Southern Regional’s Levi Foote is the Week 5 Ultimate Tree Service Wrestler of the Week

Every week this winter, Shore Sports Insider will honor standout high school wrestling performances in our Shore Conference Wrestler of the Week poll, presented by Ultimate Tree Service.

Our winner of the Week 5 poll, which encompassed matches between Jan. 3 and Jan. 11, is Southern Regional’s Levi Foote, who continued his strong sophomore season with a 5-1 week that included a win over a returning state qualifier. Foote entered high school as a standout but found himself as a spot starter as a freshman in Southern’s deep and talented lineup that won a second straight Group 5 state championship.

This season, he is the Rams’ starting 190-pounder and has enjoyed a 15-2 start. Last week, he went 5-1, headlined by a pin of Mount Olive returning state qualifier Tyler Cumming. His lone defeat came at the hands of West Essex’s Carmine Masi, who reached the third round of wrestlebacks at last season’s state tournament.

Foote and the Rams will compete at the Escape the Rock Tournament this weekend (Jan. 18-19) at Council Rock South High School in Holland, Pa. before a massive Shore Conference Class A Division match with Christian Brothers Academy on Wednesday, Jan. 22.
