Class A North

No. 2 CBA 1, No. 6 Marlboro 0

Junior Nick Silva’s pass inside the Marlboro box went off the leg of a Mustangs (3-1, 0-1) defender and into the goal for the only goal of the game, giving the Colts (3-2, 1-0) a win in their first Shore Conference match of the season.

Silva attempted a pass toward the right side of the box in the 62nd minute and an attempted clearance by the Marlboro defense went awry, with the ball bouncing into the goal as Mustangs goalkeeper Tim Yatutov left his line to challenge for the ball.

The two teams combined for only eight shots (4-4) and CBA had the game’s only shot on goal, which came within minutes of the own goal.

Holmdel 1, Long Branch 0 (OT)

Senior Stepan Kapranov scored the golden goal midway through the second overtime period and the Hornets (2-1, 1-0) denied the Green Wave (0-1, 0-1) a result in its season-opener.

No. 1 Howell 1, Rumson-Fair Haven 0

Senior Kam Brown buried a 16-yard strike in the 43rd minute and the Rebels (2-0, 1-0) pulled out a road win over the Bulldogs (1-2, 0-1) for their second narrow win to open the season. Sophomore Brady Murphy picked up his first shutout in goal.

 

Class A Central

No. 3 Colts Neck 5, Wall 1

Sophomore Sean Moore scored two goals for a third straight game and the Cougars (4-0, 2-0) cruised to a road win over the Crimson Knights (1-3, 0-1).

After Colts Neck fell behind, junior Dillon Younger tied the game off the first of two assists by junior Gabe Kruglyansky. Moore then gave Colts Neck the lead, with Sam Gershon providing the first of his two assists.

Junior C.J. Collins scored the final Colts Neck goal of the first half off a Kyle Moore assist and junior Ben Kazani opened the second half scoring before Sean Moore finished it off with his second goal.

No. 8 Manalapan 3, Freehold Twp. 0

The Braves (3-0, 2-0) scored three goals in the first 20 minutes — including two in the first five — and coasted to a win over the Patriots (0-4, 0-2).

Junior Eduardo Russo scored in the second minute of action and in the fifth, senior Dan Altman finished a goal after classmate Christian Laverde had the ball knocked away at the end his run to the goal. Laverde got in on the scoring in the 20th by finishing off a sparkling sequence, with junior Ethan Lustig setting him up with the pass.

Middletown South 3, St. Rose 1

Brett Denery scored a goal in a second straight game and the Eagles (2-1, 1-0) topped the Purple Roses (1-3, 0-2). Jack Cohen picked up his first goal to five Middletown South a 2-0 lead and junior Jorge Ximil-Carranza capped the Middletown South scoring.

 

Class A South

No. 5 Toms River North 2, Point Boro 0

Senior Josh Brazier and junior Nick Gallipoli each scored a first-half goal and the Mariners (1-2, 1-0) blanked the Panthers (1-1, 0-1) to notch their first win of the season. Junior Brady Gillman set up Brazier for his finish in the 15th minute and senior James Homyak found Gallipoli for his goal in the 27th.

No. 4 Southern 2, Jackson Memorial 2

Senior Aidan Donnelly scored two more goals — both of which tied the game — to help the Rams (3-0-1, 0-0-1) avoid a road loss to the Jaguars (3-1-1, 0-0-1), who notched a significant result vs. one of the Shore’s hottest teams to open the season.

Junior Rob Calamia gave Jackson Memorial an early lead with a penalty kick before Donnelly tied the game with a direct kick. Jackson Memorial regained the lead on a goal by senior Sean Cohn that he finished off a cross from junior Callan Granito. Donnelly tied the game in the second half with his seventh goal in four games to open the season.

 

Class B North

Ocean 3, Freehold Boro 0

Sophomore Connor Shaw posted a hat trick to carry the Spartans (2-1, 1-0) to a shutout win over the Colonials (2-2, 0-1). Senior Evan Moran assisted two of the Shaw goals and freshman Zach Sutton set up the other.

Raritan 2, Neptune 0

Junior Owen Brackett assisted a goal by senior Sean Burnett in the 36th minute, then scored one off a pass from senior Alan Warren in the 58th to spark a Rockets (3-1, 1-0) win over the Scarlet Fliers (1-3, 0-1).

