Sectional Quarterfinals
South Jersey Group IV
(8) Central 3, (1) Washington Twp. 2
Junior Ilyas Ciltepe scored two of Central’s three goals in the first half and junior goalkeeper Kaden Stout saved a potential game-tying penalty kick in the second half to help the Golden Eagles (12-7) knock out the defending sectional champion Minutemen (13-4-3).
Ciltepe opened the scoring by heading in a ball from sophomore Connor Azzerone and extended the lead to 2-0 by converting a penalty kick. Junior Madden Leszczynski tacked on Central’s third goal of the first half by beating three Washington defenders and slipping a shot by goalkeeper Pete Louvaris.
Robbie Finnegan and Peter Passalaqua each scored in the second half to cut Central’s lead to 3-2, but Stout’s penalty save prevented the Minutemen from completing the comeback.
Central moves on to the sectional semifinal Tuesday, when the Golden Eagles will face No. 4 Southern for the third time this season. Southern won the first meeting, 2-1, in overtime and Central paid the Rams back with a 2-0 victory in the Shore Conference Tournament round of 16. Each of the first two games were played at Central Regional High School and Tuesday’s game will be the first of the 2024 series played at Southern.

Manalapan will host defending Group IV champion and No. 3 seed Princeton Tuesday in the sectional semifinal round.
Central Jersey Group III
(9) Long Branch 3, (1) Colts Neck 2
Junior Thomas Silva finished a set piece service from Alejandro Lopez-Flores in the 78th minute and the Green Wave completed an improbable comeback that dealt the Cougars their first loss of the season and sent the Green Wave to the sectional semifinals Tuesday at No. 4 Middletown South.
Long Branch entered the second half trailing, 2-0, and got on the board in the second minute of the second half, when senior defender Evan Santiago scored off a pass from classmate Alejandro Lopez-Flores. Santiago then set up the equalizer, serving up an assist on a game-tying goal by junior Marvin Oyuela in the 64th minute.
Silva then scored his team-leading 12th goal to give Long Branch the lead, flicking the game-winner in off the second pass from Lopez-Flores that led to a goal. Junior Chris De Oliveira Santos set up the free kick by turning the corner along the end-line and drawing a foul five yards outside the 18-yard box on the right side.
Colts Neck jumped out to a 2-0 halftime lead on first-half goals by sophomore Pedro Navroski and senior Sam Gershon, with Gershon extending the lead to 2-0 with a goal in the 25th minute.
(4) Middletown South 3, (5) Westampton Tech 0
Senior Brendan Millevoi scored a goal and assisted another to pace the Eagles to a win over the Panthers that sends Middletown South to the sectional semifinal on Tuesday, when it will host No. 9 Long Branch.
Junior Gian Luca Zito and senior Tyler Levander scored the other two Middletown South goals and senior Matteo Niglio contributed an assist.
(3) Steinert 1, (6) Red Bank 0
Elliot Morris struck in the 48th minute for the lone goal of the game and the Spartans hung on to beat the Bucs and reach the sectional semifinals Tuesday at home vs. No. 7 Burlington Township.
Central Jersey Group II
(1) Cinnaminson 3, (8) Holmdel 1
(4) Delran 5, (5) Ocean 2
Seniors Damon Powell and Noor Eraky each scored a goal, but the Spartans could not extend their careers and those of the rest of the Ocean seniors in a quarterfinal loss to the six-time defending sectional champion Bears. Delran will travel to top-seeded Cinnaminson in Tuesday’s sectional semifinal round.
(6) Manasquan 3, (3) Bordentown 2
Junior Cruz Farkas scored the winning goal with 12 seconds left and the Warriors erased a two-goal deficit over the final 15 minutes to extend their season into the sectional semifinals on Tuesday.
After Manasquan fell behind, 2-0, in the 65th minute, senior Cristian Gonzalez scored directly on the ensuing kickoff — replicating a goal he scored in a road win over Governor Livingston in last year’s Central Group II semfinal round.
The Warriors pulled even in the 75th on a header by senior Braeden DeAngelis off a throw-in by senior Cooper Daly.
In the final seconds of the match, senior Shayne Byrne got his head to another long throw-in and flicked it toward the front of the goal, when Farkas slammed the ball into the net for the game-winner.
(2) Robbinsville 2, (7) Rumson-Fair Haven 1 (OT)
Ethan Pagani scored the golden goal off a give-and-go with Mitchell Shapiro and the Ravens outlasted the Bulldogs to reach the sectional semifinals Tuesday against No. 6 Manasquan.
Robbinsville erased a 1-0 deficit, starting with an equalizer by Shapiro in the 61st minutes.
Central Jersey Group I
(9) David Brearley 3, (1) Shore 1
Senior Riley Murphy scored a goal for Shore, but the Blue Devils could not keep the Bears in check as Brealey knocked off the two-time defending sectional champions and defending Group I champions to reach Tuesday’s sectional semifinals at No. 4 Roselle Park.
South Jersey Group IV
(7) Toms River North 7, (15) Cherry Hill East 0
Seniors Josh Brazier and Christian Caso each posted two goals and an assist to help the Mariners rout the Cougars and reach the sectional semifinal round of the state playoffs for the sixth straight season.
Brazier scored the first two Toms River North goals, senior Christian Assante scored to make it 3-0 and caso scored the first of his two goals to cap the first-half scoring with the Mariners leading, 4-0.
Caso scored the first goal of the second half off a pass from Brazier and Matt Mena and Jordi Perez each finished a goal for Toms River North to round out the scoring.
(4) Southern 3, (12) Gloucester Tech 1
Senior Aidan Donnelly scored off the first of two assists from classmate Brody Reynolds and senior Jefferson Rubi Cruz put the game away with two goals as the Rams scored three unanswered goals after a scoreless first half to beat the Cheetahs.
Donnelly slammed in his 22nd goal of the season five minutes into the second half to stake Southern to a 1-0 lead. The Rams then made it 2-0 when Rubi Cruz struck for his first goal, which came off a set-up from junior Brody Nacarlo. Rubi Cruz then extended the Southern lead to 3-1 by finishing off Reynolds’s second assist of the game.
Southern will play the winner of Saturday’s quarterfinal between top-seed and defending champion Washington Township and No. 8 Central. Washington Township eliminated Southern on penalty kicks in the 2023 sectional quarterfinals on the way to winning the South Jersey Group IV championship, while the Rams split a pair of games vs. Central this season. Southern defeated Central, 2-1, in overtime in Class A South division play before Central paid Southern back with a 2-0 win over the Rams in the Shore Conference Tournament round of 16.
South Jersey Group III
(2) Toms River East 1, (7) Lacey 0
Senior Luke Bodziak headed in a free kick from classmate Tommy Renkin in the 49th minute and the Raiders held on to beat the Lions to advance to the sectional semifinals Tuesday against No. 3 Moorestown.
Senior Bobby Calvo and junior Michael Moore split the shutout in goal, with Calvo playing the field in the second half after senior starting forward Rowen Joice left the game with what Toms River East coach Mike Konopka said was diagnosed as a torn ACL in Joice’s right knee.
Since losing to Manasquan, 2-1, in the Shore Conference Tournament, Toms River East has conceded one goal in its last six games with five shutouts — including back-to-back clean sheets for the Calvo-Moore combination in the South Group III Playoffs.
(3) Moorestown 3, (6) Toms River South 0
South Jersey Group II
(11) Lindenwold 4, (3) Manchester 1

