Manalapan’s Gage Grant is the Week 9 Ultimate Tree Service Wrestler of the Week
Every week this winter, Shore Sports Insider will honor standout high school wrestling performances in our Shore Conference Wrestler of the Week poll, presented by Ultimate Tree Service.
Our winner of the Week 9 poll, which encompassed events between Feb. 3 and Feb. 9, is Manalapan junior 132-pounder Gage Grant, who had a strong week that included a major decision over a returning district runner-up. Shore Sports Insider stopped by practice to present Grant with his Week 9 Wrestler of the Week shirt.
The week before the NJSIAA Team Tournament is typically a lull where many teams choose to rest up for the postseason. Grant had just two bouts but won both, headlined by an 8-0 major decision over Toms River South’s Owen Beneciuk, who was a district runner-up last season.
Grant had a 25-4 record entering the NJSIAA Central Jersey Group 4 sectional tournament.
