Junior Jake Schultzel scored 13 of his 23 points in the second half and the Patriots (3-1) overcame an 11-point deficit in the third quarter to rally past the Golden Eagles (2-1), into the Classic semifinals on Sunday at RWJBarnabas Health Arena.

Central led, 35-24, early in the third quarter before Freehold Township hit the Golden Eagles with an 11-0 run that tied the game, 35-35. Freehold Township did not climb in front until its second possession of the fourth quarter, with senior John O’Neill scoring off a pass from junior Sam Hawskby, who finished with six assists. Central junior Derek Roth answered with a basket in the post, followed by a three-pointer by sophomore Caden King to put the Golden Eagles ahead, 47-43.

From there, Freehold Township took control. Schultzel hit a three-pointer to cut the deficit to one and fellow junior Cole Gerigk knocked down another triple for a 49-47 Patriots lead. Gerigk then found Schultzel for a layup and a 51-48 lead and Schultzel scored on a putback to make it 53-48. Freehold Township turned that 10-1 run into a 15-3 run that put the Patriots up, 58-50 in the final minute.

O’Neill finished with 13 points, six rebounds, two assists and two steals, while sophomore Aamari Alexander-Monroe pitched in six points, three assists and three steals. Junior Dakota Lasater scored eight of his nine points for Freehold Township in the first half, including a halfcourt shot to end the second quarter that cut the Central lead to 31-24 at the break.

Roth scored a game-high 25 points, 10 rebounds and five assists to lead Central, with senior Elijah Reeder chipping in 11 rebounds and four blocked shots to go with his four points.

(2) Jackson 52, (7) Brick Memorial 40

Senior George Boley scored 13 of his 15 points in the first half and classmate Jimmy Pappalardo led the way in the second with 10 of his 13 as the Jaguars (5-0) wore down the Mustangs (3-2) to advance to the Runhke Bracket semifinals and seize their first 5-0 start since 2012-13.

Boley also added seven rebounds and eight assists, while Pappalardo blocked four shots on the other end of the court. Senior Paul Bradshaw delivered nine points off the bench and senior Randy Holmes Jr. added eight points and six rebounds for Jackson, which will take on Freehold Township in the tournament semifinals Sunday at approximately 8:30 p.m.

Sophomore Luka Begashvili scored 15 points and senior Sean Collins added 13 to lead Brick Memorial.

(4) Wall 44, (5) Red Bank Catholic 34

Senior Brian McKenna scored 10 of his game-high 18 points in the second quarter to go with seven rebounds and three assists and the Crimson Knights (3-0) held the Caseys (2-2) to three points in the fourth quarter, including zero in the final five-plus minutes to earn a spot in the Ruhnke Bracket semifinals Sunday vs. local rival and No. 1 seed Manasquan.

Red Bank Catholic senior James Hankowski hit five three-pointers for a team-high 15 points and his fifth three-pointer cut Wall’s lead to 37-34 with under 5:30 to go in the game. McKenna responded with a pair of drives to the basket, one a finish at the rim and the other a goal-tend to make it 41-34.

Senior Liam Killea added nine points and three assists and classmate Dan Hennessy chipped in eight points for Wall.

Senior Tyler Hager scored seven of his nine points for RBC in the first half and also grabbed nine rebounds while blocking two shots.

(1) Manasquan 43, (8) Point Beach 42 (OT)

Sophomore Luke Winn scored a game-high 14 points, including 10 in the second half, and the Warriors (2-2) battled past the Garnet Gulls (4-1) in overtime to survive a first-round scare from the No. 8 seed.

Winn hit a game-tying three-pointer with under six minutes to go and senior Jack O’Reilly hit a game-tying lay-up off a spin move with under two minutes to play. On the prior possession, senior George Breckenridge had given Point Beach the lead with a drive to the basket and later hit a three-pointer to cut Manasquan’s lead to 43-42 with 1:33 left in overtime.

On the final possession of regulation, Point Beach was denied twice in the paint, with O’Reilly blocking the follow-up attempt.

