Jake Clayton, So., 165, Point Boro
-Clayton won a deep 165-pound bracket to claim his second straight Shore Conference Tournament championship. After winning by technical fall in the first two rounds, he used a late takedown for a 4-2 win over Rumson’s Cole Pangborn in the semifinals and outlasted St. John Vianney’s Cole Stangle with a 2-1 victory in rideouts to win the title.
Killian Coluccio, So., 113, Lacey
-Won the Shore Conference Tournament 113-pound title with a 5-3 win over Rumson-Fair Haven’s Eamon Fry. Coluccio won by fall in the quarterfinals and semifinals.
Sonny DiMatteo, So., 106, Brick Memorial
-Won the Shore Conference Tournament 106-pound title with a 4-1 win over St. John Vianney’s Julian Zargo. Added an impressive 11-1 major decision over Middletown North’s Thomas Blewett in the semifinals.
Conor Delaney, Sr., 215, Rumson-Fair Haven
-Delivered a walk-off technical fall in Rumson’s 34-29 win over St. John Vianney, won the Shore Conference Tournament 215-pound title, and earned his 100th career victory.
Ryan Gavrish, So., 157, St. John Vianney
-Was the only non-No. 1-seeded wrestler to win a Shore Conference Tournament title when he bested Raritan senior returning state qualifier Alex Delaurier, 7-2, to win the 157-pound bracket. Gavrish won by fall in his three bouts before the final.
Brock Oizerowitz, So., 175, CBA
-Oizerowitz, a returning state medalist, won his first Shore Conference Tournament title with a 1-0 victory over Long Branch’s Tornick Kajaia in the 175-pound final. He won by fall in the first period in his first two bouts and won by major decision over Rumson returning state qualifier Luke Dougherty in the semifinals.
Xavier Ortega, Sr., 138, Howell
-Won the Shore Conference Tournament 138-pound championship with a 6-3 win over Rumson-Fair Haven’s Mario Del Vecchio, a returning state qualifier. Ortega won by fall in his first bout and by technical fall in both the quarterfinals and semifinals.
Ryan Walsh, Sr., 132, Monmouth
-Walsh finished fifth at 132 pounds to become the Falcon’s first SCT medalist in program history. He also recorded his 100th career victory to become the third wrestler in program history to reach the 100-win mark. He is nine wins from breaking the all-time Monmouth record of 108 held by Anthony Bongarzone.
