No. 9 Manasquan 59, St. Rose 45
Junior Logan Cleveland scored 19 points and the Warriors (4-4, 1-0) outlasted the Purple Roses (1-8, 0-1) in the Class A North opener for both teams. Sophomore Sean Bilodeau and senior Jack O’Reilly each added 12 points and senior Jack Lattimer pitched in eight points for Manasquan.
Junior Marco Leonardis scored 17 points and senior Tyler Cameron added 14 to lead St. Rose.
No. 2 Rumson-Fair Haven 68, Red Bank 57
Senior Luke Cruz went off for 30 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and three blocked shots to lead the Bulldogs (9-0, 1-0) past the Bucs (4-6, 0-1) in the first of two regular-season meetings in the Ridge Road Rivalry.
Senior Luke Lydon added 13 points, six rebounds and three assists, while freshman Clint Martin contributed 12 points, five rebounds and three assists to help Rumson close out the victory after the Bulldogs held narrow leads heading into the halftime (31-29) and at the end of the third quarter (46-43). Senior Blake Ahmann pitched in eight points, seven rebounds and three steals in the win as well.
Juniors Justin Valentino and Will Galligan each scored 19 points to lead Red Bank, with Valentino also grabbing nine rebounds and Galligan plucking five rebounds and four steals. Senior Josiah Johnson also chipped in nine points in the loss.
Class A Central
No. 3 Wall 64, No. 7 Howell 40
Senior Brian McKenna scored 31 points behind 7-for-10 shooting from beyond the three-point arc and also pulled down 12 rebounds to go with three assists as the Crimson Knights (6-0, 1-0) routed the Rebels (5-2, 0-1) in a wire-to-wire win to open Class A Central divisional play.
McKenna scored 12 points each in the first and third quarters, with Wall growing its nine-point halftime lead as large as 22 during the third quarter and building on it in the fourth.
Senior Jake DeBrito added nine points, senior Liam Killea chipped in seven points, four assists and three steals, and senior Dan Hennessy contributed seven points, eight rebounds and three assists for Wall.
Junior Jay Parker led Howell with 19 points.
Class B North
Freehold Boro 58, Middletown North 56
Senior Mike Cush scored a team-high 22 points and the Colonials (5-2, 1-1) held off a fourth-quarter charge from the Lions (2-5, 0-1) to pull out a win. Juniors J.J. Ranaudo and Tristan Brito each added eight points for Freehold Boro, which led by 11 points heading into the fourth quarter and held on the game’s final possession to escape with the victory without surrendering the lead.
Junior Nate Tyburczy scored a game-high 26 points to lead Middletown North. Senior Jack Dambaugh added 13 points, three assists and three blocked shots, while freshman Nick DiGiovanni pitched in eight points, six rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocked shots in the loss.
Class B Central
Ocean 61, Monmouth 46
Senior Aidan Saint Louis scored a game-high 24 points and freshman Omar Ayyash poured in 21 to pace the Spartans (5-4, 1-0) to a win over the Falcons (4-2, 0-1) in a Class B Central opener between teams off to strong starts.
Junior Logan Conrade led Monmouth with 20 points.
Neptune 55, Long Branch 33
Senior Jordan Pierre scored a game-high 16 points and junior Darron Lynch chipped in 13 to lead the Scarlet Fliers (2-4, 1-1) to a lopsided win over the Green Wave (2-5, 0-1). Senior Quintin Fisher led Long Branch with 14 points.
Matawan 59, Raritan 45
Senior Trevor Cole scored 16 of his game-high 23 points in the second half, including 10 in the fourth quarter to help the Huskies close out a home win over the Rockets in the division opener for both squads.
Sophomore Cayson Williams added 16 points and sophomore Sean Euell chipped in nine for Matawan. Sophomore Mario Diamantis led Raritan with 14 points, 10 of which came in the first half.
Class C North
Henry Hudson 82, Asbury Park 44
Junior JoJo Newell scored a career-high 33 points and the Admirals (4-2, 1-0) coasted to a win over the Blue Bishops (0-5, 0-1) to open division play for both teams. Junior Billy Quinn poured in 14 points, junior Tiernan Ilaraza added 10, and junior Blakely Smith pitched in nine for Henry Hudson.
Ny’John Kirkpatrick and Tyree Nelson each scored nine points to lead Asbury Park.
Shore 61, Keyport 50
Senior Andrew Barham scored a team-high 23 points and junior Maddox Paulin backed him up with 14 to lead the Blue Devils (4-3, 1-0) over the Red Raiders (3-4, 0-1) in the division-opener for both teams.
Senior Jasias Colon added nine points and senior Finn Watson netted eight for Shore. Keyport senior Kai Arrington led all scorers with 26 points and junior Demetrius Attia added nine in the loss.
Non-Conference
Keansburg 61, Koinonia 57
Senior A’Son Young led a balanced offensive effort by Keansburg with 16 points and the Titans (3-2) pulled past Koinonia. Senior I’Shon Young and sophomore Daizhan Jones each added 11 points for Keansburg.
