2025 Shore Sports Insider Offensive Player of the Year – Brick Memorial’s Jason Lajara
It took a few more weeks than Jason Lajara wanted for his senior season to kick into gear, but once it did, he ripped off the greatest year by a Brick Memorial quarterback in history.
Lajara set a host of school records and led the Mustangs to their first state sectional title in 17 years by throwing for 2,331 yards and a record 27 touchdown passes against only four interceptions. He also ran for 720 yards and 14 touchdowns for a total of 3,051 yards and 41 touchdowns in 11 games after missing the first two games of the season with an illness.
For all of that and more, Lajara has been selected as the Shore Sports Insider Offensive Player of the Year.
Lajara finished as the school’s all-time leader in passing yards (4,606) and touchdown passes (47) while also finishing with 1,617 yards rushing and 32 rushing touchdowns in his career. He is a two-time, first-team All-Shore selection and was named the Class A South Offensive Player of the Year by the coaches.

Lajara directed an offense that averaged 33.2 points and 379.6 yards per game and helped the Mustangs win a share of the Class A South title and capture the Central Jersey Group 4 championship. Lajara registered five games of 200 or more yards passing and three games of more than 300 yards through the air.
His masterpiece was a single-game school-record 411 yards passing – one of the highest totals in Shore Conference history – and four touchdown passes in a 55-41 win over Central Jersey Group 3 champion Holmdel. In the first half, he went 19-for-21 for 292 yards and four touchdowns and completed his first 17 passes. He also ran for 114 yards and three touchdowns in the victory.
In the Mustangs’ run to the state sectional title, he threw for 500 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 165 yards and 5 touchdowns in three games.
