No. 4 Middletown South 2, No. 1 Freehold Township 1

Senior forward Amanda McGregor delivered the go-ahead goal off a direct kick by junior back Maria DeGregorio with 33 seconds left in regulation to lift the Eagles (2-0, 1-0) to a thrilling win over the top-ranked and reigning two-time Group 4 state champion Patriots (0-3, 0-1).

Middletown South took a 1-0 lead with seconds left in the first half when senior midfielder Grace Gironda converted a penalty kick after the Patriots were whistled for a trip inside the 18-yard box. Freehold Township tied the score 1-1 in the 61st minute when junior Gianna Neron worked her way inside the 18 and converted a 1-on-1 scoring chance.

 

Class B Central

Raritan 5, Neptune 0

Freshman Carina Szorosy scored twice in the first half and senior midfielder Isabella Geoghan tallied a goal and two assists to lead the Rockets (1-1, 1-0) to a victory over the Scarlet Fliers (0-3, 0-1).

Juniors Brooke Shea and Azure Kauffman each scored once while junior goalkeeper Hayden Shea made eight saves to record the shutout. Junior midfielder Morgan Rafferty and senior back Ashley Fogerty chipped in with one assist each.

 

Nondivisional

No. 2 Wall 2, Jackson Memorial 1

Sophomore Kelsey Hallock struck for the go-ahead goal late in regulation to propel the Crimson Knights (2-0) past the Jaguars (0-2).

Sophomore Megan Farrell scored the opening goal two minutes into the game off a setup from senior Erynn Richey and also assisted on Hallock’s goal.

Junior back Alexa Berkley scored Jackson’s goal off an assist from sophomore forward Madison Fagliarone in the second half. Senior goalkeeper Gianna Berkley made five saves.

 

No. 3 Red Bank Catholic 3, No. 8 Rumson-Fair Haven 1

Junior forward Paige Foye scored twice and sophomore forward Payton Cox scored once as the Caseys (2-1) rallied from down a goal to surge past the rival Bulldogs (1-1).

 

No. 6 Central 1, Manasquan 1

Sophomore midfielder Leah DiCillo gave the Golden Eagles (0-0-1) the lead in the 37th minute off an assist from senior forward Shelby Parks but the Warriors (0-1-1) drew even in the 71st minute when junior forward Jordyn Hollawell scored with an assist to freshman Avery Koblan.

Freshman keeper Addison Frulio made nine saves for Central and senior Gia Restivo made 18 saves for Manasquan.

 

Toms River North 2, Freehold 0

Sophomore forward Lauren Kuhn and senior forward Angelina DeCesare each scored once and sophomore goalkeeper Lena Salvaggione made eight saves to steer the Mariners (2-1) past the Colonials (0-3).

Senior keeper Kendall Livingston made 10 saves for Freehold.

 

Barnegat 2, Holmdel 1

Sophomore Jayla Duff scored the game-winning goal off an assist from senior Kaitlin Lutcza as the Bengals (1-1) bounced back from a season-opening loss to edge the Hornets (1-1).

Senior Kallie Kawka scored off a direct kick for Barnegat’s first goal and sophomore goalkeeper Ella Tortorici posted her first career victory.

Senior forward Lily Reardon scored Holmdel’s goal off an assist from sophomore midfielder Tori Klein. Junior Gabriella Samaan (2) saves and sophomore Natalie Clifford (3 saves) split time in goal.

 

Pinelands 1, Donovan Catholic 1

Freshman Ariana Leonardis scored an unassisted goal for Pinelands and senior Sloane Stellmach scored off an assist from sophomore Sarah Franks for Donovan Catholic as the Wildcats (1-1-1) and Griffins (0-0-1) played to a draw.

Freshman goalkeeper Kyrie Baggett made 10 saves for Pinelands and senior keeper Lauren Kurzynowski made four saves for Donovan.

 

Toms River South 2, Colts Neck 1

Ellie O’Leary scored the go-ahead goal off a free kick in the 46th minute and the Indians held off the Cougars to improve to 2-0.

Freshman Daniella Gordon gave Toms River South the lead in the 17th minute before the Cougars (1-1) tied the score on a goal by junior Charli Pagano with 22 seconds left in the half.

 

Monmouth 6, Long Branch 1

Senior Jenna Chlapowski scored two goals and assisted on another to lead the unbeaten Falcons (3-0) past the Green Wave (1-1).

Senior Tina Ensuar added a goal and an assist while sophomore Sara Wisk, senior Bella Emerson and freshman Julianna Amerson each scored once. Senior keeper Amaya Harris made four saves and junior Angelina Funes chipped in with one assist.
