No. 2 Manasquan 34, No. 3 CBA 31
Sophomore Rey Weinseimer scored 25 of Manasquan’s 34 points and the Warriors (9-1) battled back from a first-half deficit to beat the Colts (5-3) in a defensive struggle.
The game was not a defensive struggle for Weinseimer, who shot 9-for-14 from the field and scored seven of Manasquan’s 10 points in the first half and 10 of Manasquan’s 12 points in the third quarter. Manasquan, however, trailed, 23-22, heading to the fourth. After sophomore Logan Cleveland tied the game with a free throw — the first point of the game scored by a Manasquan player other than Weinseimer or senior Griffin Linstra — Weinseimer scored eight straight Manasquan points to give the Warriors a 31-29 lead.
Cleveland then scored his first and only field goal in the post to make it 33-29. CBA stayed in it with three low-post baskets — two by junior Connor Andree and one by sophomore David Buley — and pulled to within 33-31 on a pair of free throws by senior Gavin Marlin.
CBA forced a Manasquan turnover with 38 seconds left, but senior Kevin Pikiell missed a runner in an attempt to tie the game. Linstra hit one of two free throws on the other end with 7.5 seconds left, giving CBA a chance to tie the game with a three-pointer. Out of a timeout, the Colts freed up senior Cam Reynolds for a potential game-tying three, but it missed the mark.
Linstra added six points and nine rebounds, with Cleveland scoring the other three points to go with six rebounds.
Senior Justin Fuerbacher scored 12 points to lead CBA, but Manasquan held him to one point after he burned them for 11 in the first. Buley added seven points and seven rebounds in the loss.
No. 1 St. Rose 50, Gill St. Bernard’s 48
Junior Jayden Hodge scored 20 points while also contributing five rebounds, three assists and three steals to earn game MVP honors as the Purple Roses (6-4) survived a fourth-quarter surge by the Knights (7-3) to escape with the win.
Freshman Oymere Rene scored on a steal-and-lay-in on the final play of the third quarter to give St. Rose a 39-26 lead heading to the fourth. Gill responded with an 19-5 run to take a 45-44 lead — its first of the game. Freshman Connor Junker stole the ball in the backcourt and laid it in for the 45-44 lead, giving him his only two-point shot of the game to go with five three-pointers.
St. Rose’s other freshman delivered the counter, with Izayah Cooper nailing a three to push St. Rose back in front, 47-45, with 1:35 to go. Senior Evan Romano hit a pair of free throws to push the lead to 49-45, but Junker struck back with his fifth three — a stepback from the right corner over Hodge to make it 49-48.
Junior Tyler Cameron hit the second of two free throws with 21.5 seconds left and St. Rose held Gill St. Bernard off the board on the final possession.
Romano finished with 13 points for St. Rose, while Junker led GSB with 17.
No. 4 Central 57, No. 6 Red Bank 49
Seniors Jaycen Santucci and Jayson King each scored 18 points and the Golden Eagles (8-1) used a 14-2 run early in the fourth quarter to turn the tide and hand the Bucs (9-1) their first loss of the season.
Santucci added eight rebounds and three steals, while King plucked five rebounds, handed out four assists and came up with four steals. King also scored eight unanswered points to start the 14-2 run in the fourth quarter, including a pair of three-pointers. Red Bank led, 37-32, after a putback by senior Ron Richardson to start the fourth and Central’s run swung the game in its favor, 46-39.
Senior Royalty Riley added 13 points, six rebounds and three steals for Central.
Senior Zayier Dean led Red Bank with 12 points, eight rebounds, three assists and three steals. Richardson contributed 10 points and five rebounds off the bench and senior Anthony Moore and sophomore Justin Valentino each poured in nine points in the loss, with Moore hitting three three-pointers.

Middletown North 51, Ocean 39
Senior Colin Byrne pumped in 23 points to go with eight rebounds and the Lions erased a three-point halftime deficit with a 20-8 run during the third quarter on the way to a win over the Spartans.
Junior Eddie Lopez added 10 points and five rebounds for Middletown North.
No. 5 Rumson-Fair Haven 61, No. 7 Freehold Boro 55
Junior Luke Lydon scored 20 points and connected on five three-pointers as the Bulldogs broke out with a big fourth quarter that carried them to a win over the Colonials.
Junior Luke Cruz added 18 points for Rumson, which stormed out to a 22-8 lead at the end of the first quarter, but trailed, 43-37, heading to the fourth quarter. Senior Carson Memmott scored all nine of his points in the fourth quarter to lead a 24-12 Rumson run to close the game.

Matawan 49, Toms River North 46
Senior Jayden Elijah scored 22 points and hauled in 15 rebounds to lead the Huskies to a win over the Mariners — the second straight year Matawan has broken a losing spell with a win over Toms River North.
Freshman Cayson Williams added 11 points, eight rebounds and four blocked shots and junior Ben Morales pitched in nine points for Matawan, which got all of its scoring from four players. Senior Amir Martinez rounded out the scoring with seven points on 7-for-8 shooting from the free-throw line.
Senior Mekai Morse scored 15 points and classmate Sherrod Nelson netted 13 to lead Toms River North. The Mariners trailed, 48-39, with under two minutes to play and had a chance to tie the game on the final possession, but missed a pair of three-point attempts.
Last year, Matawan beat Toms River North after entering the game with a 3-10 record and went on to finish 10-15.

Middletown South 59, Robbinsville 54
Senior Brady Hahn scored a game-high 28 points to lead the Eagles over the Ravens. Junior Matt Trimble also chipped in 14 points for Middletown South.
Lawrence 61, Red Bank Catholic 59
Senior Ryan Prior scored 30 points and reached the 1,000-point milestone for his career with a layup in the final seconds of the first quarter, but his potential game-winning three-pointer as time expired hit the back iron, giving the Cardinals a narrow win over the Caseys.
Red Bank Catholic erased a 10-point second-half deficit and took the lead, 59-58, on an acrobatic layup by senior Sean Saxton with 1:01 left in the fourth quarter.
Lawrence’s first shot attempt to take the lead was off the mark, but the Cardinals secured the offensive rebound and reset the offense. Junior Marvin McNeil then hit a contested three-pointer to give his team a 61-59 lead with seven seconds and RBC took a timeout with 5.7 remaining.
On the game’s final play, Saxton raced into the front court and found Prior on the left wing. Prior pumped-faked his way to an open shot and got it off before the final buzzer, but it misses just long.
After going 9-for-10 from the free-throw line in a win over Middletown South on Thursday, Prior went 10-for-11 on Saturday. Junior James Hankowski scored 12 points on four three-pointers, while Saxton chipped in 11 in the loss. McNeil led Lawrence with 25 points.
Keyport 75, Jonathan Dayton 68
The trio of senior Nico Dispenza, senior Andrei Matthews and junior Kai Arrington combined for 65 points to carry the Red Raiders to a road win over the Bulldogs.
