No. 6 Middletown South 3, No. 3 Red Bank Catholic 1 (10 innings)

Junior pitcher Riley Smith struck out 19 batters and allowed just four hits, four walks, and one unearned run in a 10-inning thriller as the Eagles (2-1, 1-1) toppled the Caseys (1-1, 1-1). In the top of the 10th inning, sophomore 1B Jordyn Cowell hit an RBI single to center field on a fly ball to score junior CF Mia Collins who started on second base due to the international tie-breaker rule. The Eagles would add another run later in the inning when sophomore pinch runner Quinnlynn Heaney scored on an error. Smith then closed out the game in the bottom of the 10th inning on a ground out and two strikeouts.

Cowell went 2-for-4 with two RBI’s. Junior SS Celia Collings finished 2-for-4 with a run. Collins was 1-for-4 with a run.

Sophomore pitcher Mackenna Savage struck out 22 batters and allowed only five hits with no walks in 10 innings. Junior SS Grace Lombardi finished 2-for-4 with two doubles and a walk. Senior CF Torri Case was 1-for-3 with a walk.

Colonial

Matawan 12, Freehold Township 1

Junior catcher Elyssa Jamandron went 3-for-5 with a two-run home run to center field as the Huskies (1-1, 1-1) routed the Patriots (0-2, 0-2). Senior pitcher Emma Kriegstein struck out nine batters and allowed just four hits, one walk, and one earned run in the win. Kriegstein also went 2-for-5 at the plate with a double and an RBI. Senior OF Jenna Pagan was 2-for-4 with two RBI’s. Senior 3B Stephanie Meek finished 3-for-4 with a triple, a double, and an RBI.

Sophomore Alissa Chavez went 1-for-3 with an RBI double in the loss. Sophomore Julia Calamia was 1-for-2 with a triple.

No. 10 Holmdel 6, No. 7 Raritan 2

Senior pitcher Julia Henderson struck out nine batters and allowed just two earned runs as the Hornets (2-0, 2-0) knocked off the Rockets (1-1, 1-1). Junior catcher Natalie Clifford went 2-for-4 with two RBI’s. Senior Emma Vanario was 1-for-4 with two RBI’s.

Junior Holly Bellofatto went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI in the loss. Junior Abigail Rehfeld was 1-for-3 with an RBI.

Constitution

Freehold Boro 9, Shore 4

Tied 2-2 after the 1st inning, Freehold Boro (2-0) scored three runs in the top of 2nd inning and added a run in the next four innings to defeat Shore (2-2) 9-4. Junior Ashley Koppelman went 3-for-5 with a double and two RBIs for the Colonials. Junior Paige Sheridan and freshman Vanessa Karabin each added three hits for Freehold Boro. Karabin struck out five batters to earn her second win of the season.

Junior Peyton Waterman went 3-for-4 for Shore with two doubles and two RBIs.

Patriot

Long Branch at Lakewood- PPD 4/27

Keyport 10, Neptune 7

Freshman Madison Ortiz went 2-for-3 with two RBI’s as the Red Raiders (3-0, 2-0) defeated the Scarlet Fliers (0-2, 0-2). Senior Ava Mitchell was 2-for-4 with two RBI’s. Senior Nicolette Sickles finished 1-for-3 with a double and two RBI’s.

Non-Division

Monmouth 18, Lacey 2 (4 innings)

Senior Emma Riccardi went 3-for-4 with a home run and six RBI’s as the Falcons (1-1) routed the Lions (1-3). Freshman Isabella Ruiz was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI’s. Layla Yamello was 3-for-3 with four RBI’s. Sam Mahoney struck out five batters in four innings.

Rumson-Fair Haven at No. 8 Barnegat- PPD
