2025-2026 Shore Sports Insider Girls Basketball Week 8 Top 10

 

1. St. John Vianney (22-2) Last Week: 1 – The Lancers hold strong at No. 1 after posting a 2-0 week, winning their first two games of the Shore Conference Tournament handily. SJV defeated Shore in the round of 16, 79-32, led by seniors Taylor Sofilkanich (21 points) and Stella Lockhart (17 points, including the 1,000th of her career.) The Lancers took care of Trinity Hall in the quarterfinals, cruising past the Monarchs 64-35. Senior guard Madison Kocis led the Lancers with a game-high 23 points in the victory. SJV will play Manasquan in the semifinals on Tuesday at Brookdale at 7:45 p.m.

2. Red Bank Catholic (24-2) Last Week: 2 – RBC holds strong at No. 2 this week after going 3-0 for the week. The Caseys started the week by defeating out-of-conference foe Piscataway 77-36.  Senior guard Katie Liggio led the Caseys with a game-high 27, including the 1,000th point of her career. RBC won their first two games of the Shore Conference Tournament handily, defeating Marlboro 68-16, led by senior forward Addy Nyemchek’s 19 points, and taking care of St Rose 64-29, again led by Nyemchek’s 19. The Caseys will take on Rumson-Fair Haven in the semifinals on Tuesday at Brookdale at 6 p.m.

3. Manasquan (19-4) Last Week: 3 – The Warriors hold down their No. 3 spot this week after going 2-0. The Warriors won their first two games of the Shore Conference Tournament, defeating Toms River East 60-45 in the Round of 16, and beating Howell 59-24 in the quarterfinals. Senior guard Jordyn Hollowell led the Warriors with 19 points and 14 rebounds against Toms River East, and sophomore guard Calista Vowteras went off for a career-high 22 points against Howell. Manasquan will play the underdog role in the semifinals against St. John Vianney on Tuesday night at Brookdale at 7:45 p.m.

4. Rumson-Fair Haven (16-8) Last Week: 4 – Rumson-Fair Haven held on to the No. 4 spot this week, going 2-0. The Bulldogs won their first two games of the Shore Conference Tournament, defeating Jackson 40-27 in the round of 16, and battling past Colts Neck 48-44 in the quarterfinals. Junior guard Chloe Kelly scored 16 points in each contest to lead the Bulldogs. Rumson-Fair Haven will play the underdog role against RBC in the semifinals on Tuesday at Brookdale at 6 p.m.

5. Colts Neck (18-5) Last Week: 5 – The Cougars remain at No. 6 this week, splitting a pair of games in the Shore Conference Tournament. Colts Neck defeated Middletown South 35-24 in the round of 16, led by sophomore Allison McAndrew’s 10 points. The Cougars then fell to Rumson-Fair Haven in the quarterfinals, losing 48-44 in a hotly contested game, despite a 16-point effort from McAndrew. Colts Neck will travel to Caldwell on Friday as they prepare for the state tournament. The Cougars are currently projected to be the top seed in Central Jersey Group 3.

6. Howell (18-5) Last Week: 6 – Howell went 2-1 for the week and held on to the No. 6 spot. The Rebels started their week with a 55-35 win over Manalapan. Senior guard BellaRose Marino exploded for 24 points in the win. Howell won their round of 16 game in the Shore Conference Tournament, defeating Brick 43-36, again led by Marino’s 14 points. The Rebels dropped their quarterfinal game to Manasquan 59-24. Howell will host Manchester on Tuesday, Middletown South on Thursday, and Jackson on Friday as they prepare for the state tournament. The Rebels are currently projected to be the 3-seed in South Jersey Group 4.

7. Trinity Hall (17-7) Last Week: 7 – The Monarchs, despite splitting a pair of Shore Conference Tournament games, held on to the No. 7 ranking this week. Trinity Hall defeated Neptune 56-36 in the round of 16, getting a game-high 24 points from senior Grace Feeney. The Monarchs dropped its quarterfinal game to SJV 64-35. Feeney again led the way with 16 points. The Monarchs host Pingry tonight as they prepare for the state tournament. Trinity Hall is projected to be the 6-seed in a loaded Non-Public A section.

8. Neptune (15-3) Last Week: 8 – The Scarlet Fliers split its two games in the Shore Conference Tournament and held the No. 8 spot. Neptune defeated Southern 56-51 in the round of 16, getting 25 points and 14 rebounds from sophomore center Bryanna Edgerson. The Scarlet Fliers dropped its Round of 8 game to Trinity Hall 56-36 despite 14 points from junior Lana Ellington. Neptune will travel to Manchester on Friday as they prepare for the state tournament. The Scarlet Fliers are currently projected to be the 2-seed in Central Jersey Group 3 where they are the defending champions.

9. Keansburg (19-1) Last Week: 9 – The Titans remain at No. 9 this week, despite losing their first game of the season to a team not far outside of the top 10. Keansburg went on the road and lost in the first round of the Shore Conference Tournament to Middletown South 40-33. Senior guard Gabriella Flanzbaun scored 16 points in the loss. The Titans bounced back and won their next two games of the week, defeating Freehold Boro 53-44, behind junior guard Gianna Bettinger’s 19 points, and beating Piscataway Magnet 49-25, getting a career-high 31 points from Bettinger.  Keansburg will travel to Point Boro on Wednesday and Sayreville on Saturday as they prepare for the state tournament. The Titans are projected to be the 3-seed in Central Jersey Group 1.

10. Brick (14-8) Last Week: 10 – Brick remains at No. 10, despite splitting its two Shore Conference Tournament games. The Dragons defeated Holmdel in the round of 16, 41-39, getting 13 points off the bench from sophomore guard Ilyani Poso. Brick dropped the quarterfinal game to Howell, 43-36, getting a game-high 15 points from sophomore guard Ariana Wissen. Brick will travel to crosstown rival Brick Memorial on Tuesday before hosting Middletown North on Thursday as they prepare for the state tournament. The Dragons are projected to be the 5-seed in Central Jersey Group 3.
