South Jersey Group 2

2-Point Boro 15, 1-Camden 7 – Story

Sophomore slotback Nick Spanola and senior fullback Dylan Reitmeyer ran for touchdowns and Point Boro’s defense played an incredible game as the Panthers (10-2) went on the road and defeated Camden to win the program’s fifth sectional title and first since 2021.

Spanola’s 30-yard touchdown run in the first quarter gave Point Boro a 6-0 lead and Reitmeyer added a 4-yard touchdown run with 8:08 left in the first half. Camden answered on a 33-yard touchdown pass from Makhi Brunson to Ibn Muhammad less than two minutes later, but that was the only score Point Boro would allow as its defense brought pressure all night and forced two turnovers. Senior defensive lineman Nick Albanese had multiple sacks, sophomore defensive back Jake Clayton had an interception and Spanola forced a fumble that junior James Bradley recovered late in the game. Senior linebacker Colin Obser recorded a safety that came after Point Boro was stopped on 4th-and-goal from the 1-yard line, putting the Panthers ahead 15-7.

Point Boro will play at Central Jersey Group 2 champion Rumson in the state semifinals after the Bulldogs defeated Wall 38-14 to win their third straight sectional title. Rumson won 42-28 over Point Boro when the two teams met in Week 1.

Turay had touchdown runs of 4 and 60 yards while LaBarca threw a 14-yard touchdown pass to Nico Aquilone and a 48-yard touchdown pass to Adam Urs when St. John Vianney (9-3) built a 28-14 halftime lead. Frankie Williams had an 11-yard touchdown run in the third quarter and a 10-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter, however the extra point on the Caseys’ fourth touchdown was unsuccessful, leaving the Lancers ahead 28-27 with just over six minutes left in the game.
