Shore Sports Insider Girls Soccer Week Five Top 10 Rankings
1. Manalapan (9-0) Last Week: 1 – Manalapan is the last remaining team that is unbeaten with no ties in the Shore Conference. The Braves made it look easy last week with two wins in SCT Group 2 to clinch the top spot. Manalapan will be tested this week with a Class A North game at home against its rival, No. 9 Freehold Township. They will then travel to No. 2 Howell on Friday in what could be a potential battle of two undefeated teams within Class A North. The Braves travel to Jackson on Tuesday to play their last SCT group game and then to New Egypt on Thursday in a nondivisional game.

2. Howell (9-1) Last Week: 2 – Howell is entering the final week of the regular season with only one loss which came in a nonconference game against Bridgewater-Raritan, a team that started the season ranked in the NJ.com Top 20. The Rebels started the week defeating No. 9 Freehold Township 5-1 and ended the week beating Manasquan 2-0 to improve to 5-0 in Class A North. Howell clinched a spot in the SCT with a 7-0 win over Long Branch. Makenzie Memmolo and Isabella Farinick both reached double-digits in goals scored last week. Howell has a difficult week ahead of them with a SCT Group 7 game on the road at No. 8 Trinity Hall. The Rebels end the week at home against No. 1 Manalapan in a game that will determine Class A North.
3. Red Bank Catholic (9-2) Last Week: 3 – The Caseys only losses this season have come against the current top two ranked teams in the Shore. RBC defeated No. 4 Middletown South last week 2-1 and followed that up with a SCT Group 1 win over Brick Township. The win clinched a spot in the SCT. Junior Heidi Wierman has posted six shutouts on the season for RBC. RBC travels to Lacey to play their final SCT Group 1 game on Tuesday and then host division foe Manasquan on Thursday at home. The winner of the Lacey game will finish in first place in SCT Group 1.

4.Central (9-0-1) Last Week: 5 – Central is one of two teams to not have a loss this season, winning three more games last week. Central started the week defeating No. 6 Point Boro 2-0 to win Class A South. Central followed that with a SCT Group 5 win over Neptune. The Golden Eagles ended the week defeating Wall 3-1 in a non-divisional game. Senior Brianna Nelson scored her 8th goal of the season to lead Central against Wall. The Golden Eagles will travel to Manasquan on Tuesday to decide who will clinch first place in the group. Central will host Toms River North on Thursday and travel to No. 10 Toms River East on Saturday in two nondivisional games.

5. Point Boro (8-1) Last Week: 6 – Point Boro was handed their first defeat of the season against No. 4 Central which ruined their chances of winning back-to-back Class A South division titles. The Panthers rebounded with a 3-1 win over Matawan to earn three points in SCT Group 8. Point Boro will travel to Rumson on Tuesday to determine the winner of Group 8. Point Boro ends the week traveling to crosstown rival Point Beach on Thursday in a nondivisional game.

6. Middletown South (5-4) Last Week: 4 – After winning their first four games, the injury bug has caught up to Middletown South and they have dropped four out of their last five games. The Eagles fell to division rivals No. 3 Red Bank Catholic 2-1 and Wall 2-0 last week. Middletown South will look to get their field players back for the SCT, but goalkeeper Julianna Fiore will be out for a couple more weeks. Middletown South is no stranger to playing with players on the mend with Rutgers commit Bea Tinoco missing several games last year when the SCT was starting. The Eagles travel to No. 7 Toms River South in a game that will determine first place in SCT Group 4. Middletown South ends the week on the road against crosstown rival Middletown North on Saturday.
7. Toms River South (6-1-2) Last Week: 7 – Toms River South has shutout three straight opponents since falling to No. 6 Point Boro on 9/25. The Indians ended the week defeating Holmdel 1-0 in their first SCT Group 4 game. Sophomore Reese Lindemann earned her 5th shutout against Holmdel. Toms River South will host No. 5 Middletown South on Tuesday and travels to Colts Neck on Friday to finish group play. Currently Middletown South sits at 2-0 and Colts Neck and Holmdel do not have a win. The Indians will travel crosstown to play No. 10 Toms River East on Thursday in a nondivisional game.

8. Trinity Hall (11-1-1) Last Week: 8 – Trinity Hall continued their streak of shutouts, making it 10 straight. The Monarchs’ defeat to Middletown North is the only game in which an opponent has scored on them. Trinity Hall beat division rival Rumson-Fair Haven 1-0 to win their biggest game of the season and clinch at least a share of first place in Class A North. Senior Emily Venezia earned her ninth shutout of the season and Maris Child scored her first goal of the season for the game winner. Trinity Hall hosts No. 2 Howell in their final SCT Group 7 game of the season. Even if the Monarchs lose, they clinched a spot in the SCT with goal differential over the other teams. If they defeat Howell, Trinity Hall will finish in first place with the head-to-head tiebreaker. Trinity Hall will travel to St. John Vianney on Thursday in a division game. If SJV beats Trinity Hall, there will be a three-way tie for first place with SJV, Trinity Hall and Rumson.
9. Freehold Township (4-4-2) Last Week: 9 – After going 3-0-1 in their last four games, Freehold Township fell to division rival No. 2 Howell 5-1 in their only game last week. The Patriots’ defense only allowed one goal in that run and the goalie combination of Violet Matthews and Saoirse Downey have combined for four shutouts this season. Freehold Township can play spoiler on Monday as they travel to No. 1 Manalapan in a Class A North game. The Patriots finish the week traveling to Wall in a division game on Thursday and then travel to St. John Vianney on Saturday in their final SCT Group 3 game. The winner of that game will finish in first place in the group.
10. Toms River East (8-2) Last Week: 10 – The Raiders two losses this season have both come against teams ranked inside the top five all season. Toms River East fell to RBC last Saturday and lost to No. 1 Manalapan this past Saturday in a SCT Group 2 game. The Raiders won their 8th game of the season on Friday against Lacey in a 1-0 victory. Goalkeepers Emma Mastriano and Maddie Moore have combined for six shutouts on the season. The Raiders host Ranney on Tuesday to finish their SCT group play. They end the week against two ranked teams, hosting No. 7 Toms River South on Thursday and No. 4 Central on Saturday.
