Shore Conference Girls Soccer Week Eight Top 10 Rankings

Shore Sports Insider Girls Soccer Week Eight Top 10 Rankings

1. Manalapan (16-0) Last Week: 1 – Manalapan put an explanation point on their No. 1 ranking with a 3-1 victory in the Shore Conference Tournament over Trinity Hall. It was Manalapan’s first SCT title since 1988. Senior Olivia Ziobro, who missed last year with an ACL injury, scored two first-half goals to lead the Braves. Manalapan was tested in the semifinal round against Rumson-Fair Haven who took a 1-0 lead into halftime. It was the first time all season the Braves trailed in a game. Senior Daniella Butash had an assist on the equalizer and scored the game-winner late in the second-half to keep the undefeated season alive. Manalapan has been ranked in the top spot since the preseason for a reason. The Braves have no weaknesses on the field and all play for a common goal. Manalapan will switch their focus to the Central Jersey Group 4 sectional where they surprised many when they made it to the finals last year and lost in a shootout. Manalapan secured the No. 1 seed in CJG4, which begins on 11/5/25.

2. Trinity Hall (16-3-2) Last Week: 8 – Trinity Hall made school history making the SCT final for the first time in history. Prior to this year the Monarchs never reached the quarterfinal round. They were ranked as high as six this season, but an early loss to Middletown North dropped them in the rankings. A deep SCT run has the young Monarchs moving back up the rankings. The path to the final was difficult going through the No. 7, No. 2 and No. 3 seeds. Trinity Hall did not allow a single goal in the first four rounds, relying on their young defense that has three freshmen starting. Trinity Hall had several heroes on the offensive side of the field in all three rounds. In the first round Ryan Raynor and Kailyn Fitzgerald scored in a 2-0 victory over Red Bank Regional. Fitzgerald was the hero in the second-round against No. 7 Wall, scoring the game winner with 2:30 left in regulation for a 1-0 victory. In the quarterfinal round, Trinity Hall battled No. 2 Central to a scoreless tie for 100 minutes. The Monarchs buried the first three penalty-kicks to advance into the semifinal round. Senior Caroline Ferguson scored 10 minutes into the semifinal game against No. 3 Howell to give Trinity Hall a 1-0 lead which held the next 70 minutes. Trinity Hall will now prepare for a deep South Jersey Non-Public A run. Last year the Monarchs made it to the semifinal round in a very tough section.  Trinity Hall will be the No. 2 seed and have a bye in the first-round.

3. Central (14-1-1) Last Week: 3 – Central has been one of the most consistent teams in the Shore Conference behind Manalapan. After a first-round bye, the Golden Eagles defeated Marlboro in the second round 4-0. Sophomore Addison Frulio earned her 11th shutout in that game. Unfortunately Central’s run in the SCT ended in the quarterfinal-round on penalty-kicks. After going scoreless for 100 minutes against Trinity Hall, Central lost in PKs 3-0. Central will now work on returning to the South Jersey Group 4 final, where they lost last season in PKs to Eastern. Central locked up the No. 1 seed for the second straight season and will have home field advantage throughout the tournament.

4. Rumson-Fair Haven (12-7) Last Week: 9 – Rumson’s magical run in the SCT ended in the semifinal round against No. 1 Manalapan. The Bulldogs did not make it easy, taking a 1-0 lead into the late parts of the second-half. The eventual Shore Conference champion found a way to win, but Rumson proved they are one of the top teams in the conference and it was not just a great run. Duke commit Jordyn Sullivan scored four goals and added two assists in the SCT, including both goals in a 2-0 win against Point Boro in the quarterfinal round and the assist in the semifinal game. Rumson will be the No. 3 seed in one of the toughest sections in the state, Central Jersey Group 3. They are currently projected to play Monmouth Regional in the first-round.

5. Howell (12-4) Last Week: 2 – Howell achieved something you do not see too often for public schools in any sport. They reached their 4th straight SCT semifinal after defeating the N0. 6 seed Toms River South 3-2. After receiving a bye in the first-round, the Rebels scored three second-half goals to defeat Lacey in the second-round. Junior Makenzie Memmolo scored two goals to reach 100 points in her career. Sophomore Isabella Farinick scored two goals against TRS to give her 12 on the season. Howell fought hard in the semifinal round against Trinity Hall, but could not find the equalizer. Howell will be the No. 2 seed in the very challenging Central Jersey Group 4.

6. Point Boro (12-2) Last Week: 4 – Point Boro’s hopes to reach their second straight SCT final were ruined by Rumson in the quarterfinal round. The Panthers regrouped and defeated No. 8 Toms River South for the second time this season. Point Boro will now focus on defending their Group 2 title, but will have to do so without captain and leading scorer Elise Viggiano. Viggiano had a bad injury to her nose in the quarterfinal round against Rumson. If her season is over, she ends her career with 31 goals, 12 assists and most importantly a Group 2 state title. After a very strong graduating class last year, the Panthers were in a rebuild and have a very young team this season that currently only has two losses. Point Boro will be the No. 2 seed when CJG2 starts on 11/5/25.

7. Red Bank Catholic (12-3) Last Week: 5 – The Caseys failed to reach the quarterfinal round for the 4th straight year after being upset by the No. 13 seed Rumson in double overtime. RBC rebounded in a consolation round, defeating Lacey 3-1. RBC has one of the deepest teams in the Shore Conference and has a combination of experience and youth to make a run in South Jersey Non-Public A. Last year RBC lost in the semifinal round to the eventual champion Paul VI. RBC will be the No. 4 seed and will play their first-round game on 11/3/25.

8. Toms River South (10-3-2) Last Week: 6 – Toms River South’s chances to reach the SCT semifinal-round came up just short in a 3-2 loss to No. 3 Howell. The Indians tried to mount a comeback trailing 3-1, but fell short. Sophomore Daniella Gordon continues to show the Shore Conference how dangerous she is on the offensive side of the ball, scoring her 12th and 13th goals in that game. TRS will be the No. 5 seed in South Jersey Group 3 and is currently matched up against the team who ended their season last year, Ocean City.

9. Manasquan (9-7) Last Week: Not Ranked –   Manasquan cracks the top ten for the first time this season after winning two straight games in the consolation rounds of the SCT. The Warriors were eliminated by No. 1 Manalapan in the second-round 2-1. It was the second time this season Manasquan battled Manalapan to a one-goal loss. Out of the Warriors seven losses, five have come by one goal. Sophomore Madeline Pretrulla has emerged as an All-Shore candidate in her first season in goal for the Warriors. Manasquan is the No. 8 seed in Central Jersey Group 2. They are projected to host Raritan in the opening round.

10. Middletown South (8-7) Last Week: 7 – Middletown South seemed to get back on track with two convincing victories in the first two rounds of the SCT. The Eagles defeated Colts Neck 6-2 in the first-round and St. John Vianney 5-2 in the second-round. Rutgers commit Bea Tinoco scored a hat-trick against Colts Neck to raise her scoring-record at Middletown South to 77 career goals. Middletown South has been battling injuries the last few weeks and hope to be healthy as they get ready for North Jersey Section 2, Group 3. They are projected to be the No. 3 seed and will host Matawan in the opening round.
