Shane Fallon steps down as Red Bank football coach after announcing retirement

Shane Fallon, one of the Shore Conference’s most accomplished football coaches of the last two decades, is calling it a career.

Fallon told Shore Sports Insider on Tuesday that he is stepping down as Red Bank Regional’s head coach because he is retiring on July 1 after 30 years in education.

The former Rumson-Fair Haven head coach finished his career with a 127-78 record over 20 years, leading his teams to five division titles, three state sectional final appearances and Rumson’s first state title in program history in 2010. He is considered a primary architect of the Rumson machine that has become dominant in Group 2.

Fallon also coached one season at Neptune in 2020 and was previously the athletic director at Holmdel.

“After nearly 30 years in public education as a health and physical education teacher, athletic director and coach, I have made the decision to retire from public education and coaching effective July 1, 2025,” Fallon said in a statement. “I am looking forward to spending time with my family. I want to thank all of the student-athletes and assistant coaches who have had a huge impact on my career.”

The Bucs finished 5-4 this past season under Fallon and reached the NJSIAA playoffs, where they lost to eventual Group 4 champion Winslow Township in the first round. Fallon coached four seasons at Red Bank, where his father, George Fallon, was a longtime athletic director.
