Class A North
No. 5 Manasquan 4, Long Branch 2
Senior Brandon Kunz and junior Cruz Farkas each scored a second-half goal after recording an assist and the Warriors (6-3, 2-2) fought back the Green Wave (1-8, 0-5).
Farkas scored off a find from Kunz to break a 2-2 deadlock in the 67th minute and Kunza capped the scoring in the 77th off a pass from Griffin Mack.
Manasquan never trailed in the match, but had to respond to two Long Branch equalizers. The Warriors knocked the Wave on its heels with a goal in the first minute by senior Tristan Davalos-Guillen, who took a pass from classmate Jorge Cruz Cruz and drilled a shot to the top of the goal.
Long Branch answered in the 16th with a goal by junior Christopher DeOliveira-Santos, who ran onto a through-ball before the finish. Manasquan regained the lead in the 27th, when senior Griffin Linstra knocked in a cross from Farkas.
Senior Johan Gomez converted a penalty kick in the 33rd minute to send Long Branch into halftime even with Manasquan.
Class A South
No. 6 Toms River North 1, Central 0
Senior Josh Brazier scored the game-winning goal in the 48th minute and the Mariners (7-3-1, 5-0-0) held on to beat the Golden Eagles (5-4, 3-2) and cap an undefeated run through the Class A South division.
Eight minutes into the second half, Brazier settled the ball on the left side of the 18-yard box, powered through a Central defender and blasted a finish inside the near post for a 1-0 Toms River North lead.
Senior Alex Roman and sophomore Gavin Stryker split the shutout in goal, with each goalkeeper making a key save during their respective half. Roman stuffed a one-on-one chance for Central sophomore Danny Palheta in the sixth minute and Stryker made a diving save on a top-of-the-18 rip by senior Jordan Benzon in the 71st.
The win secures Toms River North its second straight outright championship and third in five years. The Mariners’ win over Southern on Monday clinched their fifth straight season with at least a share of the division title.
Class C South
Brick 5, Pinelands 1
Junior Carl Loffredo posted a hat trick and also added an assist to lead the Green Dragons (3-6-1, 3-2-0) to a convincing win over the Wildcats (2-9, 1-4). Junior Giano Godenzi contributed a goal and two assists while junior Luis Lenor also scored a goal for Brick.