(4) St. Joseph Metuchen 1, (5) St. John Vianney 1 – St. Joe’s advances on penalties, 7-6
Junior Mason Boles scored the game-tying penalty kick in the second half and junior goal-keeper Liam Steiner saved two of the first three attempts by St. Joe’s in the shootout, but the Falcons rallied to beat the Lancers in nine rounds of kicks to advance to the sectional semifinals Tuesday at top-seeded Pingry.
(6) Notre Dame 1, (3) CBA 0
Notre Dame goalkeeper Anthony Merluse saved a penalty kick in the 28th minute and six minutes later, Antonio Mandreucci scored the deciding goal as the Irish upended the three-time-defending sectional champion Colts to reach the sectional semifinals.
After Merluse’s diving save of Phil Bodenski’s penalty-kick attempt — one of his 15 saves in the match — Jayce Palumbo got off a dangerous shot from the left side of the 18-yard box that CBA goalkeeper Sean Najdzanowicz saved. Madreucci, however, pounced on the rebound and knocked it in for the ice-breaker six minutes before halftime.
CBA pressed Notre Dame throughout the second half and in addition to Merluse turning the Colts away, fresman defender Cayden O’Rourke cleared a shot away from the goal while Merluse was off his line 14 minutes into the second half.
With the loss, CBA failed to reach the sectional final round of the NJSIAA Tournament for the first time since the 2013 season, ending a run of nine straight tournaments in which the Colts played for a championship trophy — 10 straight including the modified 2020 sectional playoffs.

Senior Saeed Torres followed up his career-best performance in the opening round (four goals, including the golden goal vs. Noor-ul-Iman) with a hat trick and two assists Friday as the Panthers rolled through Wilberforce and into the sectional semifinals Tuesday at top-seed and defending sectional champion Moorestown Friends.
Junior Eddie Magherini and sophomore Juan Torres each contributed a goal and an assist, while freshman Luke O’Hagan also scored for Ranney.
