Shore Conference Girls Soccer Week 2 Games of the Week

Last week, we saw how competitive the Shore Conference girls soccer season will be this year. The Top 10 was scrambled up with upsets and shocking results and that has continued into the second full week of the season. Below are the match-ups of the week based on rankings, division games and rivalries.

Wednesday, Sept. 18

Central Regional at No. 9 Toms River South, 3:30

A battle of the two Class A South champions the past two years, both sides will look to move up in the division standings with a win on Wednesday. Central currently sits one game down in the loss column while Toms River South is undefeated.

No. 10 St. John Vianney at No. 1 Wall, 4 p.m.

A battle for the top spot in Class A Central. Both teams are undefeated and have one win inside their division. Since 2020, these teams are 2-2 with the Lancers winning the last two contests. This will be the first time this season that these teams will face a ranked opponent.

No. 2 Red Bank Catholic at Freehold Township, 3:45 p.m.

The young Caseys travel to face a hungry Freehold Township team that has started the season 0-4 entering the third week of the season. The Patriots won last year’s game, 2-0, but both these teams have gone through a roster overhaul.

Saturday, Sept. 21

Manalapan at Rumson-Fair Haven, 10 a.m.

Both teams are outside the Top 10 looking in right now, but a win by either of these teams will get them back into the rankings. Manalapan has beaten Rumson two times over the last two years, but this is a new-look Braves team.

No. 3 Howell at No. 10 St. John Vianney, 10 a.m.

A battle of Top 10 teams that met last year in a divisional game met this season in a non-divisional match-up. Both teams have a mixture of seniors and underclassmen, similar to last season. A win for Howell would put a stamp on them being one of the favorites for the SCT and a win for SJV would help them move up the rankings.
