Long Branch 75, Asbury Park 42

Senior Josh Da Cruz drained 25 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to spark the Green Wave (1-1) to a win over the Blue Bishops (0-1) — Long Branch’s first win of the season.

Senior Nacier Hart added 11 points and three steals and senior Nathan Pessoa pitched in 10 points and eight rebounds for the Green Wave.

NyJohn Kirkpatrick scored 16 points and Cameron Berardesco poured in 15 to go with three steals to lead Asbury Park

No. 9 Marlboro 54, Howell 50

Senior Ajay Mathews scored 15 of his game-high 20 points in the second half and the Mustangs (1-0) outscored the Rebels (1-1), 17-6, in the fourth quarter to pull out a season-opening win on the road.

Mathews also grabbed six rebounds and dealt out six assists. Senior Drew Lubeck added 11 points and 11 rebounds, while junior Dylan McEwan chipped in eight points for Marlboro, which took its first lead of the game near the midway point of the fourth quarter, 45-44.

Senior Cayden Parker and junior Eddie Garcia each scored 19 points to lead Howell.

Toms River East 56, Brick 22

Sophomore Tommy Intintola scored 15 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as the Raiders (2-0) rode an all-around performance to their second straight one-sided win to open the season, this time over the Green Dragons (0-2).

Sophomore Brady Gillen added 13 points and three steals and junior Chase Baillie poured in 10 points for Toms River East. Junior Sean Nausedas led Brick with nine points.

Donovan Catholic 73, Manchester 54

Freshman Gerard Gallo led a balanced offensive performance by Donovan Catholic with 13 points and three assists as the Griffins (1-0) handled the Hawks (0-2) to open their season with a win.

Freshman Ethan Sulkowski and junior Gabe Feliciano each added 10 points, with Sulkowski also pulling in nine rebounds and nabbing two steals and Feliciano handing out three assists. Senior Frankie DiMaggio also contributed eight points and even rebounds for Donovan Catholic.

Sophomore Justin Roberts led Manchester with a game-high 16 points and classmate Sam Spaziano contributed 12 points and seven rebounds in the loss.

No. 3 Rumson-Fair Haven 53, No. 10 Red Bank Catholic 46

Senior Luke Lydon went off for a career-high 38 points, including 21 in the fourth quarter to help the Bulldogs (3-0) hand the Caseys (2-1) their first loss of the season in a battle of 2-0 teams heading into the evening.

Lydon shot 6-for-12 from three-point range, including 4-for-6 in the second half and 3-for-4 in the fourth quarter. Overall, Lydon was 11-for-20 from the field and 10-for-11 from the free-throw line after sinking his last seven free-throw attempts within the final 1:02 of the game.

Junior Casey Moore grabbed eight rebounds and handed out four assists for Rumson to go with his five points. For the third straight game, the Bulldogs played without All-Shore senior forward Luke Cruz, who is nursing a foot injury, according to Bulldogs coach George Sourlis.

Junior Gavin Biasi led RBC with 17 points, with senior teammate James Hankowski kicking in 12 on four three-pointers. Senior Tyler Hager chipped in six points, six rebounds, four assists and two blocked shots in the loss.

Point Boro 52, Hamilton West 46

Junior Hunter Hynes scored 18 points and senior teammate Jovin Steinmetz netted 17 to lead the Panthers (1-1) to a road win over the Hornets (1-1). Senior Nick Carmino also threw in eight points for Point Boro.
