 points and 14 rebounds, with senior Nick Cardone also pitching in 12 points and six rebounds for Freehold Township. Senior Aiden Sosinov scored a game-high 26 points to lead Manalapan and junior teammate Dean Aviles added 10.
Class A Coastal
No. 9 Red Bank Catholic 73, Middletown South 58
Senior Sean Saxton led four players in double-figure scoring with 16 points and the Caseys (10-7, 4-3) rolled past the Eagles (7-9, 1-6).
Senior Ryan Prior chipped in 13 points, while junior James Hankowski and sophomore Gavin Biasi each added 11 for Red Bank Catholic. Senior Brady Hahn matched Saxton’s game-high 16 points to lead Middletown South, while junior Matt Trimble poured in 15 and classmate Luca Donofrio fired in 12 in the loss.
No. 6 Rumson-Fair Haven 58, No. 7 Holmdel 49
Junior Luke Cruz scored 24 points while grabbing seven rebounds and blocking four shots and the Bulldogs (12-3, 5-2) rode a dominant third quarter to a win over the Hornets (9-6, 4-3) to complete the season-sweep of their ranked division rivals.
Cruz scored nine of his points in the first quarter and struck for nine more in the third, during which Rumson outscored Holmdel, 25-10, to turn a tie game at halftime into a 49-34 Bulldogs lead heading to the fourth. Cruz also scored seven points during Rumson’s 13-2 run to open the game — a deficit Holmdel erased by halftime.
Senior David Carr contributed 17 points, seven rebounds and four assists for Rumson and senior Carson Memmott added 10 points off the bench for Rumson.
Senior Joe Curreiri scored 10 points to lead Holmdel, while junior Connor Paul pitched in nine points, six rebounds, three assists and three steals in the loss. Junior Jack Vallillo also contributed eight points for the Hornets, who battled back from the early 11-point deficit to take a 21-20 lead late in the second quarter and reach halftime tied at 24.
No. 5 Red Bank 61, St. John Vianney 43
Senior Zayier Dean poured in a game-high 22 points and the Bucs (15-2, 7-0) bounced back from their second loss of the season by topping the Lancers (6-12, 0-7).
Seniors Anthony Moore and Ronald Richardson combined for seven of Red Bank’s nine three-pointers, with Moore hitting three on the way to 18 points and Richardson burying four to account for all 12 of his points. Red Bank won despite playing without injured senior starter Ryan Fisher, who left Saturday’s loss to CBA with a head injury after colliding with a teammate.
Sophomore Justin Togans scored 12 points and classmate Dan Lavan chipped in nine to lead St. John Vianney.
Class A Central
No. 1 St. Rose 94, Howell 50
Sophomore Avery Lynch scored 23 points and junior Jayden Hodge poured in 22 to spark the Purple Roses (12-5, 8-0) to a road win over the Rebels (8-8, 1-6), clinching them no worse than a share of the Class A Central championship.
Hodge also grabbed 11 rebounds and dished out four assists, which Lynch grabbed six rebounds. Senior Evan Romano chipped in 11 points, three assists and three steals while freshman Oymere Rene also netted eight points for St. Rose, which is a division champion for a third straight season and can clinch its second straight outright title by defeating Jackson Memorial on Thursday in Jackson.
Junior Cayden Parker scored 13 points to lead Howell.
Jackson Memorial 74, Brick Memorial 50
Juniors George Boley and Jimmy Pappalardo each scored 25 points and the Jaguars (7-10, 4-3) rolled to a win over the Mustangs (7-11, 1-6) despite playing without another junior starter, Randy Holmes, for a second straight game due to an ankle injury.
Junior Sean Collins and senior Joe Witter each scored 13 points to lead Brick Memorial.
Class A South
No. 3 Central 66, Manchester 46
Senior Jaycen Santucci went off for a career-high 36 points while also contributing six rebounds, three assists and three steals to carry the Golden Eagles (16-1, 7-0) to a win over the Hawks (2-14, 1-6) for their 12th straight win.
