Manchester is the Week 2 Jersey Mike’s Shore Conference Football Team of the Week

The Jersey Mike’s Shore Conference Football Team of the Week for Week 2 is Manchester, which rallied to a 30-26 win over Pinelands with a 65-yard scoring drive in the final 41 seconds to author a thrilling early-season victory. Shore Sports Insider stopped by practice on Tuesday to present the Hawks and head coach Tommy Farrell with a special game ball and a $500 Jersey Mike’s gift card for a team meal.
Pinelands had taken a 26-23 lead with 42 seconds left in the game and looked to be on the way to its first victory of the season. Instead, senior quarterback Aidan Lunn orchestrated the game-winning drive and put Manchester ahead on an 8-yard touchdown run with eight seconds on the clock.

Lunn finished sixth in the Shore with 1,397 yards passing and fifth with 16 passing touchdowns last season. He missed Manchester’s 26-0 loss to Southern in Week 1 with an injury but returned with a vengeance to complete 13 of 17 passes for a career-high 290 yards and two touchdowns, plus his go-ahead rushing touchdown. Senior wide receiver Marquis Goins Jr. also had a memorable game with a career-high seven receptions for 140 yards, a receiving touchdown and a rushing touchdown. Senior wideout Dom Rekus caught three passes for a career-high 83 yards and a touchdown and senior Ian Spicer connected on a 35-yard field goal.
Senior linebacker Dante Mortellite recorded a career-high 18 tackles, including 16 solo stops and a sack, while senior defensive lineman Mason Davis had two tackles for loss to help lead the defensive effort.
With a big division win under their belt, the Hawks (2-1, 1-0) will look to pick up another Class C South victory when they host Jackson Liberty (1-2, 0-1) on Friday night.