No. 9 Shore 1, Matawan 0

Senior Jadyn DeRosa scored the game’s lone goal off a pass from Silvio Pessoa in the 14th minute to help the Blue Devils (2-1, 1-0) clipped the Huskies (0-2, 0-1) on the road.

 

Class B Central

Monmouth 4, Asbury Park 0

Senior Rob Sherman recorded his second straight hat trick and classmate Tanner Simpson added a goal and an assist as the Falcons (2-1, 1-0) blanked the Blue Bishops (1-4, 0-1).

Ranney 5, Henry Hudson 2

Senior Saaed Torres and junior Eddie Magherini each scored two first-half goals and the Panthers (2-2, 1-0) rolled to a win over the Admirals (0-2, 0-1). Sophomore Trevor Davis scored his first varsity goal to account for the fifth Ranney tally.

 

Class B South

Manchester 3, Jackson Liberty 1

Seniors Gabe Ochipinti and Anderson Ordoñez-Mejia scored the first two Manchester goals and the Hawks (2-2, 1-0) downed the Lions (1-2-1, 0-1-0) in their Class B South division opener. Senior Eric Balkius scored the third Manchester goal and junior Brayden Kurak pitched in a pair of assists.

Lakewood 3, New Egypt 2

Kervin Martinez set up Lakewood’s first goal and scored the game-winner in the 44th minute to lead the Piners (2-0, 1-0) to a win over the Warriors (0-3, 0-1).

Sophomore Steven Aguilar finished a cross from Martinez to open the scoring in the 11th minute and Martinez scored into the side netting from the edge of the six-yard in the 44th minute for Lakewood’s third goal. The Piners’ second goal was an own goal, initiated by a run-and-cross by sophomore Jonathan Bravo.

Senior Jesus Madrigal scored New Egypt’s first goal off a Dylan Harper assist and Harper later added a goal of his goal.

 

Class C South

Brick Memorial 4, Brick 3 (OT)

Senior Declan Smith scored his second goal of the game in the second minute of overtime and the Mustangs (2-0-1, 1-0-0) beat the rival Green Dragons (0-3, 0-1) on a golden goal.

Smith opened the scoring with penalty kick and Matt Heptig scored off a pass from junior Elin Torres in the first half. Heptig then set up a goal by sophomore Nate Stryker to tie the game in the 75th minute.

In overtime, Landon Almafa found Smith for the game-winner within the first two minutes of extra time.

Junior Carl Loffreddo scored two goals for Brick, including a go-ahead free kick from 23 yards out in the second half. Junior Giano Godenzi scored the second Brick goal.

Point Beach 6, Donovan Catholic 2

Junior Dylan Ryan posted a first-half hat trick, then added a fourth goal in the second half to lead the Garnet Gulls (2-0, 1-0) over the Griffins (0-2, 0-1).

Sophomore Brody Powers assisted the first goal by Ryan and later added one of his own to cap the scoring. Senior Bennett Mayer and senior Cody Monticello each assisted on two goals for Point Beach and freshman Evan Hajeski scored the second Garnet Gulls goal.

Junior Max Durazzo and sophomore Sal Reynoso scored the Donovan Catholic goals.

Barnegat 3, Pinelands 2

Sophomore Nate Scisco scored two goals, including the tie-breaking penalty kick in the 55th minute to give the Bengals (2-0, 1-0) a win over the Wildcats (1-4, 0-1). Junior Riley Stolthelte scored the other Barnegat goal and assisted one of Scisco’s two goals in the win.

Senior Dan DeMillio scored both Pinelands goals.

 

Non-Division

No. 7 Manasquan 2, Red Bank 1

Senior Brandon Kunz connected on a 20-yard strike in the 20th minute and classmate Cristian Gonzalez converted a penalty kick in the 37th to provide the scoring in a Warriors (2-0) win over the Bucs (1-3).

Senior Jorge Cruz Cruz forced a turnover in the back and found Kunz for 20-yard, left-footed strike.

Junior Carlos Segura-Trapp cut the Red Bank deficit in half with a goal in the 55th minute off a pass from senior Trey Cummings.
