Shore Conference Girls Soccer Top 10
The Shore Sports Insider Girls Soccer Top 10 was turned upside down and twisted all around after last week. Former No. 1 Freehold Township lost two games last week to start the season 0-4 and exits the rankings for the first time in a long time. After defeating the Patriots, Middletown South fell to rival Howell to disrupt the rankings even more. Four new teams enter the rankings this week.

1. Wall (3-0). Last week: No. 2
Wall won two games last week and moved into the top spot with Freehold Township losing two games in the week. The Knights had a tough battle against Jackson Memorial but sophomore Megan Farrell led them to a 2-1 victory with a goal and an assist. Wall plays two Shore Conference Tournament Group H games this week on the road. They travel to Manchester on Monday and Raritan on Friday. On Wednesday, the Knights host St. John Vianney in a battle of two undefeated teams in Class A Central.
2. Red Bank Catholic (3-1). Last week No. 3
The Caseys moved up one spot in the rankings after defeating Rumson-Fair Haven and Manalapan, both of which were ranked last week. Junior Paige Foye continues her great start to the season, scoring three goals last week to bring her total to seven on the season. RBC travels to Donovan Catholic on Monday and hosts Marlboro on Saturday in SCT Group A play. On Wednesday, the Caseys clash with Freehold Township on the road.
3. Howell (3-0). Last Week: No. 7
Howell gained an early edge in Class A North after defeating No. 4 Middletown South, 1-0. The Rebels followed that with a 3-0 SCT Group E victory over Red Bank. Junior transfer Leila Shaw has posted three shutouts in her first three games for Howell. The Rebels travels to Freehold Boro on Monday to play their second SCT Group game and then head to district rival Manalapan on Wednesday and St. John Vianney on Saturday.
4. Middletown South (3-1) Last Week: No. 4
Middletown South began the week by defeating then-No. 1 Freehold Township, 1-0. Senior Amanda MacGregor scored in the final minutes after Maria DeGregorio sent a free kick into the box and Bea Tinoco passed it to Macgregor. The Eagles fell to then-No. 7 Howell, 1-0. Middletown South plays two games on the road this week, traveling to Jackson Liberty in SCT Group I action and North Hunterdon on Saturday in a non-conference game.
5. Lacey (5-0). Last Week: No. 9
Lacey became the first team to reach five wins when it completed a 3-0 week. The Lions opened the week with two nondivisional victories over ranked Manalapan and Southern sides. Lacey concluded its week with a 3-2 Class B South overtime victory over Point Beach. Seniors Natalie McGovern and Reece Paget have started the season strong on the offensive side of the field. McGovern leads the team with seven goals and Paget is right behind her with five. Lacey travels to Red Bank Regional on Monday in SCT Group E. On Wednesday the Lions host Donovan Catholic in a Class B South match-up and on Friday they travel to Brick Memorial in a non-divisional game.
6. Point Boro (3-0). Last Week: not ranked
The Panthers started their first season in Class A South with two wins last week. They defeated Brick Memorial, 2-1 in overtime, and then-No. 6 Central, 1-0. Senior Abby Hannemann has started the season with five assists, including the assist in the game-winner by Maddie Renna against Central. On Monday, Point Boro travels to Holmdel and on Saturday they host Point Beach in SCT Group G play. They host Toms River North on Wednesday in a division game.
7. Manasquan (1-1-1). Last Week: not ranked
Manasquan has started the season playing three ranked teams, including the top two teams to start the season. Last week the Warriors upset former No. 1 Freehold Township, 2-1 in double overtime. Sophomore Samantha Price scored the game-winner on a free kick and assisted on the first goal of the game. Earlier in the week, Manasquan tied Central, 1-1. The Warriors travels to St. Rose on Monday and hosts Ocean Township on Saturday in SCT Group F games. On Wednesday, the Warriors travel to play undefeated Trinity Hall in a Class A North matchup.
8. Toms River East (4-0). Previous Rank: No. 10
The Raiders continue to roll after upsetting Manalapan in their home opener. Last week, Toms River East won three games, including a Class B South win over Manchester and an SCT Group B victory over Ranney. Freshman goalie Emma Mastriano has not allowed a goal this season in her first four games. The Raiders have two more SCT group games this week, home against Colts Neck on Monday and at Jackson Memorial on Saturday. On Wednesday, East hosts Shore Conference newcomer New Egypt in a divisional game.
9. Toms River South (3-0) Last Week: not ranked
Toms River South enters the Top 10 this week after defeating Colts Neck ,2-1, and division rival Brick Memorial, 4-1. Freshman Daniella Gordon has enjoyed a good start to her career, scoring three goals in her first two games. The Indians travel to Middletown North on Monday to start their SCT Group I play and host division rival Central on Wednesday.
10. St. John Vianney (3-0). Last Week: not ranked
St. John Vianney opened the week with a 3-2 victory over Middletown North in a rematch of last year’s Shore Conference Coaches Cup final. The Lancers finished the week by defeating Colts Neck in a Class A Central game. Seniors Madison Pieloch and Madeline Marretta both scored two goals last week for SJV. The Lancers travel to Shore on Monday to play their first SCT Group D game. They end the week playing two teams ranked in the top five. Wednesday they travel to play No. 1 Wall in a battle of unbeatens in Class A Central. On Saturday, the Lancers host No. 3 Howell in a nondivisional game.
