Shore Conference Girls Soccer Week 4 Games of the Week
Just over halfway through the season and we have seen our fair share of thrillers, upsets and battles on the pitch. After this week the Shore Conference will have a better idea of what the SCT bracket will look like and some of the division winners should be decided. The games of the week this week are determined by division standings, SCT Group standings, and match-ups.
Shore Conference Girls Soccer Week 4 Games of the Week
Tuesday 10/1
Manalapan at No. 6 Point Boro, 3:45 p.m.
Undefeated Point Boro faces off against one of the strongest offenses that they have seen all season. The Panthers have only conceded two goals and those were in the first two games of the season. They are currently on a five-game shutout streak. Manalapan has had an up-and-down season as they rebuild from last year’s graduating class. If the Braves can play more consistently on the defensive end they will be a team to avoid in the Shore Conference Tournament.
Wednesday 10/2
No. 2 Howell at Trinity Hall, 3:45 p.m.
Trinity Hall has a chance to shake up the Class A North standings if they can defeat Howell, who currently sits in first place. The top six spots are separated by one game with every team beating up on each other. Howell is the only team with three wins out of four games and a win will move them one step closer to a division title.
Toms River East at No. 8 Lacey, 3:45 p.m.
This is the game that will have a major impact on Class B South. Both teams are sitting at 3-0 in the division with Lacey already defeating Point Beach who sits in third place at 2-1. A win for the Lions will wrap up the division, but a win by the Raiders will give them the edge and they will control their own fate going into the Point Beach game.
Thursday 10/3
No. 4 Red Bank Catholic at No. 9 Manasquan, 3:45 p.m.
Like every match-up in Class A North, this one should come down to the wire with each team trying to limit the mistakes that the other team can capitalize on. Both teams have well-organized defenses and do not give up any easy goals. The young Caseys are getting better as every game goes on and a win will keep them in the hunt for a division title. Manasquan has two division wins but needs to win against RBC and Howell to have a chance at the division title.
Saturday 10/5
No. 6 Point Boro at Trinity Hall
Trinity Hall has been floating on the bubble for the first half of the season, but have a chance to get into the Top 10 with wins against Howell and Point Boro, who are both ranked. A win for the Monarchs will turn SCT Group G into a three way fight between Point Boro, Trinity Hall and Point Beach, who lost to Point Boro but defeated Trinity Hall.
No. 5 Wall at No. 3 Freehold Township, 2 p.m.
When last season ended, this game could have been talked about as a possible Shore Conference Tournament final match-up. Freehold Township started off losing its first four games, but currently has a five-game win streak. Wall has had one major slip-up this season against Manchester, but has rebounded and is in control of Class A Central. The Patriots will be the Knights’ toughest opponent so far this season. A win by Freehold Township will clinch SCT Group H and leave Wall in third place.
