The Bulldogs cruised past New Egypt, 18-1, in their lone game of the week and now shift their focus to a formidable A.L. Johnson squad. The Crusaders are 4-0 against Shore Conference opponents this season, with victories over Wall, Manalapan, Point Boro, and Shore. If the Bulldogs handle business, they’ll likely earn a chance to avenge last season’s state playoff loss to Glen Ridge in what would be one of the most anticipated matchups of their postseason run.

With no remaining Shore Conference opponents on their schedule, the Bulldogs are in a strong position to hold onto the top spot in the rankings. The only potential path for CBA to overtake them would be if the Bulldogs suffer a loss in the Group 1 playoffs while the Colts put together a championship run in the Non-Public playoffs.

Upcoming: (8) A.L. Johnson (SJ 1 Quarterfinals)

2. CBA (15-6) Last Week: 2

CBA responded well to its Shore Conference Tournament final loss, cruising past MKA, 16-7, in the second round of the Non-Public playoffs. The road gets significantly tougher this week as the Colts travel to face St. Augustine in the Non-Public quarterfinals. The Hermits handed CBA an 11-5 defeat earlier this season, setting the stage for a highly anticipated rematch with a trip to the semifinals on the line.

There is a narrow path for the Colts to reclaim the No. 1 spot, but it would require an impressive run through the Non-Public state playoffs. If CBA can capture a state championship while the Bulldogs fall short in Group 1, the Colts could have a compelling case to jump back to the top, especially considering the two teams split their head-to-head meetings this season.

Upcoming: at (4) St. Augustine (NP Quarterfinals)

3. Southern (15-5) Last Week: 3

The Rams were firing on all cylinders in a dominant 17-1 victory over Egg Harbor in the opening round of the South Jersey Group 4 playoffs. Southern now turns its attention to a quarterfinal matchup against Lenape on their home field. The two teams shared a common opponent in Moorestown. Southern suffered a narrow 5-4 loss to the Quakers, while Lenape fell by a 15-5 margin. A win over Lenape would lead to a matchup with the winner of Cherokee and Eastern in the semifinals.

Upcoming: (8) Lenape (SJ 4 Quarterfinals)

4. Holmdel (15-5) Last Week: 4

The Hornets cruised past River Dell, 17-3, in the opening round of the North Jersey Group 2 playoffs. The challenge level rises considerably this week as Holmdel welcomes a talented Montville squad that enters the matchup with a 14-5 record and appears under-seeded in the bracket. Fortunately for the Hornets, a demanding regular-season schedule has them well-prepared for the gauntlet that awaits in a loaded sectional field. If Holmdel advances, a semifinal showdown at Sparta likely awaits.

Upcoming: (6) Montville (NJ 2 Quarterfinals)

5. Manasquan (10-6) Last Week: 5

The Warriors overwhelmed Brick, 22-1, in the opening round of the South Jersey Group 2 playoffs and remain firmly on track for another deep postseason run. Manasquan’s path to a return trip to the sectional final became a bit clearer after 10th-seeded Sterling upset seventh-seeded Cinnaminson. While the Silver Knights bring an impressive 16-3 record into the quarterfinals, they have not faced the level of competition that Manasquan encountered on a weekly basis in the rugged American Division.

If the Warriors take care of business, they will likely earn a semifinal matchup against Robbinsville—a team they defeated 10-3 on opening day.

Upcoming: (10) Sterling (SJ 2 Quarterfinals)

6. Red Bank (11-8) Last Week: 8

The Bucs avenged their Shore Conference Tournament loss to Middletown South in emphatic fashion, rolling to a 15-5 victory in the opening round of the North Jersey Group 3 playoffs. That convincing win, combined with Shore’s first-round exit at the hands of A.L. Johnson, propels the Bucs up two spots in this week’s rankings.

Red Bank faces a daunting challenge this week as it travels to take on top-seeded Chatham in the North Jersey Group 3 quarterfinals. The Cougars are ranked No. 4 in the latest NJ Advance Media poll and have established themselves as one of the state’s premier teams. With Chatham heavily favored, the Bucs can play loose and confidently, embracing the underdog role with nothing to lose and an opportunity to make a statement.

