Group Stage

Group A

Ranney 5, St. Rose 2

Senior Sichen Chen scored two goals and the Panthers (8-2-1) clinched a spot in the Shore Conference Tournament while also extending their unbeaten steak to eight games by topping the Purple Roses (1-10).

Senior Saaed Torres and juniors Jake Zemlinsky and Eddie Magherini each added a goal for Ranney.

 

Group C

No. 5 Howell 3, Brick 1

Senior Tye Maser scored a goal in his return to action and the Rebels (7-1) held off the Green Dragons (2-6-1) to move closer to clinching a bye through the first round of the Shore Conference Tournament. Maser missed Howell’s last four games with a hamstring strain, which included the Rebels lone loss — a 2-1 defeat at Manasquan.

Seniors Kam Brown and Tyler Borenstein also scored a goal apiece for Howell.

 

Group H

Rumson-Fair Haven 2, Lakewood 0

Seniors Peyton Werner and Charlie Butters each scored a goal and the Bulldogs (5-4) blanked the Piners (4-5) to get back in line to advance out of the SCT group stage.

 

Regular Season

Class A North

No. 2 CBA 7, Holmdel 0

Senior Caden Darby hit a penalty kick in the sixth minute and junior James Brady followed with a goal two minutes later to start the rout as the Colts (8-3, 3-1) hammered the Hornets (5-4-1, 3-2-0) for their fifth straight win.

Junior Ryan Asadi scored the all-important third goal in the 22nd minute and senior Abraham Hernandez made it 4-0 after a steal and finish near the Holmdel goal in the 31st minute.

Senior Brandon Ortiz knocked in a scramble from inside the box in the 48th minute, senior Charlie Messano headed in a corner kick by Brady in the 52nd minute, and Will Drechsler capped the scoring off a pass from senior Brandon McDonough to cap the scoring in the 77th.

Marlboro 3, Long Branch 2 (OT)

Sophomore Giorgi Datunaishvili scored his second game-winning goal in as many games since returning from a knee injury and the Mustangs (7-3, 2-2) pulled out an overtime win over the Green Wave (1-7, 0-4).

Datunaishvili finished off a pass from senior Trevor Barrett, who also missed three games due to injury before returning last game — a 2-1 win over Burlington Township on Friday.

Senior Jake Langella and classmate Luciano Garcia each scored a goal in the first half to get Marlboro started.

 

Class A South

No. 6 Toms River North 1, Southern 0

Senior Cristian Caso scored the game-winning goal in the 73rd minute and the Mariners (6-3-1, 4-0-0) clinched no worse than a share of the Class A North championship with a hard-fought road win over the Rams (5-3-1, 1-2-1).

Senior Christian Assante crossed the ball into the middle of the field just inside the top of the 18-yard box, where Caso touched it, flicked it to himself once more with his foot, spun around and ripped a volley out of the air for a sparkling finish that proved to be the difference.

 

Class B Central

Red Bank 4, Keyport 0

Junior Alex Salvo scored the first goal of the game and assisted the first of two second-half goals by senior Trey Cummings to help the Bucs (6-5, 4-0) roll through the Red Raiders (1-7, 1-3) to move within one win of the Class B Central division championship.

Junior Leandro Tlalpachito scored off a pass from senior Jason Monge to extend Red Bank’s lead to 2-0 by halftime before Cummings put the game away with his second-half brace.

 

Non-Division

Point Beach 4, Asbury Park 2

Sophomore Brody Powers scored two goals in the first half and assisted the first of two goals in the second by classmate Landon Hoberman as the Garnet Gulls (8-0) pulled out the win over the Blue Bishops (2-10) to remain unbeaten.

Hoberman’s first goal proved to be the game-winner and he added a second off a pass from senior Cody Monticello.

No. 1 Colts Neck 6, Donovan Catholic 0

Sophomore Sean Moore and junior Gabe Kruglyansky each scored two goals and senior Sam Gershon chipped in a goal and an assist to lead the Cougars (9-0-1) to a shutout win over the Griffins (0-8).

Senior Kyle Moore also assisted two goals and Dan Killick capped the scoring off a pass from fellow senior Nick Sergio.

Non-Conference

Shore 1, Haddon Heights 0

Sophomore Silvio Pessoa scored the game-winning goal in the 58th minute off a pass from senior Mike Hess and senior goalkeeper Thomas Wenner and the defense made it stand up for the Blue Devils in a Senior Night win over the Garnets.
