New Egypt 3, Lakewood 1

Justin Kramer ignited a pair of rallies in his first two trips to the plate and later added an RBI double for insurance to provide New Egypt’s duo on the mound all the offense it needed in a Warriors opening-day win over the Piners.

Anthony Vidal knocked in the game’s first run in the top of the first with an RBI single that scored Kramer, who walked and advanced on a wild pitch. Vidal then put a ball in play with two out and reached on an error, allowing Kramer to score after he singled with two out and advanced two bases on a passed ball.

In the seventh, Nolan Arnold and Kramer hit back-to-back two-out doubles to cap the scoring, giving Vidal an extra run of cushion while he finished off a six-out save following five strong innings from starter Jake Milicia.

Lakewood’s pitching duo of Abel Martinez and Cris Rosario were on top of their respective games in combining for 18 strikeouts out of the 21 outs recorded. Milicia and Vidal did out-dueled them, including holding both Martinez and Rosario hitless. Both Lakewood players batted better than .500 in 2025.

Lacey 3, Holmdel 2

Junior catcher Nathan Baran helped out his battery-mate Zach Lodge with a two-out, two-run single in the bottom of the third and senior Andrew Hollister closed out the final seven outs to give Lodge and the Lions an opening-day win over the Hornets.

Lacey got to Holmdel ace and NJIT commit in the bottom of the first, when senior shortstop Brayden Messina led off with a walk, moved to second on a wild pitch, took third on a sacrifice bunt by Dalton Johnson and scored on a passed ball.

In the bottom of the third, Joe Geiger reached on an infield error and stole both second and third base. Logan Resetar, meanwhile, drew one of his three walks and swiped one of two stolen bases to set up a pair of runners in scoring position for Baran, who plated both runners with his two-out line drive to leftfield.

Holmdel swung its way back into the game with consecutive two-out hits by the Nos. 8 and 9 hitters in the top of the fifth. Massimo Sperduto clocked an RBI double and scored on an RBI single by Dylan Sidhu, after which Lacey went to Hollister to relieve Lodge. Hollister induced an inning-ending come-backer to the mound, coaxed an inning-ending double play in the sixth, and retired the side in order in the top of the seventh.
