Shore Sports Insider Girls Soccer Week Six Top 10 Rankings
1. Manalapan (12-0) Last Week: 1 – The Braves will enter the Shore Conference Tournament as the top seed after defeating No. 2 Howell 4-0 and winning Class A North. The Braves averaged just under four goals a game playing in one of the hardest divisions in the state. Senior Daniella Butash leads the team with 14 goals and senior Olivia Ziobro has 9 goals and 6 assists. In two of their last three games, Ziobro has 5 goals and an assist for the Braves. Manalapan will play the winner of the (17)Jackson/(16)Manasquan game in the second round of the Shore Conference Tournament. Manasquan is one of two teams to hold the Braves to one goal this season and Jackson lost 2-0 to the Braves.

2. Howell (10-3) Last Week: 2 – Howell ended the regular season with two losses, first to No. 1 Manalapan in a game that decided Class A North followed by a nonconference loss to state-power Shawnee. Howell had six victories against teams ranked in the Shore Sports Insider Top 10 this season. The combination of Makenzie Memmolo and Isabella Farinick have caused problems for opposing defenses all season. Memmolo, who has 10 assists on the season, became the all-time leader this week with 25 in her career. Howell fell to the No. 3 seed of the SCT and will face the winner of (19) Toms River North and (14) Lacey in the second round. The Rebels did not play either of those teams this season.

3. Red Bank Catholic (11-2) Last Week: 3 – Red Bank Catholic enters the Shore Conference Tournament on a five game winning streak. The Caseys only two losses this season came to No. 1 Manalapan and No. 2 Howell. RBC has one of the best defenses and goalkeeper in the conference. Heidi Wierman has recorded seven shutouts on the season. On the offensive side of the field, the Caseys have gotten help from underclassmen Grace Pauwels and Molly Denver who both have 7 goals on the season. RBC is the No. 4 seed in the Shore Conference Tournament and will host the winner of the first round game between (20) Southern and (13) Rumson-Fair Haven. RBC defeated Rumson-Fair Haven by a score of 3-0 in the first game of the season.
4. Central (12-0-1) Last Week: 4 – Central ended the regular season winning 9 straight games and earned the No. 2 seed in the Shore Conference Tournament. Central’s defense, led by Emma Christensen and Nicole Kangas, only allowed three goals all season and goalie Addison Frulio posted 10 shutouts. Central will play the winner of the first round game between (18) Middletown North and (15) Marlboro. The Golden Eagles did not play either of those teams this season.

5. Point Boro (10-1) Last Week: 5 – After graduating a strong senior class that won the Group 2 title last year, Point Boro picked up where they left off last year and won 10 games during the regular season and earned the No. 5 seed for the Shore Conference Tournament. Maddie Renna, who was one of the best freshmen last season, has taken over for Abby Hanemann and became one of the leaders of the midfield and leads the team with 10 assists. Freshman Megan Viggiano has raised the level of her game since her sister, Elise, has been out with a ton of energy. Megan has 6 goals and 6 assists on the season. The Panthers will rely on the experience from the players who made it to the Shore Conference Tournament final last season. Point Boro will host the winner of the (21) Manchester and (12) Freehold Township match-up in the second round.
6. Toms River South (9-1-2) Last Week: 7 – The Indians only loss this season came in overtime to No. 5 Point Boro. They have won six straight games, all by shutout. Sophomore goalie Reese Lindemann has eight shutouts on the season for Toms River South. Sophomore Daniella Gordon, who led the team with 7 goals last season, has scored 10 this season with five of them in the last three games. The Indians earned the No. 6 seed in the Shore Conference Tournament and will have a first-round bye. They will host the winner of the (22) Point Beach/(11) Toms River East game. TRS defeated TRE last Thursday 2-0 in a crosstown rivalry game.

7.Middletown South (6-5) Last Week: 6 – Middletown South is still fighting the injury bug as we enter the Shore Conference Tournament. After losing three straight games, the Eagles defeated crosstown rival Middletown North 2-1. Rutgers commit Bea Tinoco has 15 goals this season and owns the school record with 74 in her career. Middletown South was ranked in the top five for the majority of the season and will be a very dangerous opponent in the Shore Conference Tournament as the No. 9 seed. Middletown South should be getting some of their injured players back and a healthy Middletown South can make a deep run in both the Shore Conference and state tournaments. They open up with a home game against the 24th seed Colts Neck in the first round. The winner will travel to the No. 8 seed St. John Vianney.

8. Trinity Hall (12-2-2) Last Week: 8 – Trinity Hall has outscored their opponents 59-6 this season with a combination of strong defense and multiple goal scorers. The Monarchs have six players who have five or more goals with Kailyn Fitzgerald (12) and Kaylee Davis (10) leading the way. Senior goalie Emily Venezia, who missed last season due to an injury, has returned to earn 10 shutouts this season. Trinity Hall will be the No. 10 seed in the Shore Conference Tournament and hosts No. 23 Red Bank Regional in the opening round. The winner will travel to (7) Wall in the second round.
9.Toms River East (9-4) Last Week: 10 – The Raiders ended the regular season dropping three out of their last four games, but all the losses have come against teams ranked in the top five of the Shore Conference. Toms River East is another team with a strong defense, but they will need to be more consistent scoring goals to make a deep run in the postseason. Brooklyn Chin leads the team with 7 goals scored including two games with a hat trick. Toms River East is the No. 11 seed in the SCT and will host the No. 22 seed Point Beach in the opening round. The Raiders defeated Point Beach 3-1 on 9/20 in a Class B South division game. If the Raiders win they will travel to crosstown rival and No. 6 seed Toms River South in the second round.
10. St. John Vianney (8-4-1) Last Week: Not Ranked – The Lancers crack the top ten rankings for the first time this season after defeating No. 9 Freehold Township on Saturday 2-0. The Lancers started the season losing their first two games against the top seeded teams in the Shore Conference Tournament. Since losing to division rival Rumson-Fair Haven, SJV has gone 3-0-1 with the win against the Patriots and a draw against No. 8 Trinity Hall. Junior Gabby Parker, who missed last season with an injury, has returned to lead the team with 10 goals. The combination of her and sophomore Kennedy Wallace have combined for 19 goals and 9 assists. SJV will be the No. 8 seed and earned a first-round bye. The Lancers will host the winner of the match-up between (24) Colts Neck and (9) Middletown South.