Upcoming: at (1) Chatham (NJ 2 Quarterfinals)

7. Wall (8-11) Last Week: 9

After a dominant 16-6 victory over Delran in the opening round of the South Jersey Group 2 playoffs, the Crimson Knights climb two spots in the rankings thanks in part to first-round exits by Shore and Middletown South. While Wall suffered a one-goal loss to Shore earlier this season, the Crimson Knights have built a strong resume of their own, highlighted by a one-goal victory over Manalapan and an 11-7 win over Middletown South—a team that later defeated Shore. A deep postseason run would only strengthen Wall’s case to maintain its position in the rankings.

The road ahead won’t be easy. Wall hosts a talented Allentown squad that enters the quarterfinals with a 13-7 record. The Redbirds own a win over Red Bank earlier this season and will provide a stern test. If the Crimson Knights advance, they will likely be headed for a semifinal showdown at top-seeded Ocean City, which will be a heavy favorite in its quarterfinal matchup against Barnegat.

Upcoming: (5) Allentown (SJ 2 Quarterfinals)

8. Manalapan (11-7) Last Week: 10

The Braves put an end to their three-game skid with a convincing 12-3 win over Cherry Hill East in the first round of the South Jersey Group 4 playoffs. Manalapan also gained ground in the rankings following first-round exits by Shore and Middletown South. The gap between those teams remains minimal, as the Braves own a one-goal victory over Middletown South and suffered a one-goal loss to Wall earlier this season.

Now, Manalapan faces one of its toughest tests yet. A quarterfinal upset of Washington Township would add a strong win to the Braves’ rusme and go a long way toward solidifying their current position in the rankings.

Upcoming: at (3) Washington Township (SJ 4 Quarterfinals)

9. Middletown South (11-8) Last Week: No. 6

A 15-5 loss to Red Bank in the opening round of the North Jersey Group 3 playoffs brought an end to what was otherwise a successful season for the Eagles. Middletown South consistently handled business against unranked opponents throughout the year but struggled to break through against the Shore Conference’s elite, falling to CBA, Wall, Manalapan, and Holmdel. As the season progressed, however, the Eagles showed their growth by earning a Shore Conference Tournament victory over Red Bank and following it up with a quality win over Shore.

While Middletown South faces significant graduation losses, the future remains bright. The Eagles will say goodbye to 17 seniors, including standouts Jackson O’Keefe, who finished his career with 146 points, and Luke Gaffney, who totaled 137 career points. Key defensive contributors Leo Jacinto and Matt Hrehowsik also graduate, along with faceoff specialist John McCormack, who won 58 percent of his draws this season.

Despite those departures, Middletown South has plenty of talent returning. Rising sophomore Forrest Black emerged as one of the Shore Conference’s brightest young stars, finishing with 62 points, while classmate Colton Clark added 41 points. Starting goalie Kyle Denery also returns after posting 126 saves as a freshman this spring. The Eagles will also welcome back experienced seniors Ryan Colacichi and Ryan McCarthy, who each recorded 40 points, giving Middletown South a strong foundation heading into next season.

10. Shore (7-8) Last Week: 7

The Blue Devils stumbled to the finish line, losing four of their final five games after a strong start that featured impressive victories over Toms River East, Red Bank, and Wall. A Shore Conference Tournament loss to Toms River East, followed by defeats to Middletown South and A.L. Johnson in the opening round of the state playoffs, ultimately led to Shore’s drop in the rankings.

Shore will have significant production to replace next season, as seven seniors are set to graduate. Headlining that group is Reid Spallone, who capped off a stellar career with 214 points, along with Jack Madalone, who contributed 30 points during his senior campaign.

Despite those losses, the Blue Devils have several key pieces returning. Faceoff specialist Cole Torres won 56 percent of his draws this season and will once again be a major asset, while goalie Joey Longo returns after recording 133 saves. With a solid core back in place, Shore should remain competitive next spring.