In overtime, sophomore Sean Bilodeau hit a pair of technical foul shots to break the tie and sophomore Noah Matuch scored off a find from senior Jack Lattimer to extend the Manasquan lead to 43-39. Point Beach junior Danny Cavanaugh was ejected from the game for tackling Bilodeau after he tripped over him and got tangled up. Cavanaugh was initially called for fouling Bilodeau as Bilodeau attempted to block a shot by Point Beach senior Jacob Edgecomb and O’Reilly shoved Cavanaugh into Bilodeau after the initial whistle, according to video posted to X (Twitter) by Matt Manley.

On the final possession of overtime, Point Beach drained the clock from just over a minute to 10 seconds before attacking and could not come up with the winning basket.

O’Reilly finished with 10 points, 15 rebounds and two blocks, while Winn also dished out four assists to go with his game-high point total. Senior Elijah Ives led Point Beach with 13 points and six rebounds, with Breckenridge chipping in 10 points and junior Ryan Mahoney adding eight points, three assists and three steals in the loss.

(11) Toms River North 68, (14) Brick 36

Senior Jayden Thomas scored nine of his 16 points in the second half for Toms River North and sophomore Jake Greenberg scored 10 of his 15 in the second quarter as the Mariners (3-2) mauled the Green Dragons (0-4) to reach the semifinals of the Gepp Bracket in the Kevin Williams Classic.

Senior Bryce Kazanowsky added nine points for Toms River North, which built a 33-16 lead by halftime.

Junior Jamel Pitts matched Thomas with a game-high 16 points to lead Brick.

(10) Donovan Catholic 61, (15) Toms River South 50

Freshman Gerard Gallo scored nine of his 17 points in the first quarter and the Griffins (2-1) outlasted the Indians (3-2) to earn another Toms River showdown in the Gepp Bracket semifinals against Toms River North.

Freshman Ethan Sulkowski threw in 14 points, junior Gabe Feliciano netted 11 and sophomore T.J. Hunter poured in nine for Donovan Catholic. Senior Kharii Pringle scored 16 points to lead Toms River South, with seniors Brady Gibson and Jacob Myers each contributing 12 points in the loss.

(13) Toms River East 54, (12) Middletown North 46

Sophomore Brady Gillen poured in 23 points and junior Chase Ballie added 20 as the Raiders (3-1) pulled past the Lions (0-4) and into the Gepp Bracket semifinals on Sunday vs. Colts Neck. The two Toms River East guards combined to go 9-for-12 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter to help Toms River East close out the victory.

Freshman Branden Estrada scored 20 points senior Jack Dambaugh added 12 to lead Middletown North.

(9) Colts Neck 74, (16) Manchester 37

Sophomore Nate Sloane scored 23 points and senior Dillon Younger drained 19 to lead a rout by the Cougars (2-1) over the Hawks (1-3). Senior Andrew Tomkovich added 10 points for Colts Neck.

Junior Orion Andrews scored 15 points and sophomore Justin Roberts pitched in 12 to lead Manchester.

Junior Danny O’Neill scored 18 points and the Lancers (1-3) shook off a two-point first quarter to cruise past the Mustangs (1-4) and into the quarterfinals Saturday vs. top-seeded Lenape with their first win of the season.

Junior Nicky Mejia added 12 points and sophomore Luke Angeles threw in 10 for St. John Vianney.

Senior Luke Lydon scored a team-high 15 points and senior Luke Cruz added 13 points in 11 minutes in his season debut, including nine in the fourth quarter to lift the Bulldogs (5-0) over the previously-unbeaten Rams (4-1).

Senior Blake Ahmann posted 11 points and 14 rebounds for Rumson, which outscored Roselle, 20-9, in the final quarter.

Freshman Myles Joseph scored 21 points and twin brother Chancellor Joseph chipped in 14 to lead the Bengals (4-1) to a rout of Cape May Tech (0-5). Senior Donovan Paul also netted 10 points for Barnegat, which will play Bridgeton in championship game Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