Seniors Jayson King and Royalty Riley each added 10 points, with King dishing out three assists and Riley grabbing seven rebounds for Central. Senior M.J. Goins scored 21 points to lead Manchester and classmate Aidan Lunn contributed 11 points and six rebounds in the loss.
No. 10 Southern 58, Donovan Catholic 53
Junior Jake Sliwinski put up 20 points and three assists and sophomore Noah Perna went for 15 points, 13 rebounds and seven assists as the Rams battled past the Griffins to stay in the hunt for the Class A South title while salvaging a season split with Donovan Catholic.
Senior Cooper Dempsey knocked down three three-pointers to finish with nine points for Southern and also handed out three assists. Senior James Gibbons scored 13 points and classmate Ryan Jacobs netted 11 to lead Donovan Catholic.
Class B North
Long Branch 53, Asbury Park 28
Josh Da’Cruz and Cameron DeJesus each recorded a double-double and the Green Wave (5-10, 4-3) shut down the Blue Bishops (0-13, 0-6) on the road.
Da’Cruz scored a game-high 17 points to go with 12 rebounds while DeJesus hauled in 18 rebounds to go with his 12 points. Havier Gonzalez also chipped in 10 points for Long Branch.
Ny’John Kirkpatrick scored 11 points to lead Asbury Park.
Ocean 50, Shore 45
Freehold Boro 75, Monmouth 55
Senior Aidan Hamlin-Woolfolk scored a team-high 21 points while grabbing seven rebounds and classmate Brian Tassey contributed 14 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists to lead the Colonials (12-6, 6-0) over the Falcons (2-13, 2-5).
Senior Qua’Mir Everett pitched in 12 points and junior Max Girandola scored 10 for Freehold Boro, which found itself in a 26-26 tie with Monmouth at halftime before breaking free of the Falcons in the second half.
Junior Michael Griffin paced Monmouth with a game-high 22 points behind six three-pointers, while sophomore teammate Javon Bowles added 17 points in the loss.
Class B Coastal
Henry Hudson 53, Matawan 37
Junior Michael Fitzpatrick led a balanced scoring effort with 14 points and the Admirals (12-5, 5-2) rebounded from Monday’s road loss at Middletown North by handling the Huskies (5-12, 2-5).
Senior Jack Fitzpatrick poured in 12 points, senior Kevin Pharo chipped in 10 and sophomore JoJo Newell netted eight for Henry Hudson. Junior Colin Reitmann scored 11 points to lead Matawan.
Middletown North 56, Keyport 53
Senior Colin Byrne posted 19 points, seven rebounds and three assists and junior Eddie Lopez contributed a double-double to lead the Lions (13-6, 6-1) to a hard-fought win over the Red Raiders (10-5, 3-4).
Byrne hit a pair of go-ahead shots within 25 seconds of one another late in the fourth quarter, including a three-pointer that put Middletown North up for good at 53-51 with 1:57 left. Lopez finished with 17 points, 10 rebounds and two blocked shots while sophomore Nate Tyburczy also pitched in 12 points and four assists for Middletown North.
Raritan 61, Keansburg 39
Senior Xavier Nunez scored 15 points to go with three steals and freshman Mario Diamantis threw in 14 to lead the Rockets (8-9, 5-2) to a win over the Titans (5-10, 0-7).
Sophomore Eric Berg added 10 points and six rebounds while senior Alan Warren contributed nine points and seven rebounds for Raritan. Senior Gary Friberg led Keansburg with 10 points.
Non-Division
Lacey 65, Toms River South 61
Senior Jon Stabile scored 16 points and hauled in 11 rebounds to lead a balanced effort in a Lions (5-10) win over the Indians (2-14). Seniors Frank Smith and Anthony Mazza each added 14 points and senior D.J. Duffy pitched in eight points, eight rebounds and six assists for Lacey.
Junior Shane Gambarony led four Toms River South players in double-figure scoring with 17 points. Senior Mark Avendano pumped in 15, junior Jacob Myers threw in 14 and junior Kyle Mundy pitched in 10 in the loss.
